As a Calgarian, my favorite part of this is that NOTHING he said he wanted to do, has been implemented. New stations are terribly designed, half assed because "it can be modified/extended/fixed later". The motto of Calgary is "I know its not right, but it can be fixed later for some extra money"

I’d kill to see an ep of undercover boss at my workplace. Just spent a ridiculous amount on a superficial facelift to the store but the tills are literally falling apart as you use them, we are understaffed because even high school drop outs won’t work in these conditions.
I could just imagine that ep.
“My till froze, it’s been like this for 10min and I have a lineup of grumpy customers now what do I do!?!?!?!”
“Well have you tried hitting the side like this? Alright, that’s not working let me undo the tape holding this panel from falling off. There’s your problem, the wires fell out. Let me skin this and add a bit more wine to the exposed wire and I’ll ram it up there again and meanwhile while it’s having a freak out trying to reboot let’s move people to this till. Here’s the op number and pw for someone who quit in a fit of rage and despair because you can’t use your own until the stupid machine fixes itself.”
“Why not call for a repair tech?”
Because our one repair guy that [Company] will allow us to hire will just do the exact same thing. We can’t repair our machines because they haven’t made parts for them in almost 20 years.”
    “Ahhhh. The tills on fire!”

It hasn’t changed unfortunately. Thankfully she had a desk job in the maintenance control office, but she still had to walk through the garage every single day. Spring Gardens also houses Transit headquarters, which really gets me going as all Doug had to do was get off his backside and see the conditions! This is why unions exist.

I've lived in Calgary my entire life and let me tell you, these homeless people are dangerous. I've witnessed a woman randomly get punched by a drunk homeless person, I myself have been threatened with a knife by a homeless person in a train when the cars were empty.
Peace Keepers do their job to protect people so they don't get harmed. As long as you have a bus pass or a ticket (which is only like $3) they won't be a problem to you.

Alright... I get real annoyed when cleaners say "we need a lot of water". You don't. You need very little water, and if done right from the start none at all. If you use a lot of water; it'll just take a few people walking over it and it'll look as if you weren't there at all.
The proper way to clean is to grab a set of microfiber rags or grandma's courtain(linnen fabric). Go one dry passing to pick up all the dust. With you take a spray bottle with water and just a drop of detergent, doesn't matter what kind and it doesn't have to smell, as long as it dissolve fat and grease. While you are doing your first passing you spray stains that you cannot get out with a dry mop and let it work while you go down the stairs.
Do a second passing to take out those dirty stains you earlier sprayed. If the stairs are really greasy, you just spray the mop slighlty, not much, just enough to get it damp without it dripping.
When you are done you collect the dust and shit collected at the bottom in a dustbin and throw it in the garbage.
This way, a set of stairs does not take two hours, but at most half a hour, 45 if you need to clean the rails and glas. Which is done as you go down. Just use a rag and pull it down along the rail as you go, and look for spots on the glas rather than clean the whole.
And again because you didn't drench the stair way with water, it won't suck dirt from people's feet as they pass and thusly look clean for much longer afterwards.
This method is not only for stairs, but all kinds of floor areas in your daily clean. Without using water and chemicals you spare the material you are cleaning, and again since you don't ad and moisture to the floor, it doesn't collect dirt as much.
