    Had that same smile on my face like I was 8 yrs old when I got to jamming on my TR-6S....now I want the TR-8S eventually even though I'm still wrapping my head around the MC-101 which is another pint sized powerhouse!

    Man. I can imagine playing with that for hours: Is it lunch time, yet? What? Morning already??!!

    Although the TR-8S is superior for live performance with its additional tracks and knobs, the TR-6S has the exact same sound and programming capabilities with just a little more menu diving. But given that it can be easily carried in a backpack and runs on batteries, I take it on flights with me and jam out making beats on the plane. Although, one time a flight attendant called the captain on me because she was afraid I was operating a bomb 🙂

    • @maeckie5
      @maeckie5 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      probably you were working on a bomb-track ? ;)

    • @Anth8787
      @Anth8787 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      As someone who has worked on a computer for work my whole life, and a love for the piano, I noticed my general posture is geared towards typing on a keyboard. I own both the TR-6S, and TR-8S, and the playability on the TR-6S to me is superior, actually! Think about the distance of every knob on the TR-6S. Everything is "right there", within a few inches of each other. The ability to keep your hands close and reach every feature with a finger reach, rather than an arm reach, is superior. The soft material used for the keys invites a more tactile-friendly interaction. Using the Step Loop feature with multiple fingers on the TR-6S creates great creativity potential. If they had an external input on the TR-6S, to me, it would be the ultimate device.

      To be fair, Roland TR series is, in fact, "da bomb"

  • @MikeRenouf

    The TR8S has been one of my best ever purchases. The workflow and limitations have made me more productive than I was on a DAW which had too many possibilities.
    You had a great first jam with it 😁

  • @sonicmucus8813
    @sonicmucus8813 2 ปีที่แล้ว +24

    Claudio, the TR8s is an absolute beast, unlimited possibilities. Handy tip. Use it as a daw sequencer for your percussion tracks i.e. taiko and big cinema drums then fade the hardware track into the mix for multi textured layers... audio candy 🤤

  • @tehbigshow

    Nice vid. I just got my TR8S a couple weeks ago and had a similar reaction to the unboxing. Played around with it for a few hours straight with a huge smile on my face. This thing is awesome!

  • @BDKabrini

    I had a choice between Drum Brute (loved it. Felt natural) Behringer RD8-9 (Looks Good But...)
    I brought a Korg Volca Beats. Leaned some stuff. Then upgraded to a TR-08. OMG!
    The TR-08 was the BEST LEARNING EXPERIENCE! Historically!!
    AFter that I wanted more.
    The 909 606 etc...
    And that's when I got the TR8S.
    It has everything in ONE.
    Sounds AWESOME!
    EASY TO UNDERSTAND AND VERY FUN TO USE.

      I bought it, then sold it, never missed it. Doing way more complex stuff with software samplers and drum machines, TR8S, as cool as it might look on paper, it's not a time-saver at all. It is for those with a lot of free time, because anyone could do the same in a DAW in a much shorter time

    • @JeffyG
      @JeffyG 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    • @isaac.anthony
      @isaac.anthony 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@mrdali67 i want to use it with my ipad or other devices that need generic midi, like the MC707/101 can. They have a generic and vendor mode for USB

    • @mrdali67
      @mrdali67 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@isaac.anthony Well that may be an issue. Those are grey areas. However you might be able to use it together with an Apple device if you have a camera kit, which is needed with some equipment. I don’t use an iPad myself with it but eg. The Korg Kronos require it to send both midi and digital sound to an iPad. Other than the camera kit no drivers is needed, but a simple usb to Lightning/usb-c wont work.

    Man I would LOVE to have a custom Rhodes like that.... I mean I can afford one, but it's just not practical for me at my age and not performing out anymore.... And while I am building up a home studio... for what I need I can get some really GOOD Rhodes sounds out of my current sonic arsenal... But to me as being a person who relied on a Rhodes for so many years back in the day playing live, I would simply LOVE to just order a custom one just to "do it"... I know playing one has to be a keyboardists dream for sure!!

    I love my TR-8s but I really wish it had a song mode or at least better midi capability to switch between patterns so I could program it through Logic in a song. As it is you have to play it in manually switching patterns unless you just want a single set of chained patterns

    • @standingwavestudio
      @standingwavestudio 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @woody forrest Sure but it's very limited when you only 8 a total of 8 patterns to chain and you can only repeat them. So no repeat the first pattern for 8 bars, then do the 2nd for 4 bars etc. I suppose you could call that a song mode but not what most people would think of.
