Hummingbird Cake is delicious!
My daughter made it when she was in high school (Australia) almost 20 years ago. It was so delicious that it became our family all time favourite! We used Passionfruit. It’s a very Australian thing I think. Lime sounds nice tho so I think I’ll give that a try when I next make it.

I made this a few years back. Left the two sponge layers to cool. Came back 20 minutes later and one had completely disappeared. Not a crumb left.

There was no cinnamon in there also olive oil why. Olive oil has a strong flavour, is your British way of making a Caribbean cake,

Use vegetable oil that what the original recipe calls for.
But why olive oil? I think I wouldn't do that
Traditionally it uses vegetable oil.
That is not a humming bird cake! It should be three layers and with only roasted pecan nuts on top of a butter and cream cheese frosting. It’s sweet enough in the cake and frosting without adding yet more to the top with a pecan brittle. It should also be brown sugar in the cake and the pecans should be lightly roasted to bring out all of their flavour.

No! No! Don’t add lime zest or whatever to the cream cheese icing! Maybe some chopped pecans but none of that candy crunch stuff either! No olive oil instead use vegetable oil or canola oil. Nope! Not a true hummingbird bird cake. I’ve even made hummingbird bird in a 9 X 13 baking dish. Howdy from Texas.

OMG, no!!!! I wouldn’t watch this guy make anything. There are already much better videos showing how to make hummingbird cakes out there already.
Half a kilo of sugar went into that 😱🤦♂️😱
I normally put in half or less that these recipes ask for and it’s plenty sweet and btw it was 850 grams of sugar 😐😱🤦♂️
It’s a large cake that is split between a lot of servings and it’s a cake.
