To all the people that are now saying they won’t buy it for whenever reason and I do understand where you are coming from, please keep your promises and don’t buy it, so I can peacefully go to the dealer and make my choice in peace without any mark up etc. 😅
I mean, the Land Cruiser is expensive. 4Runner is cheaper. It’s pretty simple. If they were the same price, sales would shift from 4Runner to Land Cruiser. And there’s nothing wrong with caring how your car looks. That’s a weird criticism. 4Runners look badass. That gives people a cool feeling. Nothing wrong with that.
They should add a 4runner base model, lower than sr5 to make it cheaper. No 2nd row seat, no third row seat, no power lift gate. Just a flat surface in the back and the iforce engine, 8 speed transmission, atrac, toyota safety sense 3. All the rest, just an added upgrade and i can customize it from there.
The 4th gen will always hold a special place in my heart. It was the last Hilux Surf and has basically a Prado but with a more playful albeit more dimwitted look while the Prado had a dainty girly front end. The 4th gen was wafty. But the American 6th gen 4runner looks way better than the international Landcruiser. Except for the new 2025 American Landcruiser version we got with the round lights and rectangle lights. I saw one at my local Toyota dealership built on 35's and a 3 inch lift and whoa shit it looks like a Jeep Wrangler and Mercedes-Benz G wagon had a fun night !!! hehe lol 😂😂😂 ... Nah but it was freaking nice !!!!
The 6th gen 4Runner is probably the vehicle where I've warmed up to the looks the fastest. Like 2 days ago I said I didn't like it, now I absolutely love it! Regarding the trims: I hope they heavily cut down on the packages so it's not an absolute mess but actually simpler.
You are DEFINITELY on to something here. A guy that runs the biggest German language Land Cruiser forum said that the 6th gen 4Runner's design is out there but that's what works for the American market. To me Toyota leaning into their brands like TRD got too much when they were slapping it on the Camry and even the damn Avalon! Now though, now we've reached new levels of tacky poser dozers.

I'll say one thing,, I think TOYOTA made too many models of the 4 Runner, over kill, I don't think TOYOTA is going to be able to sell all of the models.
The people love the 4Runner because its cheap and the Land Cruiser 300 is not and frankly the new 4Runner looks way better. The base 4Runner SR5 non-hybrid (thank god) and 8speed auto for 40k is a good deal for a Land Cruiser 300 variant made in Japan best car in the world!
Toyota knows Americans; it’s all vanity. The 4R was always geared to the American market and seemingly the Sequoia as well; it still baffles me that they didnt want to have the 300 series here as the halo car. Sadly, now the best we get is the GX550 (which isn’t bad), but placing the LC250 “below” the Sequoia (on paper) is a little depressing.
Just did some sketching and man Toyota messed up the DRLs. The way they are now, upturned outwards, is just to make it more aggressive-looking while having them mirrored would give it a much more pleasant and mild look.
GX550 Overtrail and 4runner aren't in the same class. The 4Runner is like a Honda civic where you get a dead reliable car without having to be wealthy. SR5s sell like crazy and so do the Limiteds. The Offroad and TRD PRO are basically subsidized by SR5 and Limited sales. I'm here for all of it. The only thing that I'm not a fan of is the fact that it is lower in height from the LC250 and even the 5th Gen. The Limited is definitely capable and is more than just looks. I have a 5th Gen ORP with KDSS, and the 6th Gen basically comes with all the upgrades I did on my truck. Not gonna get the first edition but I'm definitely getting a 6th Gen as soon as it MAKES financial sense to me.
11:11 If you notice, the Trailhunter's wheels are MAYBE one inch smaller than the Limited. So the sleeker on-road version with the crazy airdam has 21 inch wheels while the hardcore off-roader going on trails has 20 inch ones.😂🤦
What I don't like about the TOYOTA LAND CRUISER is that you have to use PREMIUM GASOLINE, it comes with a 17.9 gallon gas tank, some of the steering suspension use to be made out of steel and now it's made out of ALUMINUM and the very back cargo area can ONLY HOLD 132 lbs of weight because of the Batteries underneath the floor board. It's full time 4x4 and it's a Hybrid which is fine, no problem but the rest of the stuff I wouldn't pay $20,000 for it NO WAY.
The rear cargo area can hold weight. The 132 lbs area is at the very back, the tailgate area where you can lift and have slightly more space for smaller items.
The platinum trim is dumb. Should have just left the Limited as top model on that side otherwise I think the strategy is to have one of everything for every possible buyer. 4Runner is the cash cow . It will continue to be so. I know I have said it before but I believe there isn’t enough room between the 4Runner and the GX and the LC will be gone again. You live in the desert. We can bet a box of popsicles on it.😂😂😂(I guess this means I want it all lol)

@@LexusGX460-OFF-ROAD well I haven’t experienced them yet but I believe you. After I switched to Toyota from Ford with my 4Runner, I never looked back. I imagine it will be fun to have a GX as a daily driver.

