      I got my wife a puppy Dal this past Christmas. The puppy is deaf and female, we have two adult male Labrador dogs and we are still slowly introducing them to her (one at a time) but would like to start having her roam freely inside with both out. We notice that the regular corrections most adult dogs give to pups are falling on deaf ears and as a result they result in nipping and pinning her down, Any suggestions on how to make this process easier for all involved?

    Update on Ace - I have gotten him involved in playing some of the games th-cam.com/users/postUgkx1_veP7CApJK_GWy_TczaMciuG64PqJeU and I can see a difference in his confidence already! My other dog played along and he became intrigued - now its a daily part of our routine - about 3 times a day we do the shell game and the muffin tin game. I am so grateful for coming upon your training techniques!

    @Rachel Fusaro thank you so much for all your videos. I am a first time pet owner and you have made training my puppy with his crate, potty training, bitting issues, and mental stimulation less stressful for the both of us. He’s is picking up on everything I am teaching him because of the advice you gave me. I am shocked how fast he is learning potty training and sleeping in his crate. I have bought like 70% of your recommended puppy items. They have been game changers in my house hold. Don’t get me wrong this whole thing is exhausting but so worth it because we are seeing so much progress in less than a week of bringing him home. He’s only 9 weeks and is almost potty and crate trained. I am soooo shocked. I will forever be grateful for your guidance. I just wanted to let you know that your advice is gold. For others to reference I have a little Frenchie and I got him at 8 weeks and on top of that he was malnourished because of prior owners and on several meds and he still succeeded. Thank you Rachel. ♥️

    • @mackingcheese
      @mackingcheese 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @Just Ellie Well during dinner time putting him in his crate will keep him for doing that. Teaching the “leave it” command might help with him eating stuff off the floor. Also, dogs can eat human food, just not junk food. Things like apples, carrots, broccoli, and unseasoned meat can be healthy treats. Just don’t give them onions or garlic, avacado, chocolate, macadamia nuts, grapes or raisins, or caffeine of any sort, and don’t overfeed them.

    • @teenakhurana8950

      Hi, what worked with my dog was when he did dig, I would say, "Stop digging," in a high voice. Then when he stops, give him a treat and praise him. He learned this in a week's time. I hope this helped!
      P.S- if you think your dog digs too much, it's completely natural. They often times wanna hide their food and then redig it out when they think is the best time. It's in their instinct. 😆

    Thank you so much for this video! I love all of your content! My family just welcomed a new puppy (mini- golden doodle) named Oakley last month and he has really been benefiting from all of the tips and tricks that you recommended in your videos! We have been struggling lately though with getting our older dog (9 year old Yorkie named Lilly) to not growl at Oakley when he comes close to her. Lilly has cataracts (and has her own little attitude as most yorkies do), so we feel as if her responce to growling at Oakley when he barks at or comes close to her is for protection purposes, since she cannot see as well. Lilly also doesn't play as much anymore, and enjoys her personal space. Oakley is only 12 weeks and of course wants to play with Lilly. Oakley has played nicely with several other dogs, but Lilly is definitely challenging us. We have been trying to separate them more, and I feel as if they are slowly getting better over time. Do you have any other advise that we can utilize for this specific situation?

      I think you use potty bell training, they alert you with a bell than you open the door they come back in. You'd also would have to practice recall skills. Potty bell training is basically (if you have the time) every time you take your dog to only potty you use their paw to press the bell. Or you could have your dog press the bell than take them to potty.

    I have a 12 old , lazy miniature chi weenie . She’s not even trained to sit . But she’s such a good and smart dog that I never bothered the basics of training . Now I have an 8 week old Yorkie Russell who is super high energy. He’s very smart. Figured out the doggie door to go potty first night he was here . Do you have any baby steps training videos for hyper puppies with lack of focus. I didn’t introduce my two the way you did . But today, I actually witnessed my older dog allow the new puppy to crawl into her bed . They actually laid there together for awhile. She normally growls at him because he gets on her nerves due to the lack of energy compatibility. Thank you 😊

    I wanted to ask if you know anywhere or anyone I can call/ get in contact with for a no kill shelter or foster in Houston for a dog someone has neglected/mistreated. I would take the babe in if I could but he is a big boy and I live in a small apartment. He is extremely underweight, the owner is willing to give him away but I want to find a great place for this love. Thank you so much if you have any advice. #saveallthedamndogs!

    I’m the one with the puppy and my parents have an 8 year old cocker spaniel rescue who hates other dogs. It’s been a journey but they can at least be in the same room now! Pack walks have helped a lot. And at the beginning I kept puppy leashed to me and the older dog could go free so he could leave if he needed space

    Hi rachel! I love your videos! We got a puppy on December 23rd and your videos have been so so helpful! She is a goldendoodle and now is already potty trained, can sit, stay, shake and lay down. We have even trained her to touch a little doorbell when she needs to go outside. But, no matter what we do, we cannot get her to stop biting! I know its definitely a thing for puppy's to bit and gnaw. But she seriously will no stop! We have tried yelping when she bites so she knows it hurts and we've tried holding her to calm her down. We've tried putting her in her crate when she bites to calm down. And im not sure where to go from here! TIA!

