BOYS AND GIRLS OF THE SHAAAFT, I AM BACK WITH ANOTHER HOT AND TASTY VIDEO THIS TIME WE ARE LOOKING INTO HOW CLOSE ARK GOT WITH 7 OF ITS CREATURES Huge thanks to our local paleontologist noot sauce for helping with the research on this one
LETS GET RIGHT INTO IT WITH
    NUMBER 7
    THE REX
Ah, the rex! A dinosaur we all learned about as a child. Big, scary, a killer… but how did a rex really look? And how close did ark get? Fossils show the Rex was about 40 feet long and 20 feet tall! NOW THATS HUGE! Height wise ARK got pretty close! Maybe ever so slightly too big! But thats nitpicking! Yes it had tiny little baby arms as well, paired with a HUGE head. Now for the biggest question.. The feathers, should ARK have put feathers on their rex? Well the answer is kind of. Despite many arguments coming about since the discovery of the yutyrannus, the general consensus is they had SOME feathers, but they werent giant chickens they were absolutely not a fully feathered dinosaur.
    COMING IN AT NUMBER 6
    THE RAPTOR
Can we take a second to admire how dang annoying raptors have become on ARK? You cannot take 2 steps without being pounced on by a raptor! Now in the raptor dossier Helena states the ARK raptor is a Utahraptor, surprisingly ARK actually got this pretty right! Apart from one tiny little detail.. The feathers! These prehistoric menaces should have had an almost entire body full of feathers! Honestly though, the ARK raptors still are really good and hit a lot closer to home than one would have thought. Good thing they had that tlc pass or else we would really be ripping into them! But one tiny detail of the ark raptor that tends to really ruffle the feathers of the dinosaur nerds is their hands.. Paws? They should be facing inwards.. To me this isnt the BIGGEST deal out there! But it really should be fixed.
    COMING IN AT NUMBER 5
    THE GIGANTOPITHECUS (gig-an-toe-pith-e-cuss)
AH THE APE OF ARK, BIG AND FORGOTTEN. Really how often do you even think about this girl! Now ARK really took the idea that bigfoot was a giganto and blew it WAY out of proportion! THE GIGANTO WOULDNT HAVE WALKED ON TWO LEGS LIKE THAT ALL THE TIME! The giganto would have been a quadruped. It more than likely COULD walk on two legs but not all the time… Also size wise the ARK version is actually a bit smaller than it would have actually been and definitely not as bulky.. Design wise it really isnt the worst in the game, but it does certainly bug me that it just looks and feels like bigfoot not an actual menacing prehistoric monkey beast! I know the giganto has already had a tlc pass but.. Maybe another round is needed on it to really push it into the spotlight and actually make it cool and fearsome! I know I would jump if I had a giant ape come charging at me screaming like a banshee!
    COMING IN AT NUMBER 4
    THE CARNOTAURUS
Ah the carno.. I know guys, I know I have bullied its arms in the past.. BUT REALLY LOOK AT THEM! But.. unfortunately ARK got them pretty much right.. If anything they are slightly TOO big.. I CANT BELIEVE IM SAYING THIS! But they had some stumps for arms! Now as for the rest of the carno.. Its not really that bad! The carno had a short skull.. Stumpy you could say, just like the rest of it! But the ARK varients head.. Looks a bit too long and bulky! Also.. shockingly, the carnotaurus would have run faster than it does already in ark, a carno being able to run up to 56km/h BUT ONLY IN SHORT BURSTS, making it a super sprinter! HEY TLC PASS 3 SUPER LEGGED CARNOS WITH A SPEED BOOST HEY?
    COMING IN AT NUMBER 3
    THE DILOPHOSAURUS
Ah.. ARK devs.. We can see you really liked Jurassic park.. Taking their version of a dilo and putting it into the game.. Unfortunately.. The real dilo was NOTHING like this! It did NOT have frills! And it absolutely did NOT spit venom! That honestly.. Is a bit ridiculous when you think about it.. Please kids, dont learn your dinosaurs from ARK. The dilo was actually much bigger! And I mean much bigger.. Standing about 2 meters tall! The dilo also had a pair of plate shaped crests on its head! This is a very prominent feature of the dilophosaurus. Now these were also skinny, not the little chubsters we have on ARK now! Now do I think ARK should change these guys and make them more accurate to real life? Honestly no.. as ridiculous and goofy as they may seem compared to what they really were, the ARK version is really closer to what most of us imagine thanks to Jurassic park being a staple for the ARK generation.