I don’t really understand the role of the 4Runner vs LC250 in the line up. The LC250 seems superior in every way. In my opinion, you hit the nail on the head with your opening comments with the LC300. We should have a barebones off road version of the 4Runner with removable top, vinyl seats at the low end, then a mid range LC Prado that is bigger then the 4Runner, with a nicer interior, then we should have the LC300 at the high end. Also get rid of the Sequoia. There’s not enough difference between the 4Runner and LC 250 Prado. Without the LC300 everything gets skewed to the low end and makes no sense in my opinion.
Agree... the Sequoia should've been deleted and the LC300 shoulda been imported as the "Lexus Landcruiser 300".... then do all these new 4runner trims that appeal to everyone and completely delete the LC250 from the US market OR make that the new Lexus GX...
@@LexusGX460-OFF-ROADI don’t get why anyone would want the Sequoia over the LC 300. But noo, almost everything is TRD now, so they had to try and make it special again. Don't even get me started on the fake "LRD" decals that people put on their GXs...
How do you get Americans to buy the new 6th gen 4 Runner instead of one of the thousands of reliable and capable low mileage 5th Gen 4 Runners out there that are much cheaper?
Great question. If Dr. Edward Bernnays was here he'd say "perceived obsolescence" ... convince the American masses that their perfectly capable older 4runner is "outdated" and "out of style".... the whole newness obsession or "iboughtta" trend
Yes Gen-4 4runner in V8 format was the Landcruiser Prado/GX470 .... but yes the Gen4 was a full on Landcruser Prado in V8 trim... but many Americans hated "paying that much for a Toyota" so they kicked it over to Lexus to be a GX
Why would you not mention the L250 brother to the GX 550. I would argue the LC250 is more closely related to the LC300 then the GX550 and the LX600 is the LC300
I totally disagree with your statement that they are all capable. In fact, this winter we took two Toyota 4x4 to Saudi desert for an overland adventure, namely the FJ and the 4runner. The latter was a disaster in soft sand. I had to bail it out not less than three times where the 4runner failed to make through some soft sand terrain while the FJ was almost surfing over the same terrain. So NO . . not all 4x4 Toyota cars perform the same and that is a fact. Trust me on this.
were there other factors? Did then4runner have his tires inflated to 80psi with the traction-control all turned off??? Conversely, we've seen SR5 4runners pull out stuck FJs due, again, to user-error... 😃
@@LexusGX460-OFF-ROAD I am the FJ driver and I tried to switch cars with my friend, so I did drive the 4Runner myself and I did make sure that the tires are at no more than 18 psi and engaged the 4x4 electric knob. @@DonCaprioni What do you think made the 4Runner not perform as well? Would you have said the same thing about the Prado that they get in the Middle East and the rest of the world?
@@zhamed9587 No absolutely not. The Prado is a different beast compared to the 4runner. The Prado is as good as the FJ on sand terrain. It has been tested in the past in Saudi dunes. In fact, I personally have experienced its performance myself. The Prado is solid no doubt. My only reservation was on the 4runner. Like yourself, my earlier impression of the 4runner was that it would perform. My impression was proved to be inaccurate. I shall check with the owner of the 4runner to see if he still has the video clip of that adventure in Saudi. If so, I shall send it to you to see for yourself.
Your video lacks substantial mechanical changes to the 6th gen 4runner that shows TGNA frames/ suspention share technology with the Landcruiser. I would argue the Tecoma/ 4runner/ Tundra are stepping stones for customers to appreciate Landcruiser features. The new 2025 Tacoma/ 4runner is closer to the 1st/2nd gen then they have been since 2002. Trailhunter is a Old Man Emu Overland suspention a company arguably build the best Overland suspention for REAL LANDCRUISERS plus ARB bumpers and racks also designed in Australia. TRD Off Road, TRD PRO, TRAILHUNTER all have MTS that note works is 4 hi not just 4 low, the Limited is part time 4wd in Iforce, and full time 4wd with Ifotce max and Platnium only AVALIBLE in Full Time 4wd/IFORCE Max. Maybe just maybe TRD Off Road will become avalible in Limited/ Platnium trims as happened with SEQUOIA AND Tundra. The LC250 and Trailhunter would be equals off road, same wheelbase with diffent suspentions. LC250 = pricing to the T4R Trailhunter
NO. Landcruisers have CENTER differentials. 3 differentials. It allows for full-time 4wd on road. Our GX460 has a center differential inside the transfer case. A jeep wrangler for example will NOT have a center differential inside the transfer case
Currently, all these auto makers switched to 4 cyl.Turbo including MB,BMW,Audi,Volvo,VW.... Only a few, still making 6 Cyl. We have no choice. I love Naturally aspirated 6 cyl. & 8 cyl. bullet proof engines. My Sequoia 8 cyl. after 215,000 miles is still running great.
I stopped buying Toyotas in 2019 when I had my TOYOTA TUNDRA TRD PRO, which basically I got every option you can and technically it was still stripped… I will say to buy a Toyota and even Lexus you have to wait at least six years after the first model to get everything in it for example when I bought my 2021 LX 570 and 2016 was the last upgrade they did to the LX 570 so I waited from 2016 all the way till 2021 and I bought the last Year the same thing with the GX it started I think 2003 to 2023 so in the future, I will get the 2023 because it has all the options; most people are not patient and they want to buy something soon as it comes out now I love that new Lexus GX 550 but I’m going to wait at least five or six years and then I will get the GX 550 luxury that will have every feature that it comes with that spread out between all the six different models makes the same way I did with Lexus ALEX 570 ; make sense?🇯🇵🤍❤️

