@mikericharadson8983, I've always said the same thing. It's like his voice envelopes your complete body and you connect with his emotions as he sings any song. Steve "The Voice" Perry is, and always will be the greatest rock singer of all time.
AMAZING is one word to describe him! ❤❤ The group really did him wrong! 😭 Not only a great singer but a great man! He knew even at a young age, that People are more important than fame! Especially someone you love!
i wish I didnt see Bon Jovi live...they lowered this cat walk and the singer ran right past and he shook his damn hair and i got covered in his sweat...it was gross...
Timeless music. We got to see many bands that still carry the musical ball today. I got out of high school in '77, and the music wore out many a tape deck. One thing you don't hear today is my player just ate my tape. Glory days. ✌
If it makes you feel like you miss those times think of how bad it is for those of us that were there. Those were the days - no responsibility except to go to school and every new song that came out was basically an instant classic. Bands and solo artists were all crazy talented and nobody used autotune. You could either do it or you couldn’t.
Does Dimash have original music that he sings or are they all covers? I’ve seen quite a few reaction channels that have other artists with amazing vocals but there’s no originality. There are 3 women who ofc I can’t remember their names, Home Free, & an acapella group.
Steve Perry's nickname was "THE VOICE"!!! How true!!! There concerts were amazing!! His voice is exactly like it is on their records!! No auto tunning just his naturally amazing voice!!!
Journey guitarist Neal Schon was a teenage progidy, growing up in the Bay Area. He was asked to join Santana and got to jam with the likes of Eric Clapton when they came to town.
On Steve vs Dimash… Dimash is incredible. What he can do with his voice is frankly shocking. He blows me away and has brought me to tears. However, I’m not playing his music in my car, with my son, on the beach, before my hockey games, etc. I was 15 when this song came out. And while I might love a Dimash video once in a while or might even go to one show, Journey/ Steve Perry can be a daily listen for decades. Part of the soundtrack of my life…..

Listen to Wheel in the Sky. During the guitar solo, you will hear Steve take his note to God in heaven. It's in the background. Listen carefully. And yeah I suck around till the end of the video.
One thing you might want to take note of is that Journey is sort of a spin-off of Santana. The guy playing keyboards, Gregg Rolie, was the singer of some of Santana's greatest hits, such as Black Magic Woman. I believe he was 21 when he sang that. He and the lead guitarist, Neal Schon, along with Santana's road manager, left Santana and formed, what is now called Journey. (Santana's road manager became Journey's manager). Neal was actually only 15 when he joined Santana, and I believe 16, when he played on BMW. Neal and Gregg were inducted into the Rock n' Roll Hall of Fame with both Journey AND Santana. To assimilate Steve into the band without too much disruption to Journey's former fans, as they were mostly an instrumental group in the beginning with some songs lead by Gregg, the manager created a space where Steve and Gregg would share vocals on several of their first songs..."Feeling That Way", "Anytime", "Just the Same Way". All great songs you might want to check out.
WHEEL IN THE SKY! LIVE FROM OSAKA JAPAN 1980!!! Freddy Mercury once said Steve Perry was the best vocalist in the world in an interview! Never heard anyone say that about Dimash!
I miss the 80s I time I would love to go back to. Graduating in 1987. Life was fun, you had your friends, cruising around, and listening to the greatest music ever made
'Wheel in the sky' by Journey was the song in 1978 that broke the band huge commercially... It was written before Steve Perry (vocals) joined the band but he did the studio track and it became a massive hit. 'Lights' was another huge single from the album 'Infinity' (Journey's 4th album, their first w/ Steve Perry) and the album sold 3x platinum and transformed Journey from a cult band into an arena rock sensation. "Lovin' touchin' squeezin' " was the huge single in 1979 from the 'Evolution' album in 1979 - another 3x platinum success... It was a song Steve Perry wrote about his ex cheating on him. 'Departure' was Journey's next album in 1980... and "Any way you want it" became the big single and the album was another 3x platinum hit... An ironic title because founding Journey keyboardist Gregg Rolie departed from the band in 1981 and was replaced by keyboardist Jonathan Cain.
I watch you all the time. If you want to hear the original Journey check out Of a Lifetime. I was fortunate to see them every weekend at Winter Land in San Francisco.

