- The Iguanodon is one of the newest dinos added into the 256 patch along with Leedsichthys, Equus, and Ichthyornis. All your dinos are being replaced by new and better dinos! The Troodon replaced the Dilo, the Baryonyx replaced the Carno, the Thylacoleo replaced the Sabertooth and now the Parasaur is being replaced by the Iguanodon! It really seems that the new dinos they are implenting in the game lately have been replacing older dinos. I heard that WildCard will be going back to balance out the older dinos, by adding unique special abilities. That is something to look forward too!

Wild
Of the many creatures I've yet encountered the island, the Iguanodon vicissitudinis has the distinctly versatile ability to change its primary method of locomotion according to its momentary needs. While bipedal, it can employ rapid stabbing attacks with its distinctive thumb spikes. In quadrupedal stance, conversely, it seems to have an endless supply of stamina, even while sprinting!
Domesticated
Interestingly, the Iguanodon's thumb spikes also provide it with the capability to pick seeds out of fruits, allowing a farmer to handily convert stacks of fruits into stacks of seed for planting. Combined with its highly effective fruit harvesting and substantial carry weight, the Iguanodon's excellent mobility in bipedal stance makes it an ideal field-hand that can also pull off a quick get-away, or an agile defense, when needed.
Known Information
Primarily a rather lethargic quadrupedal herbivore native to the island's many grasslands and forests, in situations where increased speed or maneuverability is called for, it will quickly shift its posture into bipedal stance and behave like a very different creature!

The parasaur isnt useles. You can use it as a meatshield and if someone kills it infront of your base yoll get notified that it was killed

Iguanodons are actually severely underrated. I have had soooo many of them- Thumby, Thumbelina, Hitchhiker, Thimble, Thumbtack, Thumble, Apposable.... They are really great at gathering and traveling. And they can breed, and turn berries into seeds :D

My first rideable was an Equus I tried taking it first but I kept getting knocked off then I searched an tutorial and tamed one.

I imagine Parasaurs are meant to act as early access mounts, easy to tame, easy to handle.
Iguanadon would be a higher challenge, higher reward.
Parasaur is easier to tame then Iguanodon and is thus more expendable, meaning you can get it in early game and not get attached to it, or you can feed it to the almighty troodon gods.

You attack the first one only to realize it only took spoiled meat and now you have to find the other ones who ran away, and after an hour you eventually give up and just lost 200 metal ore and all your ammo

in an official server i was in a while ago, we had a phioma. every time our base was destroyed, every time a rex showed up, every time we lost almost everything, it was there, with the attacker dead, killed by our phioma.

i had an pack of 6 Parasaurs (along with 4 rexs, 1 yuty, and 1 daedon) and manage to kill an gamma dragon or kill alpha spider! i had no idea did i over levering up while idle or from breeding?
What I use the parasaur for: To hold all my berrys after I farm them, Then use them as attack practice for my Other dinos after I unclaimed them.

I use a Parasaur as a dinosaur equivalent to a Navy Seal. My Para, who's called BoogieWoogie, and I regularly go and perform dozens of secret raids on larger, higher standard of living bases and take their eggs during the night hours. BoogieWoogie is a force to be reckoned with as he can silently take down a lvl 1 Dodo bird with relative ease as well as he regularly disables turrets and can pretty much phase through matter. We eat as kings after we do our egg raids, sometimes at night, we like to sit by the window in our little humble wooden base and listen to the sounds of frustration as people scream for their lost eggs. :)

I still use the parasuar. Its great when you go adventuring on foot so if you run into a carno or such so you can feed it your parasuar while you make an excape.
I personally love my parasaur for an all terrain fast mount fair on land and a beast in the water if you pump speed and though ive never pumped oxy im sure that would help the swim speed. i use mine for diving to the underwater caves for pearls although beaver dams seem to be a better source for pearls, unless you have a hard time finding dams.
early game it helps tame a trike and is a decent scout dino.
and really after flying around soo long its nice to just run around on a small mount. and see the world from ground level again lol

