Great review, close competition. Have had hybrid Tucson since July and done about 7000k’s. So far a great car and averaged around 6.1. Fun to drive, great tech and has a good amount of rush when needed.
To all the blind supporters of Hyundai: My car had a transmission fluid leak, then engine oil leak, was stolen once, and faced two theft attempts. I really loved the car since it was my first, which is why I fixed it every time. Looking back, it was a bad decision. I wish I had moved on and bought another car from a different manufacturer as soon as the problems started. It had 80k on odo when I traded in this BS.
We're talking about a topic that doesn't even have basic information about cars from 10 years ago to 5 years ago. Hyundai Motor is the only automaker that makes all kinds of transmissions and electric car parts by itself. There were many Japanese fanboys in Japan 20 years ago that said Panasonic and Sony had better quality than Korean Samsung and LG Electronics' televisions, but now there is not a single human being on the planet who says that. Currently, Japanese home companies are no longer able to make TVs or just getting parts and assembling them from Samsung or LG in Korea. It's only natural that Japanese companies without electric car technology will soon shrink to a large number. Comparing Hyundai Motor with Japanese cars five years ago 10 years ago is a pointless pun.
I initially planned to buy the top-spec Hyundai Tucson, which was available for next-day delivery. However, I felt it was overpriced and changed my mind. After that, I considered the Corolla Cross but ended up waiting a long time, only to realize it would not be available. I then moved on to the top-spec RAV4 and am currently in my third month of the waiting period. I eagerly waiting for mu order now. Recently, I saw the 2026 version of the Kia Sportage that was launched in Korea. 😂😂😁😁😜😜
Fun facts, My Rav4 hybrid give me average of 4.8 to 5.0 L/100Km. Distance to empty 1,009Km on 55L tank. 25k current ODO. Driving habbit of a Hybrid is totally different from an ICE engine.
I'd stay away from any Hyundai gas engines. They are notorious for burning oil after 50k. Even Hyundai themselves acknowledge this to the point that they said 1 liter of burned oil per 1500 km is considered normal. Just sold my 2017 tucson and replaced it with a Rav4 PHEV. My 2017 tucson was a 2.0 non turbo burns 1 liter/1000 km. Imagine how much a turbo engine would be consuming after 5 years. Hyundai is about bells and whistles but Toyota is about reliabilty. Imagine the Prius that came out more than 10 years ago that is using the system as these Rav4 Hybrids are still rolling on the roads with no problems.
Rav4 engine is both port and direct injection = super reliable. Its eCVT is not belt driven but uses planetary gears, less moving parts and reliable. Pinnacle engineering. Plus the AWD (eFour) system avoids having rear differential and drive shaft. Simple and much cheaper maintenance as no rear diff to service.
As an owner of a top spec X-trail epower that’s done 13k with majority being Sydney suburban conditions with approx 30% of those km at highways speeds, I believe that it will compete very well against both of these cars. For me it’s sitting on 6.3l/100km over its life thus far. Before I get flamed by RAV4 owners, resale value means nothing to me and nor servicing costs which will be in line with the Hyundai. Let’s see a match up of X-trail against either or both of these.
@ That’s a decent return for the Tucson. X-Trail is almost 2 tonnes and feature packed so getting even within 1l/100 to the RAV4 is a very good return IMO. If I didn’t have to do a specific hilly drive 3 times a week,I’m certain that my return over full tank would be high 4’s or low 5”s at worst real world and not what display shows.
If features and tech are top of mind, probably go for the Tucson. But if you want to save more money long term, the RAV4 is the one for you. Although it's a tie in fuel economy, your biggest loss during ownership will always be depreciation. The RAV4's resale value is second to none thanks to Toyota's sterling brand reputation. I'd pick the one that leaves more money in my pocket.
I have a 2018 Kia Sportage will 85,000 and no problem. The Hyundai and Kia made after 2018 are bulletproof. Unfortunately 2016 models before are all junk . Toyota has dropped their game and Hyundai are taking over .
Absolutely idiotic verdict. I'll take the Toyota quality and resale value easily over the Hyundai. Toyota makes the best, most reliable hybrid in the world.
I cannot recommend a hyundai. Toyota's ECVT is a tank and never breaks. The engine is dual injection which means less to no carbon buildup. The touchscreen climate control kills any car for me. The rav4 doesn't have panoramic moonroof is a bummer. HUDs are a gimmick, but so is the digital rear view mirror. You want one? just buy a mirror dashcam with backup camera and u get one urself, it's 70$ on amazon I had that in my old civic. From a reliability standpoint, Hyundai just doesn't cut it, no matter whatever review says - toyotas are beasts and will continue to be. I wont be the person putting 50K of my hard earnt cash to gamble on a Korean car that may become 0 in less than 10 years. Just no. I understand where the host is coming from but not looking into the mechanical side of things is a huge missed opportunity for me. You've got to talk about reliability and longevity that's the #1 consideration for me. Disclaimer - picked up rav 4 xle premium hybrid after 2.5 years waiting in Canada.
I do not see the reason for economy comparison. If you want economy buy a vw id4 or a Tesla model y. Andboth of them Rav4 and Tuscon are not even capable offroaders.
Omor hyundai all the way. For all if una wey dey compare hyundai to toyota just dey play no be because say toyota dey already before hyundai una come dey cap shit !

@@MdnDalle Toyota rav4 has a Ecvt transmission and it's bulletproof I have a 2016 Hyundai tuscon sport and at 101k I had to replace the transmission. Hyundai and Kia are junk compared to Toyota. Everyone knows that !!!
@grandmastert01 Praising Hyundai without actually owning one is pretty easy as Hyundai looks much better, and has better tech overall. Unfortunately, I also fall for those so called "better" once! Oh God, such a BS car manufacturer! Back to toyota, it doesn't have the interior beauty or polished infotainment, but it has something that I never experienced with Hyundai- Peace of mind!

Very good review. And the reviewer's choice of words in explaining the features and the cars need to be commended
Never ever going to buy another Hyundai in my life. Did this mistake once and I still regret this decision!
What happened?
What was the problem that you had with Hyundai Hasan?
It is pointless making this statement if you don’t back up
your statement with cold hard facts.

@ I am NOT for Hyundai. I am a ANTI toyota.
Toyota gives less for what the buyers paid for.

Tucson is so much better looking. RAV4 is too utilitarian.
@@karl6203 wrong sir. While Tuscon might look fancy and different the look wont age well.

This was really well presented and fun to watch. I like this reviewer.
Tucson is up for new gen. Rav4 too traditional
The Tucson has a defect in which the vehicle stops while driving and the instrument panel turns off.

100% better system on the Toyota if you're keen on hanging on to it out of warranty..ask the taxi owners.
Hyundai is it👍🏻👌🏼😉 better!. 😎

In fact its event better i did the math wrong as not used to km/L. So its doing 17km/1L which translates into 5.88L/100km
Lol thats even more economic than my other car vw polo 3 cylinders
Thanks for taking the time to actually add proper subtitles to your videos. They are way better than the autogenerated ones
The Rav 4 is much better looking. I hope they don't ruin it in the next update.

Hyunda. Nice test v
Cx50 ❤
Rav 4 for me. I wouldn't buy anything else. 😊
No mention of long term running costs of services. Toyota have fixed price, Hyundai??? Could be a big cost difference in running costs.
