    This video makes me so happy! This was my biggest question because I put my puppy in the crate at night and during the day we have lots of cuddles and I was wondering if that was bad… but in saying that he knows when its bed time at night and sleeps all through the night without problems in a different room too! Hes just gone 12 weeks old.

    My pup is crate trained for the night, he sleeps elsewhere during the day and has done since day one… I’ve just discovered your channel as now my pup has gained confidence, his recall has gone downhill. He comes back no probs with no distraction but if he sees any person he just wants to say hello and go home with them 😬 he’s not fussed about other dogs

    Hello Will.
    I have lived in the Philippines for five (5) years and am very happy with my wife.
    In the coming days/weeks we will be looking at land in the provinces of Luzon.
    One or two hectares for me so that I can keep and train dogs again as a partner and to protect my wife and the farm.
    Naturally imported working lines. Exclusively Molosser.
    I've been following your videos since I've lived here and I agree 100% with what you said.
    Really great content 👍🏽😇🌍😎
    Regards Marcus - the German 😁🇵🇭🌞🕶️⛱️

    I have an 8 week old American Bulldog cross who we picked up from the DogsTrust on Sunday. It's the first time I've used a crate for a dog so all quite new to me. At night she's fantastic. She sleeps in it with no problems, let's us know when she needs to toilet so we can take her to the garden. She seems happy in her crate at night, but in the day she'd rather be with us cuddled up. We are happy for her to cuddle with us so that's no problem but leaving her may prove difficult. Finding our feet atm but hopefully buying a run to connect to her crate will help with the being left alone training.

    Hi Will. Great video once again! This question was exactly one that I have been wondering about so thank you for a great answer. I have another question going off of this one …
    I love my dogs to sleep in bed with me! I’m getting my puppy in 9 days! And I 100% want her to sleep with me. But do I start off with crate training at night still? Or can I start her in bed with me and be vigilant on crate training during the day! I hope this makes sense. This is something I really want answering but I can’t find any info on. Thank you for amazing content. X

    Hi there trying to work on crate training with my 12 week puppy. I had bedding in it initially but she started peeing on her bedding. Despite frequent potty breaks. I took the bedding out and no more peeing. Not sure what to do about having no bedding in the crate?

    Τhe members of the family might all agree to allow the dog being on the sofa or sleep on their bed but they don' t know that most likely a lot of problems will occur from that. I think that this is a very risky advice to give. Other than that I really like and enjoy your videos!

    My five month old boxer puppy is crate trained at night however when I go out during the day she howls, pees and eats the crate tray. I cover the crate sides. Should I cover it all and make it darker? I give puzzle toys I leave her for two hours tops. It's driving me crazy. Any suggestions?

    Thanks for the info Will. Just curious though, would the process of create training be the same for an older dog s it would for a new puppy or are there some different ways I should go about create training an older dog of 9yrs old? Thanks for all the support you've given us!

    Hey man I started following recently and love your channel. We have a new 4 month old Cane Corso puppy that we are training and your videos are absolutely helping. However I have a question, I had commented on another video where the guy is taking his dog and laying on the ground to show the dog it’s not the alpha and he is. Well the person commented and said what I’m doing is wrong because dogs don’t actually have an alpha dynamic and I need to actually research it because it’s bot real? What do you think, do dogs have an alpha mentality and is there a pack order?

    Hi, I have a question. Does your training have anything to do with your dog’s personality? I mean, my parents have Vizsla, they are getting older and that dog is for them basically like another child. There’s a lot of spoiling through snacks, the dog has basically no boundaries... the thing is she doesn’t seem to be affectionate towards anybody. Doesn’t lick, won’t lay her head on you, If you come to cuddle, she will just walk away. I wanted to know If It’s only in her nature and that’s how she is, or If It’s a leadership thing? Like she doesn’t know any commands, no boundaries as I said...because all of my friends’ dogs seem to be kind of loving towards them.

    • @1packatak
      @1packatak 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Every dog of every breed has a different personality. She just may be more of a loner. It may also depend on how often you visit.

    • @dorotheeritter9238
      @dorotheeritter9238 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Maybe the dog of your parents does have boundaries, but not so many?! My dog has just a few strong boundaries (no bed, return when I call her, no means no), and that‘s it. Training is all about the personality of your dog. If your dog is anxious, or very outgoing, nervous, whatever, everything will be different.

      Generally as a rule Vizsla get along with everyone and everything, they do however tend to thrive in a home that mentally challenges them, I've found dogs that act aloof with humans haven't had a lot of human engagement exercises ... tug, fetch, look at me, ... as a pup I spend at least the first two weeks just working on engagement you basely teach the dog that no matter what's going on your the party.

      Hi! I'm a dog trainer and behaviourist but I'm also a telepathic animal communicator and I can tell you based on communicating with animals and also cientifically speaking , your parents dog is going to react and feel the same way that your parents do. Basically the dog is going to mirror One of your parents. If you pay attention you Will see with whom does the dog look like more. If One of your parents is not very affectionate, the dog is mirroring that in them. It has always to do with the energy of one specific person.

    I was watching one of your videos about crate training and you said to use a kong and put the puppy in there go out the room and come back and then take the kong away.
    I have been trying to do this method but my puppy is not interested in any of the foods I put in the kong enough to not cry as soon as I put him there when I leave the room.
    Any suggestions would be much appreciated as I am at a loss now.

    • @willathertoncaninetraining

      Hey Emz, thanks for watching! If your dog isn't fussed about food trying a favourite toy they love and only give it to them when they are in the crate. So do exactly the same with a toy as we say with the Kong. Hope that helps!

    How cruel to put a dog in a crate, it should be against the law. Our dogs run in and out at will through their own door. Before the door they had free run of the house and did fine. Buy a pet and condition it to confinement right off the bat. Cruel.

    • @nowaytofail
      @nowaytofail 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Wow, dont you find it strange that you write this to a professional? Believe it or not, crate training is good for the dog, you are just clueless.

    • @j1massie
      @j1massie 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Why is it cruel? You have to confine yourself everytime you wear a seatbelt. Children are confined in car seats. Dogs need to be confined at times for their own safety!

    • @hippopotatomoose
      @hippopotatomoose 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      So placing a baby in a crib is cruel, according to your logic?
      So, people who rent or live in apartments should install a door so their dog can run in and out?
      SMDFH 🤦
