    In the military, there’s a saying that “the mission dictates the gear.” In other words, use the tools appropriate to the job. Just as it would be impractical to use a Barrett .50 rifle for room clearing, so would it also be impractical to use an M4 to take out the engine block of a truck.
    A more mundane example would be using a riding lawn mower for a 200 square foot lawn or an old-school push mower if you’ve acres of lawn to cut.
    You want the right tools for the right job. The same goes when selecting protective gear such as body armor and armor carriers.

    Unfortunately I ordered the Freeman before I watched this video. FORTUNATELY! I got a hold of the customer service department at AR500 and upgraded to the Testudo package. At 6'2" 230lbs the Freeman was going to be too small. Big Shout Out to the customer service team for taking care of my issues and thanks for the informative video! ....against all enemies, foreign and domestic.

    the number one comment I get with my plate carrier is, "why is that so short?". I have the veritas and I'm 6'0" 210lbs. it sits on me like the taller guy in the video is with the testudo. I know it's fine based on your videos and such. However I think everyone thinks it should meet the waistline of my belt.

      Unless you can get custom curved plates (for the obvious), just measure sitting from the base of the sternal notch, to about an inch below the lowest rib. Safety over comfort.

    If I’m 5’10 140 what size carrier should I run ?

    • @AR500Armor
      @AR500Armor  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Exellent question.
      For wearers between 5'4" - 6'3" we recommend 10"x12" size armor for adequate vital organ footprint protection.
      We have several carriers in this size, however, the carrier is primarily just a means to hold the armor against your body.
      Most have similar features like MOLLE and a Cummerbund, but the main question here is will you be using this in an every day concealment capacity, or an overt outer carrier?
      If using this for every day usage, we recommend our concealment carrier and soft armor. This armor is effective against handguns that are used in 90% + of armored encounters.
      All other carriers will fill the roll for an overt, on top of clothing type kit (Testudo, Veritas, Valkyrie, and Invictus) and will accept MOLLE style pouches and accessories.
      Regardless of what you choose, remember you need to train in it!

      @@AR500Armor sure, I would assume that the weight of the vest isn’t all supposed to be on your shoulders, you should tighten the side straps so that some is on your chest/stomach as well. My issue is that even if I tighten them all the way, it’s still very loose and I can’t wear it for more than 30 minutes before my shoulders ache. I also have side panels so that obstructs some of the possible tightening I could do.

    • @AR500Armor

    • @AR500Armor
      @AR500Armor  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Our Testudo Gen II can be modified to fit larger or smaller size than the standard range of users (M-XXXL) as it ships from us.
      Simply unlace the cummerbund in the back and replace a longer section of shock cord (Stretch cord) through the eyelet's in the back.
      This allows the cummerbund to expand to a wider diameter around. The ultimate size you could get your carrier could range from as large as the length of cord you replace between the cummerbund.
      Hope this helps!

    Unfortunately, their sales do not include the products they are promoting.
    I’ve tried several times to respond to their frequent specials sent via text message, but none of these promotions include the 11x14 plates shown here with “Mutt and Jeff” demonstrating the need for properly sizing your package.
    If you are an average-sized American who is anywhere North of 5-1/2 feet/200+ pounds, just try and find a properly-fitting vest/plate carrier and you won’t ever find any 11 x 14 plates in their specials.
    Suggestion: Given that most Americans are taller and wider, I recommend putting in a normal sized person in the sales department, who decides exactly what is going to be offered in these promotions.

    • @AR500Armor
      @AR500Armor  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hello Maximum. Thank you for your feedback and interest in our product.
      Wanted to share with you some information on plate size recommendation as I think this will help with your concern.
      Plate size recommendation is based on operator height.
      Body fat percentage does not negate or make your vital organ footprint larger.
      10"x12" size plates are recommended for users between the height range of 5'4" - 6'3". A quick google search will reveal this height range covers 98.4% of adult males.
      The main problem we have seen with putting 11"x14" size plates on sale is a significant uptick in returns, citing the plate size as too heavy and limit mobility (as is expected when using plates that are too large).
      Hope this info helps!

    • @maximummarklee
      @maximummarklee ปีที่แล้ว

      @@AR500Armor Well, it would have been more helpful three months ago when I offered up this feedback. I appreciate your effort to help dispel the unscrupulous myth that "the customer is always right" ... Because ... REASONS ... Keep using that 98.4% to rationalize - and cloud - the effectiveness of your responses.
      Because consumers of life-safety gear are always SO receptive to being treated like every other customer a-holes that you must tolerate. Barely it would seem. Customers never want to be considered as unique individuals. The nerve!
      Pop Quiz: Describe a company who tells customers what they want is wrong 98.4% of the time, then what they really need - after ignoring what the customer asked for? Answer: Historically-speaking, a *struggling* business whose lesson was that they shouldn't ever forget there are always more hungry competitors out here. Respectful of their customers too.

This video is to help identify what area of your chest your vital organs are under, and how to get the correct sized armor plate. Our 10" x 12" size plates work for anyone between the sizes of 5'4" - 6' 2" while our 11" x 14" plates work for anyone taller than 6' 3".