KillerDragain - I don't think you understand how dedicated servers work.
Well if you have like 20 clan members it’s a really great heard teaming cheap (easy to find) and putting all points towards health you get a very lagged/ great fighting clan
parasaur is very useful for carrying alot of items around early game. if you tame 2 parasaurs and make them follow you, you can gather alot more stuff before heading home and making space for more items
I have both cause the parasaur can scan your area for any enemies which is so good and useful
The pego scene has me busting my sides every time I see it.
I know this video is five years old so many may already know about the Maewing.
It is a newer creature to the Ark and it can be put on nursing to care for babies for you.
Just place meat or berries in its inventory, whichever the babies require, and it will nurse them for you so you do not have to.
As long as the food doesn’t run out inside the inventory, you can passively raise your baby dinos.
I have been raising an insane amount of snow owls this way.
Take the dino out while gathering wood, just clip into the tree and hit for thatch or wood with your hatchet while mounted. Works really well.
Me and my friend like the Iguanidon model so much, and they are so easy to take, that we have like 5 of them because why not
Whenever I tame a Parasaur, I use it as rather fast travel and as a pack mule. it's also what I use if I'm scouting the area for Gigas. tried moving once and literally a kilometer away was a gigs hiding in the forest.

Before the Tlc update I put a lot of health on my Parasaur and used it to tame raptors
I found a use for my old paracor... Feeding the argy I used to find the iguanadon
I use the parasaur for a meat wall around my base so if a Rex comes they're first to die or I use them for eggs and to throw as another meathsield/ distraction in raids
I use parasaurs only as a donkey, go out w/ parasaur, load it up with (literal) tons of wood, go back to base, build or repair stuff
The parasaur is now a main course at the local resteraunt in your ark server
I've had my parasaur since the beginning of my first playthrough, and it hasn't died yet, ain't no way im giving it up for an iguanodon
Parasaur has slightly better swim speed? Plus iguanadons can be kinda rare so they're a good substitute til then
It has a mode that lets you know if any predator or player/tame is near by
I use a herd of Parasaurs in the early stages of ARK to carry large amounts of weight semi-long distances such as wood from the forest to my base at the red obilisk when the forest gets cut back too much.

I remember trying to tame a level 30 rex when it went to the swamp and was killed by three dimorphodons
Now they useful for something at least thxz too the update
Well now the Parasaur has a alarm system so now it's pretty useful
Parasaurs make great companions and are useful for tribe traveling if you put weight on it
I use Paras quite often, I keep them in stalls harvest their eggs, I have an egg mod that you pop them in a nest and they hatch. I use them mostly for farming food. I find them helpful in that aspect, but other than that not so useful
That pegomastax part caught me off guard
I have that Dino but only 1 and I tamed it I have so many of other too! 2 dodos, 1 phiomia, 3 dilos, a lystro, a parasaur, and 3 moschops. I focused on the melee more that anything else so I can kill a diplodocus in 10 seconds with them all! I have a saddle for the phiomia, the iguanadon, and the parasaur!
Parasaurs have their strengths and weaknesses but once a player has enough experience with the game, then they should definitely tame the Iguanadon

Para saddle is one of the first saddles unlocked so thats where itll get ridden untill the Iguanodon saddle gets unlocked

para is good for a shield and a hang for taming and decent transportation
parasaur is just sorta that collectible dinosaur that is useless but you need it to catch em all, basically ARK's raticate (dodo being rattata)

I had a large whale in the water near my base, and I used my parasaur as a test to see if I could make it across alive with an animal on a raft. The whale attacked us and the parasaur fell off, then I knew the test had failed. It was eaten by a magalodon a few days later. Eventually the large whale left, and I tested it again using a new parasaur. It had worked great. Then I brought more Dinos across.
when I go on metal or obsidian runs if there are wild parasaurs I tame them to help ease the load and in the end I also get hide and meat🐳
I wish they kept both jumps. When they were introduced, they could jump both in run and fight mode