I currently have a Yorkie teacup for 2 yrs now and a few days ago i was given a dachshund/beagle (5months old) and they got along great but the puppy would want to play with my teacup but since the puppy is bigger my teacup gets afraid and a bit stressed. They sleep side by side but the only problem is the one i mentioned... how can i help both so they can get along well and not stress one another? Thanks appreciate the feedback.

    Hello. We just got a new puppy this past Saturday and, admittedly, we introduced our dogs to each other right off the bat. Our new puppy is 10 months old and needs a lot of emotional support, especially from other dogs. Our 5 y/o dog is quite jealous of the new puppy and has snapped at him a couple of times. We have a crate left over from a previous dog that has since passed on. Is it a good idea to start crate training him now three days in and, if so, what steps can we take to help the transition for our anxious puppy?

    Hi Rachel, I have an unusual and unexpected situation, where very I got a 16-week-old puppy from an overwhelmed owner that was giving him away right the way. My first puppy 16 months old Australian Labradoodle is extremely social since he goes to the dog park since he is 8 weeks old, he is trained and very cool personality, never wanting to fight just play and play. Now because I didn't really have time to introduce them outside of the house, I just grabbed the new puppy outside on the supermarket and took him straight home to introduce him to my Labradoodle. My older pup and new puppy play and play all the time, I have not changed the older pup routine, so he feels like nothing have changed yet that he is having a little brother to play 24/7. It has been 13 days since I got the new puppy, yet I have noticed that my older pup does not want to listen to me anymore or hang out with me as much anymore. The new puppy is a 17-week-old puppy so he is next to me all the time and sleeps in the bedroom while the older pup right outside very close by (I leave the door open so he can come and goes if it would like). I don't know if is because the older pup entered adolescence stage now and he wants a "date" or is it because the new puppy. Even before the puppy came into the picture, I did notice a few time that my older pup won't listen or bring the ball back while fetching when he always used to. Sorry for the long story, yet would like your advice if is that is my current older pup is going tro teenager years (he is not neutered yet) or is it a reaction for me bringing a new puppy straight home without any neutral meet-up place. I confused cuz again they play 24/7 and they seem to love each other. Thanks Rachel

    Thank you so much! I know very little about introducing a new dog and one time we adopted an unsocialized overprotective food aggressive not properly introduced big dog to my small dog Harvey and lets just say that got into a bad fight and now my small dog Harvey is now half blind from that and I experience PTSD from it. We returned the dog of course and about 6 months later we tried to get a new dog. Nope. I was not past the trama enough yet. Fast forward to now a year and 6 months from the indecent and I think I’m finally past the trama enough to get a goldendoodle puppy for an emotional support/ service dog and train it myself. My dog I have rn is 9 years old, half blind, doxin chihuahua mix and I’m still slightly terrified to bring any other dog into the home and I’m afraid Harvey (my small dog) is now scared of big dogs too and I’m afraid they might play too rough and my small dog Harvey doesn’t know how to play with other dogs and will just growl. Any tips?

    • @mackingcheese
      @mackingcheese 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      There’s a brand of dog food called Nature’s Logic that has really healthy ingredients and isn’t crazy expensive. It’s about $66 dollars for a 25 pound bag (price varies depending on the flavor) and they also make canned and raw food. It’s still a bit pricey but it’s really good quality and doesn’t have any junk in it so it’s worth the price.

    I watched the video of what you feed your dog and I split the recipe in half as my dogs ideal adult weight is about half yours. Would you say this will be okay or should I add more or less? He is 8 weeks old currently so I don't know if I should slowly let him eat raw or just give him the recipe when he gets home. The person who gave him to us fed him kibble and after looking into kibble I was very grossed out so I have decided to go raw :)

    This video is sooo helpful! Your videos are all very helpful. I have an unusual situation and need advice! My neighbor gotten a 10 weeks old male Boston terrier and they are planning to return it to the breeder after having him for a week for temperament incompatibility:( i have a 32 weeks old female Boston terrier now and I would love to adopt him. They have already met at their house for the first time but she had her ecollar at that time for she was still recovering from spayed operation so the interaction was very minimal. The male Boston is a biter and definitely a barker so I could see he kind the got scared with my Boston. At that time I wasn’t aware that the family wanted to return their puppy so the first meeting was not a neutral ground. Any advise? Should I still try to meet them up again in a neutral place when I’m rehoming the puppy?

    Hi Rachel, we have just brought home a beautiful 10 wk black lab ♥
    Unfortunately our 11yr old shitzu is terrified of the lab puppy.
    The lab puppy is full of energy and just wants to play but our shitzu is not happy and druling alot which shows me she's really stressed.
    I've created safe zones in the house where our shitzu can go to rest and not be bothered but I also don't want her to hide there all day and feel unsafe in our home.
    Any advice so so appreciated and I will take on board also what you've taught in this video too.
    Thanks so much Lisa from New Zealand 🇳🇿