Honestly, the Dilo is pretty much the biggest heartbreak in Ark for me.
It's my favorite dinosaur, so I find myself very disappointed that it's so small and basically just a fodder dinosaur to act as an early survivor struggle but then ceases to be threatening. That being said, I think we need a tame to fit that niche and I do like the JP fan service going on. The venom makes it unique and interesting among the creatures you encounter, while being a nod to an iconic franchise. I just wish there was a way we could have both versions.

傷齒龍147 Troodon147. Well you could say that, but the paper also says that feathers could have been restricted as well. Also feathers don’t fossilize well, meaning this could have been a unlucky sample. Of course you could say feathers wouldn’t have existed on adult Tyrannosaurus’s or at the very least in small amounts. It would still be acceptable to have a feathered or somewhat feathered tyrannosaurus.

As a “paleonerd” not really a expert but I love that you put effort, tusotheutis (I think I spelled that wrong) was more like a cuttlefish from what I’ve heard, and quetzalcoatlus was a pretty terrifying predator rather than the goofy ark bird, it was like a giraffe sizes stork, and storks are aggressive and eat other birds, fish and small animals as so did quetzalcoatlus. Also there is still a debate whether T. rex has feathers or not, there is a lot of good points in both sizes so for now I won’t argue for any of them. But cool to see this from you man. And Not all paleonerds are assholes, it just happens that some assholes like paleontology so they abuse the fact that a lot of people can make common mistakes.

    Couple things,
    1. Saurian's reconstructions are actually ridiculous. Quetz and the Rex look like animals losing their winter coat in prep for Spring
    2. Carnotaurus's arms were actually so stubby it lacked elbows, meaning they couldn't move or bend at all.
    3. Didn't put Meganeura/Baryonyx/Sarcosuchus/ Megaloceros on the list?

Quetzal could have probably flown, as it is basically just a bigger pteranodon with wings appropriate for flying. It may have been more of a land-based pred/scavenger, but the real paracer in the room is how it would not be able to support a platform saddle (or any fliers in ark being able to support saddles let alone people at all). Hollow bones are a key adaptation to flying, and thats one of the only reasons it could fly in the first place. it would collapse under the weight of a platform saddle.

The quetz could fly, due to its skeletal structure and how it was built. Pterosaurs also had air sacks which helped in flight. The quetz and azhrachids in general had those specific body designs because they became more advanced to be ground based pterosaurs. However flight was possible due to its design.

  • @outis9672

The Dilo should stay like it is but they could add a more accurate one as a way to even out it's rateing with it being a quick and agial tame with a decent damage maybe a bleed effect with its bites and swipes and would be a rideable tame finally. Now the category would be between a raptor and carno bigger than a raptor but smaller than the carno with decent bulk and speed it's a good middle dino a mid early tame kinda like the Barry it would be the first step to a big carnivore. Now abilitys it could have a stun attack it can roar and stun other cretures for a time and while attacking it can stack bleed now this dino would be a help to tame other bigger dinos that would give you trubble like rex or spino it could go up roar stun them and run away giveing the player enough time to shoot trank darts or arrows at them given to how it's saddle would be press once to ride, press another button to go into rideing action a action ya can toggle with a secondary button press giveing the player free range on their mount to use guns but not fully getting off it that way ya can just go in stun, run away, shoot the target, and when the timer resets go back in stun and repeat till the creture is tranked. This creture can also be a mock danger to other cretures with it looking so wieard and the scary noises it would make it can have a sentry system that by a wandering action can alert any creture to stay away that is wild while also alerting you that something is in the area trying to hunt or is a threat or just trying to pass by like a rex or para or just a compy, it could be a good tame to have in a dangerous area as a natural house defence defender and with the toggle between on guard and off guard mode it can be used to clear a area like your running through a forest but then boom a pack of raptors and 3 rexes start to chace you well no fear just switch your dilo to guard mode and boom the other cretures would run away then ya could turn it off then follow the running rex till ya have a chance to use its run in roar stun ability to try to tame it. Yes it might not seam much and is not the strongest creture in ark but for its abilitys it would be a great asset to any bace to protect it from wild cretures or to help tame them, sadly the protecting roar dosent deter tamed mounts so other players can still attack you since it's the player controlling the creature and not wild but they would get a decreased attack debuff since their wary about the dilos call, but ya when attacked just hop onto your dilo to roar stun and get away or with another powerfule mount help stun the enemy as the other mount attacks them and get a few hits in as well cause for a medium creture it can still give a nasty bite and claw swipe just the roar abilitys are it's main focus to help tame, defend, getaway, and help attack it would be a early tame but a useful one in the long run and can help players in many ways makeing it better than the old dilo and still bringing something new into the game.

