- Welcome to the GTJack3d Ark survival Series. Today we will be checking out some of the most useful dinosaurs in ARK. They have added a lot into the game since it's original release so I will try and mix it up for this countdown. I will go into brief detail on these 5 and show you why they are so amazing!

My list:
#1 Quetzal: This dino is the best dino both for PvP and for PvE, it lets you tame any dino in the game with ease, lets you raid bases with ease, can be outfit to be extremely defensive or extremely offensive with the platform saddle and makes your grinding a lot more efficient. Plus many other uses, this is by far the most versatile dino in ARK.
#2 Oviraptor: These guys will increase the amount of Kibble you can make, and later on nothing becomes more important than dino levels, meaning you will want to tame everything with Kibble only. Kibble is also the best resource for trading in the game, let some schmuck go grind for many hours instead of you and all you gotta do is use a few minutes to make some Kibble for him, best deal you're gonna get in ARK. Also clears up time to do the most important thing there is in late game, selective breeding.
#3 Ankylo: In the long run what you will be grinding the most in ARK by far is metal, pump an Anky full of melee damage and use a Quetzal to fly it around, remember that it's the weight stat on the Quetz that matters, not the Anky (a lot more effective if you have a friend to control the Anky while you fly so you can grind while still in air. Remember that you can also invite a stranger to do this if you're not in a tribe, one of you own a Quetz and one own an Anky and grind together, split the metal 50/50).
#4 Dimorphodons: The best defence there is against offline-raiders. Build your base in MANY layers and put aggressive Dimos in every layer. Of course you should combine them with turrets etc. but turrets won't actually kill raiders, only slow them down. The only thing in ARK that can kill a competent offline-raider is Dimos, and dying after every single layer you break through is pretty demotivating (remember not to place them close to gates or they will die to AoE damage). A nice little trick to with Dimos is to build 1x1 houses with a window near your X-Plants (but outside of AoE damage radius) and put them on neutral, now put a passive Dodo on the X-plants and if they try to destroy the X-plant they will accidentally hit the Dodo which makes your Dimos fly and kill the player (remember that Dimos will attack the player and not the dino they are riding on). A dozen Dimos will shred through flak armour near instantly, people don't have time to react before they're doomed.
#5 Doedicurus: These guys are great at collecting stones, but what truly make them great is their ability to drain bases of turret ammo as they are almost immortal to turret fire, tank tamed dinos and also act as distractions. Drop them in the middle of a base and wait till their turrets are out of ammo, then either stand behind a tanky dino while the turrets set to only attack players try to shoot you but hit your tank instead, or pick up wild dinos with a Quetz after you've strapped them with C4 and make suicide bombers. Either way Doeds are great bang for your buck, an easy tame that can waste dozens of hours of ammo creation by your enemy in just a few minutes, it's really not fair how overpowered these little balls are.

dyndo101 That's a fault with the player not the Dimos. Spinos, unlike most dinos in ARK do AoE damage and also has increased melee range to make up for their low health pools and Spinos are going to oneshot Dimos. Also I said to use them for offline base defence, nobody is going to have a Spino inside your house as they break through layers of walls. They work like a charm to send on players with the use of a spy glass or with a scope if you want to use them for offense, but you need to know which dinos counters them.

Chiazim Levin lol I’m late too and ur right. also beaver dams have a lot of silica pearls, cementing paste, rare flowers and wood. I think the wood is the only useless thing unless you have something with reduced weight for wood
My number 1 would be the Therizinosaurus, it's a herbivore that can collect seeds, fibre, meat, berries, hide, pelt, polymer etc

Yes I wonder why it doesn't get as much recognition as it deserves. I tamed one when I was a low level and didn't even really mean to but it's carried me through everything. You can upgrade its harvesting too to get more of everything. I can gather 10,000 fiber in literally a minute, get 700 wood per tree, get 200 meat, hide, and other stuff per dead animal and it's so strong I can wipe and entire mountainside of mammoths, rhinos, rex, literally anything except a giga or titan, and they're decent swimmers too. This is all on an official server.

Yea i run my servers in PVE because I like to build some crazy stuff. I actually have been waiting to do more PVP when the game breaking glitches and bugs with it are all worked out.

best dino in the game......trilobites!!! they give you important resouces early in the game.

I remember starting the game with a lot of trilobites around... killed them, and threw away thigs like pearls because I didn't need them at that time...

Sure the bear can do everything but being a jack of all trades doesn't make you the most useful if I need a lot of berries right now I want a Bronto if I want to go get a ton of meet I want a Rex and I'll throw out a few Gigantopithecus for fiber collection so I don't have to actively do it

Surprised that you haven't listed the Quetzalcoatlus as one of the top five since you make reference to it several times during this video. In my opinion it's one of the most essential dinosaurs for the fact that it can quickly transport most of the dinos around the map, and it can carry lots of goods quickly, as well as being used for offence in attacking someone's base.
I would have put the Quetz as number 1 if this was a countdown on the BEST dinos, but its just a countdown on some useful dinos. I just wanted to show these 5 off really...

good video but its inaccurate as your not playing with official rates for example u will never get 60 angler gel 101 fish meat for killing an angler on official servers lol your should really tell people what your gather rates are so people get an idea of the offical rates

It just ruins the fun if I don't need to grind or hunt for resources.
I have one storage box for EVERY recourse like leather, oil, wood, stone, metal, angler gel etc and I would have all those full in no time. Where's the fun it that.

Ankys more gather flint then stone, and are super slow. Good to have one as a bodyguard, but I'd take the doedicurus over an Anky.
They're both practically useless in every situation except resource gathering or depending on how you upgrade them.

Good to know. I've been thinking about if it was worth it to tame a pelagornis, but now I know that it is worth it.
A lot of people write off the pela and the dunk, and at a glance the bird seems rather useless but a well trained good one can be a great animal, and thank you for highlighting the awesomeness of the dunk. Dunky is my favorite ancient fish and so many people hate on em for how slow they are, their speed isnt in their tail.. its in their bite!

Dire Bears are useful battle mounts that are easy to feed and breed, but your better off getting a rex. pick the animals you tame by what you need.
x and t-dog gaming theriz are much more useful then beavers, they get lots of wood AND fiber

for the pelagornis gathering organic polymer, comparing to the hatchet and pick axe, should have included the sword which is what you wanna use if you dont have that bird.

I would tend to agree with your list, although I would replace the Doedicurus with the Dung Beetle (ya ya... handy for those veggies for kibble or regular tame when you can't afford kibble) and the Dire Bear for the Ankylo as it gathers pretty much everything that you need (stone, obsidian, crystal, metal, berries, wood, thatch) and are pretty decent swimmers (if I remember properly, as I have boosted the speed/oxygen on mine)
