Maybe you have another dog in your home or a cat that you need to train your dog around. Kids can make the training process challenging because they're just so squeaky and giggly around your dog. In this video, we'll talk about the best way to manage your dog so that they can get the best information possible. Your other pets will thank you..

One of the most difficult things I've run into is trying to train my new rescue dog while also having a roommate who isn't totally open to dog training. It's hard to set ground rules when they don't think the rules matter in the first place, and then suddenly all the blame for bad habits falls on me :/

I wish I lived near you so I could attend your classes but I am from the U.K. and started following your channel before I got the puppy and then from the first day he came home! I wish I had found you when I had my previous dogs I realised I could have done better with them. I now recognise bad owners a lot more. As it is them that needs training ! I wish all owners had to do a basic course before being allowed to own a dog or that breeders encouraged owners to look and follow your courses before they took pup home

Thank you for all of your wonderful training video's. They are helping me so much to train our 5 month old rescue. Because of your excellent video on how to properly trim your dogs nails I had success today- not only with our new rescue puppy, but also with our 8 year old dog who has always been extremely difficult to work with trimming his nails. Tonight he just sat there happily in my lap after desensitizing him by touching his paws, nails etc and treating him! I really enjoy watching your video's and love the respect you have for each other.

It's so hard... did not even think about this when I got my shar pei pup. I could literally cry sometimes when I'm being dragged about outside. Trying to be patient and calm and keep him by my side while the children charge ahead with my other dog, then turn and call him 😂. And I can hear you all say you should walk him separately... it's not always practical to do that. I won't give up 💪

I’ve learned: ALWAYS carry turkey slices when outdoors with my puppy and enforce a rule that ALL dogs walk together, no one pulls ahead and no one lags behind. Pack mentality. I’m not a trainer. Works great for my pup tho.
If you have a backyard to practice with him, that’s great too. Teaching my pup to “come” on command and rewarding her when she does has been great for her obedience but it’s still an uphill battle with an older dog in the house 😬 I get you. Frustrating! Obedience training for him is money well spent as well. Also getting the whole family to participate in his training (timeouts, rewards, practice, etc). Being on the same page will help him learn faster. Good luck!

We tried the least in the house strategy, but, our young Malinois just went at it like ‘ Thank you for the new chew toy’ whichnis a share. His constant need for attention, esp negative, leads to regular hostage-taking of gloves, slippers, mobile phones, Steins of yarn. As he’s getting big enough to reach the whole dining table, this is becoming tiring. What else can we use ?

I would definitely say yes. I adopted a rescue dog last year at 2 years old, almost no basic commands were known as she was a puppy mill dog. We worked tirelessly to teach her the basic commands as you would teach a puppy, and she picked up on it really quickly. I then recently adopted a 16 week old pup last month. I now train them together for basic commands, and then separately to work on any additional or new commands. This helps them solidify the learning but also bond through training together each day.

Can you maybe explain why my male 4yr old seems to appear happy to be greeted by a stranger but on the second pat he will bark, his body language says back of dont come near me....is it protection for me or is he a bit fearful....as I'd really wish to end this behaviour......to me he is a bit unpredictable which has made walking a bit stressful lately

We have 3 boys: 5 m/o jack russell/tibetan spaniel Chappy, 9 y/o rat-cha Charley, and 9 y/o XXL sized cat Ozzy. Charley is the smallest, Ozzy is the biggest. The new puppy adores Ozzy & follows him around whenever we put them in the same room together. We were hoping the two dogs would more so bond, but Charley is a lot less tolerant of the puppy than Ozzy is (i.e. will snap at him if he follows him around or lays too close to him whereas Ozzy allows it). Chappy gets way more time with Charley than he does with Ozzy, but the respect just isnt there like it is for Ozzy. Is there any way to help this?
Also, when Ozzy jumps up on to the high furniture, bed, or tables (which we allow), Chappy gets frustrated that he can’t follow and starts barking unbearably loudly and shrilly. What can be done?