I loved your commentary about how Steve Perry's voice /Journey, can take you to that place in "Journey's world" encapsulated in their performances. And yes about what the song is about: when Steve sings, hold tight, hold tight, ooh baby hold tight is exactly what you think he's singing about. People say you don't hear "The Voice", you feel The Voice of Steve Perry.
Dimash is an amazing classical musician, singer, song writer with an incredible ability to replicate virtually any music he hears. Since Perry's voice is so inimitable from every possible perpective, the most Dimash could hope for, outside of replication, is to master the mechanics of what makes Perry so great and then cultivate his own tone in the genre of the great SP. There is no one comparable Steve Perry. Like some others, it's his uniquness that makes him stand alone.
The best singer that you’ve (probably) NEVER heard is Miljenko Matijević of SteelHeart. He has a range that is unbelievable. He has, I believe, the clearest and cleanest voice, up and down the scale, in Rock history. His highs are effortless and precise. Their debut album was released in 1990 and had 2 power ballad hits, “I’ll Never Let You Go”, and “She’s Gone”, and a banger, “Can’t Stop Me Lovin’ You”. They were on tour performing in Denver off the momentum of their debut album, when a 1,000# lighting truss fell striking Mili on the back of the head and smashing his face into the stage floor, nearly taking his life. He had a broken nose, broken jaw, and a broken cheekbone, the hardest bone in the human body, and traumatic brain injuries. This screeched their career to a halt. What I don’t like about Dimash and other karaoke cover TH-cam singers, Tommy Johansson, etc. is that they are just trying to imitate the original singers. They don’t change it up and make it their own. It’s like, “Look at me, I can sing it too.” What’s the point in that? If I want to hear the song I’ll listen to the original unless they did something with their cover version to make it different or interesting. If it’s just karaoke, I’m not interested. Plus, in Rock music most wrote their own songs. The guy, or girl, that wrote the song, made it exactly what they wanted it to be. That’s the “art” in artist. These cover singers are NOT artists. At least not in the covers that they are doing. They need to get bands, write songs, make records, and tour, etc. You can’t even buy their “music” because it’s just TH-cam videos.
@@stevenewcomer8837 so true. Steve Perry felt every word he ever sang, which is why he eventually burned out. Steve Perry and Neal Schon (the guitarist) were amazing together. Neal would mimic Steve's voice with his guitar, and they would play off each other's abilities. Steve's voice and Neal's guitar are the most potent one-two punch in rock history, in my opinion.
On the radio they would play Lovin, Touchin, squeezin then go directly into City of the Angels. So whenever I hear Lovin I automatically start singing City of the angels right after it!!!
Bit of trivia for you. Steve auditioned for them several times before they finally hired him. Turns out it was his voice that skyrocketed Journey into stardom.

On the radio they would play Lovin, Touchin, squeezin then go directly into City of the Angels. So whenever I hear Lovin I automatically start singing City of the angels right after it!!!
Going to see them in concert tomorrow!!!

Awww great reaction! This is my absolute favorite Journey song and Steve Perry looks amazing here! Of course his voice is always on point.
Lovin touchin squeezin from the Midnight Special is a great version. The clothing is epic.
Stone In Love is a fabulous song! Epic guitar solo!
I miss it! Best thing the memories associated with it!
Lol you make me feel old. I’m only 55 and remember feeding the jukebox to play Journey - Stone in love over and over as we fed stargate quarters at one of the diners .
Your comments reminded me of a Billy Joel song... "the good old days weren't always so good and tomorrow ain't as bad as it seems" from his song "Keeping the Faith" ...since I know you're down with Billy!