I heard that Carno's horn on their head are actually too weak to attack, if they do it will probably broke
I have also heard that Trike's horns are not as hard as we thought. Some scientists gave out a test about how hard is a Trike head and horn could be. They've made a human-made Rex skin and Trike head to give out the test, let the Trike skull using 80km per hour to rush towards the Rex skin; it ended up the skin was damaged, but so do the Trike's skull, both of them damaged heavily too, which can conclude that Trike won't attack with their horns to large predators if unnecessary, they may only scare them with their horns.

quetzal can fly but it can only fly a very short distance. That’s why they never went on to the mainland since they live on an island far away from the mainland

0:45 A Tyrannosaurus in ark is nearly double the size of a regular Tyrannosaurus. A person could reach a regular rexes knee, in ark, you barely reach it’s ankle

Well not necessarily, just because of weight doesn’t mean it can’t fly, birds have a air sac or a crop if I’m correct, which dinosaurs are the ancestors which yes pteradons and quetzals aren’t dinosaurs technically, it still could’ve helped with the evolutionary line. If I’m correct.

I have a book called encyclopedia of dinosaurs and other prehistoric life and it says the dilo was 19 feet long! also couple 'o' interesting facts 1. the allo was longer than the rex 2. the velonosaur is not real 3. the therizino was a herbivore, was about as long as a rex, and much taller than a rex

You can't really answer the question to the "two-tho-tooth-us" because the only bone on a squid is it's little break, so you might be able to figure out how big it is but any other features can't be found because if I just gave you the tooth of a random animal and told you to recreate it you would probably get something much different.

the problem with the carno is the size and the pronated wrists. And the quetz weighed in at 500 kgs and could take off! Also its crest should be made out of keratin not „furr„

I don’t know why you put gigantopethics and the dilo on this list when you go listing how inaccurate they are. I’m pretty sure ark has some more accurate creatures you could have placed instead of those two. The spino for example would have been a better choice for this list.

I kind of disagree with the Dilophosaurus staying how it is. I think it would be kinda cool to have something other than Raptors (and now Deinonycus) to tame up and play around with. Dilos have always kind of been a "what's the point?" Dino to me on Ark. They are small, they don't hit hard, and they can be outrun by almost everything. A big scary Dilo that can actually kill me sounds like way more fun.

Its kinda interesting how Ark chose multiple time periods instead of one. Giga's and Trex definitely did not live in the same time period, it's believed the Trex evolved from the Giga. The Giga in Ark is also much, much larger than it actually was.

The reason why people get so mad about pronated hands, is because you’d literally have to break the dino’s wrists in order for their hands to face the direction they are facing in ark. Basically, the raptors and other dinos, are walking around with broken wrists

If you ever want to know how to pronounce Gigantopithecus, just listen to "I Wan'na be Like You" from the 2016 Jungle Book. The second half of the song features the word Gigantopithecus twice.
I would really love for there to be a TLC pass 2.5 that would update some creatures (notably the Gigantopithecus and the Carnotaurus showcased in this video) to be more like their real life counterparts. After all, who wouldn't want to ride around on a huge orangutan or a super speedy, horned sausage?

I'm still obsessing over the missed opportunities with the giganto. Blood curling screams, the extremely destructive nature of angry gorillas, imagine you piss off a giganto in game and it starts yelling, it runs at you with all its might, and when it reaches you it bashes its fists onto you