In the old days, the top model would've just been called the TRD. But noo, almost everything is TRD now, so they had to try and make it special again. Don't even get me started on the fake "LRD" decals that people put on their GXs...
😆 🤣 😂 "LDR" zomg! 😆.... stay tuned for the TRD Pro _MAX_ trim 😆 ... as you said it's all marketing... pretentious sticker package
The new 4runner looks great! However, it costs more and is less capable. Terrible...
you pay for the "look" 😆... 😢
It's a fail for me. I own a 2021 Limited far superior vehicle. The new model lacks in so many ways. Too many models too.
what is lacking from the new model?
How do you get Americans to buy the new 6th gen 4 Runner instead of one of the thousands of reliable and capable low mileage 5th Gen 4 Runners out there that are much cheaper?
Great question. If Dr. Edward Bernnays was here he'd say "perceived obsolescence" ... convince the American masses that their perfectly capable older 4runner is "outdated" and "out of style".... the whole newness obsession or "iboughtta" trend
From the 1st day of Gen5 4Runner (2010-present) TOYOTA stripped down platform. Underrated Gen4 was peak of segment. Do you agree?
Yes Gen-4 4runner in V8 format was the Landcruiser Prado/GX470 .... but yes the Gen4 was a full on Landcruser Prado in V8 trim... but many Americans hated "paying that much for a Toyota" so they kicked it over to Lexus to be a GX
Marketing works on Americans 😂
As an American I find the new 4Runner design ugly. I most definitely prefer an actual Land Cruiser.
blasphemy! repent!!
Totally agree. The 4Runner looks ridiculous. So many crazy body lines and flares and humps and bumps.

Stop with the mouse already…had to stop watching
would you like to speak with the manager?
Why would you not mention the L250 brother to the GX 550. I would argue the LC250 is more closely related to the LC300 then the GX550 and the LX600 is the LC300

@@LexusGX460-OFF-ROAD I watched enough of the "click bait" opinions until I threw up in my mouth.
@@LexusGX460-OFF-ROAD
I am the FJ driver and I tried to switch cars with my friend, so I did drive the 4Runner myself and I did make sure that the tires are at no more than 18 psi and engaged the 4x4 electric knob. But the 4Runner was a dead horse.
Now I know that the next thing you will claim is that I am a novice inexperienced desert driver. In this case the discussion will be futile ✋️
@@DonCaprioni What do you think made the 4Runner not perform as well? Would you have said the same thing about the Prado that they get in the Middle East and the rest of the world?
@@zhamed9587
No absolutely not.
At 18 mpg's, you can keep them all.😢
There is no such thing as a CENTER DIFFERENTIAL, IT'S CALLED A TRANSFERCASE, VERY VERY BIG DIFFERENCE.
NO. Landcruisers have CENTER differentials. 3 differentials. It allows for full-time 4wd on road. Our GX460 has a center differential inside the transfer case. A jeep wrangler for example will NOT have a center differential inside the transfer case
This refresh will kill the 4 Runner. No 6 cyl. = No Sales ! The design team must be on drugs.
Refresh will make it to where they can't keep up with demand.
Blame the federal government cafe standards for the four cylinder and not Toyota.
@@deanrotering879 facts 💯
Currently, all these auto makers switched to 4 cyl.Turbo including MB,BMW,Audi,Volvo,VW.... Only a few, still making 6 Cyl. We have no choice. I love Naturally aspirated 6 cyl. & 8 cyl. bullet proof engines. My Sequoia 8 cyl. after 215,000 miles is still running great.
No you’re the one on drugs thinking this won’t be the highest selling SUV in the US in 2025
I stopped buying Toyotas in 2019 when I had my TOYOTA TUNDRA TRD PRO, which basically I got every option you can and technically it was still stripped… I will say to buy a Toyota and even Lexus you have to wait at least six years after the first model to get everything in it for example when I bought my 2021 LX 570 and 2016 was the last upgrade they did to the LX 570 so I waited from 2016 all the way till 2021 and I bought the last Year the same thing with the GX it started I think 2003 to 2023 so in the future, I will get the 2023 because it has all the options; most people are not patient and they want to buy something soon as it comes out now I love that new Lexus GX 550 but I’m going to wait at least five or six years and then I will get the GX 550 luxury that will have every feature that it comes with that spread out between all the six different models makes the same way I did with Lexus ALEX 570 ; make sense?🇯🇵🤍❤️
