I did an introduction slowly outside the house to make sure he could remain calm and not to excited. I didn’t want my huge cane corso to excited on a pup.

I had a 1 year old black Labrador.. amazingly trained.. the most wonderful dog ever.. before I brought in a neopolitan mastiff puppy.. She picked up everything from the older Labrador dog... it was such an easy training the second dog 😃

Thanks for such great info. We are introducing our pup to our 10 year old irish staffy and 4 year old black lab. It had crossed our minds how to do it best. Letting them get on with it seems such a simple idea. Soon become best mates we hope.

Great video, I've just introduced my beautiful 3year English bull terrier to my beautiful 8week old English bull terrier. The corrections scared the hell out of my wife but I'd already watched this and new it would be OK. Thanks

Fully agree on the huge blessing a "role model dog" can be; take it from a sleep-deprived puppy-Mom - I've personally never appreciated my German Shepherd as much as I do now: She is not only the puppies role model, but also its friend, playmate (of course, under supervision), "snuggle puppy", and "hearding dog". No kidding, when we play in the garden and the puppy is off leash, she will entice it to follow her to the direction I'm pointing, or lure it away from distractions by waving a toy in front of its nose. Raising a puppy is a lot of work. And it's comforting not to have to do ALL of the work oneself.

I completely agree I have a 8 year Chow Australian cattle dog mix and I have a heat about six months of retriever Knicks and the older dog totally is training him and they're just bonding and I'm like this would be so much harder if I had just him by himself and so I love this what you said and I'm going to subscribe thank you subscribe to this channel then like of course

I have a 7 mth Cane Corso girl and a 12 wk Boxer who has just arrived. Because Corso Girl is only a pup herself - who's thankfully good with other dogs and reliable recall - I was apprehensive about her getting excited and hurting the puppy. For the first week let them see each other and go to the park with limited interaction but when they finally played Corso put Boxer pup (quite aggressive/brave) in her place (under her) and kept rolling her over. She didn't hurt her so we will continue gradually with interactions making sure things are not over-excited.
The weird thing was when Boxer is outside front door and Corso was inside, Corso started aggressively barking at her as if she was an intruder. I'm glad we observed this and we've taken steps not to have this happen again, I imagine Corso hasn't fully accepted her as part of the family but I'm not certain.
Has anyone else seen this behaviour with a big pup and new pup??

we have a 13 yr old Pugle and she growls and snaps when puppy bothers her. But puppy (american bull dog) got close to Mastiff/pitbull toy and individual who raised him and the Mastiff , (Opie ) grabbed the puppy's head bite down by time pulled off puppy had puncture wound on head and right eye popped out of socket. vet bill #3400.00 removed eye and now we have to watch very carefully of the puppy so the puppy doesn't go near toys or play with mastiff until puppy gets bigger and more training with Mastiff and his anxiety and aggression issues.

I've noticed its hard to introduce my 2 yr old english mastiff to other dogs he is fixed and all about playing but most dogs flex up on him and try to fight him.... He doesn't fight back just keeps trying to play. Love this breed after having 2 corsos he is a great follow up! Glad you chose an English mastiff! Congrats👍🏼

The problem is the other dogs have not been socialised well. Your dog needs to meet dogs that are socialised and friendly. I had the same problem as you and started taking my bullmastiff to dog classes as the dogs there will be socialised.

So I'm 19 still living with parents for a little while longer, since I've been little we've always planned on getting me a gsd when we get a house. for roughly 2/3 ish years I've been on a waiting list and finally have the confirmation I can get him this June. Last October they took on a 2 year old male standard aussie from a home where he wasn't looked after (10min walk a week, barely basic care,no training-had injured them due to pulling, etc) I took it upon myself to train him and he's established a good bond with me but one issue we've had is that he's overly excited around other dogs so out walking hell see another dog and usually I can get his attention and carry on walking but quite often he'll go into a sit or lie down waiting for them and refuse to move. If he end's up playing with them, which I have been trying to avoid to establish he doesn't get that with every dog he sees he just turns into a puppy with no boundaries, takes no warnings and his sole attention is on that dog. This is a bit contradicting because I've been on pack walks with him previously and hell be very independent but at the time was intact and had an issue with another intact male.
There's no balanced trainers around me (closest is a flight away) Im nervous on how to do an introduction with the pup. I'm considering going to the positive only trainers here whose main experience is with small dogs/ puppies doing tricks for £300 as that's my only other option

So, our puppy is obviously very playful. Our other dog is an old man. He doesn't want to play constantly and has just been growly with the pup. He has never snapped though, we are in day 3. Hes always been grumpy with unruley dogs tho, hes always given warning growls to dogs who jump all over him. What would you recommend in this situation?

I recently lost my chocolate Labrador Duke who was 12 and a half, he learnt to be house trained within a week from jazz who was 12 at the time, I'm getting a Labrador pup in June and hoping my english bullmastiff Benny who is 8 passes on his calm nice nature, hoping he doesn't teach him to bark when he wants to play though 😂
