As an owner of a 2022 Rav4 Hybrid, it is definitely a bit boring and the Kia interior definitely looks way nicer (even with the 2023 tech update with the Rav). Exterior, for me I prefer the Rav4 look but that’s just me. I’d still buy the Rav4 myself but I can understand why people would pick the Sportage too. Kia just isn’t my brand, nothing against them though. Personally I don’t think you can go wrong with either the Rav or Sportage, both nice cars.

Same too. I’d feel a lot more confident with the RAV4, with a plan to put 400,000km’s on it, the service network and depreciation.

I did 4750000 k’s in my last RAV and apart from services, water pump and a few other wear and tear parts I did nothing to it. It still ran beautifully! This is the reason why I purchased a new RAV4 AWD Hybrid Cruiser last year. I’ve done 11000k’s so far and average 5.3L/100. They may not be the most high tech but they do what Toyota does and keep on going.

Hahaha my other Rav4 (2012) has been in the family since brand new and only done 128,000km. There’s a clear reason why I didn’t sell it when buying my 2022 Rav. The 2022 Rav Hybrid is sitting at 16,000km, so no I don’t drive that far and I know both of my Rav’s still have a long time left before I need to do anything big to them. It’s great to hear such positive experiences from other owners, just reassures me that mine won’t break down on me, provided I can keep maintaining them.

and dealer dont know thats wrong with it.
do not buy KIA or Hyundai hybrid. V6 is OK ish.
but hyundai hybrid is the worst. get toyota or honda. or even mazda.

@@tocreatee5736 Oh wow. That is just sad. I’d be interested to hear other people’s experiences with the Kia and Hyundai Hybrids to see if they are similar or different. I think when it comes to hybrids, Toyota is king overall but there are other hybrid systems from other brands that get good fuel economy and are pretty smooth. But longevity is more of a question mark compared to Toyota hybrids, simply because Toyota hybrids have continued to be developed over time. Best of luck to your brother.

I think the RAV4 looks better than the Kia. I think Kia are amazing these days, especially warranty, but being priced almost comparably… I would go the RAV4 for reliability, longevity, ease of parts and depreciation!
A small thing, but a good example of longevity shown in the video is the tailgate speed. Slower tailgate actuators (like the RAV4) last longer due to the gearing ratio used within, creating less stress wear.

This made me go and look at and test drive both these models. Great cars but for me the KIA I didn’t like the huge sun roof, the one long display screen looked sexy but too many controls buttons and did not like the shiny plastic console at all, it looks like cheap furniture and seeing smudgy finger marks would be annoying.
The RAV4 I seemed to like more in the console for me less is more love the simple layout out. They both drive well but preferred the feel of the RAV.

I’ve been going back and forth between these two cars for a while now and can’t decide. Love the look and feel of both, how they drove/handled on the road was great and personally like the feel of the rav4 slightly mot as it was almost “truck like” when driving it but, I’ve heard Toyotas quality has gone down hill (I know a lot of manufacturers in the us atleast have) and for the price point of rav4s everything is outdated (not a huge deal to me but is somewhat of a factor in my decision). Has the rav4 been holding up for however long you’ve had it now?

I'd pick the Sportage. It has a proper automatic gearbox, not a noisy CVT. Its engine is turbo charged, so it has more torque when you need it. It has a speed limiter which won't let you go past the preset limit which saves you a couple hundred bucks and some demerits and it has 7 years warranty

    • @aussiedeplorable8670

@@aussiedeplorable8670 the ecvt certainly is miles ahead of other cvts and is very close to TC feels in low speeds but gun that engine and you will still hear it roar. It is loud and noisy on the open road. Also drive it in a downhill road like a mountain area and you will find yourself pushing on that break often. A Torque converter is beautiful, smooth, quiet and supports engine breaking when driving downhill, so yeah, classic automatic for me anyday

Rav 4 look is aged but in a good way, and with a new refresh due, it'll be interesting to wait and see as the Kia and Hyundai won't see a styling update for at least another 3 or 4. Toyota's reliability likely still trumps Hyundai's, with the latter's quick run through of models and huge range of car options in multiple segments has probably hurt the reliability of their engineering . I'm in the market to upgrade from my 2018 Sportage but I'm going to wait for the RAV 4 update next year to weigh options between these two, the Tucson, and the CR-V.

The RAV4 hybrid curves down so much at the door frame that both my spouse & I hit our heads entering the vehicle. We're not that tall, only 5' 9". We're buying the Kia Sportage Prestige Hybrid. Lots more room & the dash console screen doesn't look like they just glued a tablet on the dashboard 😂, like the rav has. Both our kids have had Kia's for over 5 yrs, no issues except having to get a wheel lock for the 2019 Soul. Other daughter loves her Niro like no other car. I want extra cargo room & we like how it sits up higher-- easier on our knees-- so the Sportage is our pick. Now I'm going to watch this vid to see what this guy thinks.

Toyota Australia is cheating customers on map upgrades. I bought my RAV4 Cruiser Hybrid in 2021. My average annual mileage is around 10,000 km. Given the low mileage there is no great rush on my part to do the annual service which I normally do within a month from each anniversary date. During the service I have the free map upgrade (customers are entitled for 3 map upgrades free). However on my 3rd anniversary service, Toyota refused to give me the 3rd free map upgrade. After a couple of lengthy discussions with Toyota Customer Service I was told that I am not entitled for the 3rd free map upgrade as I have gone pass the 3rd anniversary date by a few weeks. This is gross cheating. Shame on Toyota Australia.

It has both petrol and electric motor driving one gearbox and 4wd system which makes it AWD in every scenario. The rav4's AWD feels kinda fake to me. Much like the AWD in the X3 for instance. Like what happens when your battery is empty and you need AWD but it's not available anymore.

The Sportage interior definitely dunks on the retro and gaudy orange RAV4 and the cameras, entertainment and safety technology are much better. It's a shame the Sportage Hybrid doesn't offer an AWD option. It's nice that the Sportage Hybrid is a classic torque converter automatic transmission, since I have the Dual-Clutch (DCT) Kia Sportage GT-Line AWD and it sucks; I'll never buy a DCT vehicle again. Why are these idiots treating mpg-based cruisers like sports cars? Nobody who actually buys either of these is looking for anything more than a reliable and cheap to operate vehicle. I'm getting about 45mpg on my RAV4 Limited Hybrid AWD after 5 months of ownership. Only issue I have is I'm only about halfway through the manual to understand all the features it has. I always have to look to see which side the gas cap is on since I don't visit the pumps more than once a month so I forget where the darn thing is.

I've worked at a car repair company for almost 30 years, and Kia's hybrid engine is 15 years behind Toyota's.
If you don't ride Asian cars like Kia on flat, paved roads, parts will break.
The reason why Kia used cars are not running in developing countries such as the Middle East, Africa, and South America is because the engines and parts are not durable. The way to check the quality and durability of a car is not based on the subjective opinion of an engineer, but by checking the used market.
As for the interior, it's made by a European designer, so it looks more futuristic than Toyota, but if Toyota and German cars are S-class, Kia is B-class.
Kia does not have an engine capable of completing the Paris-Dakar Rally.
In the first place, if you are looking for good design in a car, I think you should buy one made in Italy.
