My son Angelo thought I ought to tell you that the day his mum made a mistake and used 450ml of earl grey tea instead of 300, the whole family loved the pudding so much more than when she done it right for Christmas. :)
*WARNING!* You need a SHALLOW baking tin, Jamie doesn't mention that. I made this EXACTLY as shown and it burnt on top and was raw in the middle. I had to lower the temperature, stick some foil on top and stick it back for another hour. My bad. 😐
I've been watching videos about sticky toffee pudding. It's a good thing you you can't get any calories from that! I've enjoyed watching every single presentation. I like this recipe very much.
Wow! Just finished watching "Coronation Street", and Jenny had mentioned that Rita had made "Sticky Toffee Pudding " while visiting Mavis. The name alone screams delicious. So it's a rainy cold fall day here in Canada and I've decided to try making this for our dessert for dinner or your tea time. Loved the Earl Grey tea trick. Anyway I'm in love with all of your cooking segments. Be well. Peace, love, health and harmony be with you. ✌❤🙏 🇨🇦🐈
@@reesemorgan2259 Hahaha. I couldn't get into it for decades. Then I had a terrible accident with my horses that had laid me up. It wasn't able to get up and change the channel. It was an old TV ,no remote. So Coronation Street comes on after the CBC news broadcast. So I would be stuck forced to watch. I started watching when the train crashed down on the street and all the drama hooked me in. The meds I was on probably helped too. Bwahahah! So now I'm still hooked and watching. Hahaha. There is actually a huge Coronation Street fan base here in Canada. I've never attended, but there is a pub that they all gather at to watch. They've had them on news segments, when something happens to a character or the show changes something. The stations will send a report out to interview all the fan's about whatever the subject is. @@sadiqakhan4795 leave it out because other recipes don’t have it and it works perfectly. I’d leave the tea out too. Nigella does a beautiful rich pudding too.
Jamie, recipe for this recipe from your website says 200gms of dates and 250g leftover cooked pumpkin or butternut squash but the video says 450 gms of dates and no pumpkin added. Please correct ???
Credit where credit is due, and I think JO is a t*at, the recipe is sound as I actually baked this today. Tweaks: lose the tea though and the rum from the sauce. I also added 1 tablespoon of black treacle to the sauce. I used the same style tin and cooked it until the internal temp reached 210F, using a thermopen. Perfecto.
The written recipe on his website has different quantities and ingredients than the video 🤨. The site mentions pumpkin/squash and 200g of dates instead of 450g.
@Jaimie I absolutely love sticky toffee pudding but there is soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo much sugar!!! There’s no way I can justify it. Is there any mods you can do?

It's Jamie Oliver, he does this. I guess it would infuse that bergamot (citrussy floral) element in. I hate Earl Grey tea haha, I wouldnt do this personally. Its not "traditional". All that sugar? oh no no no so unhealthy. He needs to replace all that sugar with aspartame just like he did with all soft drinks otherwise he should be taxed for making it.
I love when he flames the rum and mum says “ooo bloody hell!” Cracked me up.

Aren't "real" sticky toffee puddings supposed to be steamed anyway?

Hi, what can i replace the rum with please? (non alcoholic)
If I’m not wrong when flaming the rum , the alcohol is evaporated

What is the equivalent of golden castor sugar in the US? Thank you.
Never mind. I found it on Amazon. Frggin expensive. About $8/lb. I wonder if I can use Sugar in the raw instead.

Exactly! what i was thinking. The amount of sugar actually put me off using this recipe.
I did it today and it was perfect !! But yeah so much sugar !! But delicious
That's why you eat it like once or twice a year max.
I have a mod but it would complicate things a bit. Put Less sugar :D
Eat dust.... or kale 😂😀
I eat these as are for breakfast ⚡🤣🇨🇦
Yummy!
Not a pudding, that’s a cake. You steam a pudding.
Seems a waste to blend the texture of the dates to nothing. What is the point of using medjool dates if you turn them into a purée?
They taste like toffee and keep the cake moist

Spoiled it with the salt 🧂
And sugar
Too! much sugar
A little bit of salt manages the sickliness.

I didn't use tea. Just hot water. Came out fine.

black tea? That’s so irish
What if you get pitted dates?
Remove them before blending.
