Any advice on how to determine who is legit?

1. Check where the shop is located or where they ship from (I choose shops in my country or anywhere else in the EU)
2. Read their bio if it seems genuine (when there's no bio at all it's an immediate no!)
3. Check the description of the item for more details about how it's made
4. Read reviews, look at the ones with pics!

@mhanshaw165 I recommend looking at the overall shop before ordering and usually the pictures looking like a screenshot....it's hard to be 100% sure but follow your gut! Dropshippers tend to not have a niche bc they're trying to maximize profit.
@@mhanshaw165try putting the images into google search and seeing if other shops come up. really lazy ones will re-use the same photos. if they take the effort to take their own photos of the drop shipped items then you won’t be able to tell as easily ):
A little tip! They sell mermaid mono fins and that will definitely help ur tail hold it’s shape and show off all of its elegant potential! Plus it will look even better in photo shoots,and most importantly help u swim elegantly and safely!❤️

The butterflies on the shoes seem to be crocheted in yarn, which is soft so, it either has to be stiff yarn or stiffened with a starch spray or other treatment to retain the shape and for the wings to stick up nicely. It probably wouldn’t feel great but, it’s looks beautiful. I don’t think it’s a question of cheap fabric or a bad job.

The only downfall of that mermaid tail is it needs something rigid in the tail end like flippers because it so easily looses its shape and winds up just looking worm like. It was really awesome to see otherwise! All the butterfly themed items were so pretty too

So the answer to the question "can crochet be made by machine" is... no AND yes! in fact, the exact crochet technique can not be replicated by a machine but there are machines that can imitate perfectly the open weave look of crochet material. And as knit is concerned, yes there are many knitting machines that can produce "hand made" looks like heavy cable knit sweaters or really bubbly knit structures that give the impression it has been made by a granny! If we continue, it is true as well for embroidery (a machine can imitate the look and feel of any hand made embroidery even if you can see small differences). In the case of those garments, as I guess the production has been made in low wages countries, certainly the main parts of the garment have been produced by machines and details like embroideries and crochet details (like flowers, buttons and trims) have been processed by real humans! So the last (and most important) question here would be the ultimate question you asked: "how could we know if working conditions were fair and sustainable for the workers?" as unfortunately, a higher retail price does not mean at all a higher living wage for the workers...

hey, as a member of the mermaid community I wanted to leave some information. 1. It is EXTREMELY dangerous to swim in a mermaid tail without a monofin as that is the power behind the tail that gives you ease of swimming instead of drowning. 2. Mermaid Lucia has been in trouble in the past for having stolen designs and for selling products saying it is her own work when really she was only a distributor and someone else was manufacturing the product. I don't know if these specific items are stolen designs, I just don't want anyone getting hurt or scammed like members of the mermaid community have in the past

I was super impressed by the whole mermaid outfit actually working in the water but I'll tell you the biggest thing that blew me away was just how big your parents hot tub is. Holy cow. I've never seen a free standing hot tub that BIG before. Loved this video though. Lol.

Please NEVER wear a mermaid tail without a monofin in the water. In this video you can see that it's almost impossible to swim in a tail without a monofin. Without the help of her mom she might have been in real danger of drowning. The monofin will not only give a shape to the fluke but will give you the power to swim with your legs tied together in a move like a dolphin-kick. This is no floating device and only for advanced swimmers. Please be careful.

While beautiful, they can run THOUSANDS of Dollars per tail. Unless you get the cloth ones like Shein, SunTails or FinFun mermaid tails.

Uhm silicone tails are a serious investment. Mine was $2600 and that's cheap

(Pssst, mermaid here, there are tails that are actually cheaper out there. Mertailor and Finfolk Productions are the first two that come to my mind. Usually at the 2k price point you are looking at silicone tails. Either way, if you do, make sure you get a monofin and swim with a buddy.)

I’m actually kind of impressed that the mermaid tail worked and didn’t just fail miserably in the water considering the wiring wasn’t packed away like you’d expect. Somehow I suspect that thing has a limited lifespan in the water. Like it was labeled for wedding meaning they anticipate a one-time use scenario. If someone who was a performer picked it up, I somehow doubt it’d hold up to daily water usage
