I don't think selling your products is a sign of going bankrupt. I'm not an Austrian economist but I'm pretty sure if you're selling enough to constantly be out of stock, you're doing pretty well.

Watching this in 2022 is nostalgic. My first retro AR was a Colt SP1, so when this series was launched by brownells I ordered the BRN-10 B and got serial number 00048. Eventually I sold the SP1 and purchased 2 proto 5.56 receiver kits to build my own custom rifles. The first has a 16.5” mid length barrel from CMMG for modern 5.56 ammo and the other is supposed to be a 607 clone chambered in .300 blackout, basically a 1/2 scale carbine clone of my BRN-10.

That XM16E1 clone is so awesome looking. So iconic yet simplistic in this earlier form and without a doubt THE most controversial M16 model in history. Until mid-late 1968 the XM16A1 was the predominant model and the one you see in all the photos from the most famous battles like the ones from the Battle of Khe Sahn and the Battle of la Drang, to the Tet offensive as well as the Battle of Hue. You even see it in photos from the final troop withdrawal in March 1970. That three prong flash hider and partial fence is so easy to spot in all the old photos. Will keep that XBRNM16E1 model in mind.

Out of all thousands of M16A1s I saw when I was in the army there were only a couple of them that had that M16 style stock. All the rest had the modern trap-door style M16A1 stock. That old M16 stock is wrong, and not representative of over 99.9% of all M16A1s. I bought a Brownells XBRN177E2 upper and the barrel was longer than it needed to be, well over 16" long. I decided that it was 1/2" too long, and since it's not correct anyway, just got done chopping off the end of the barrel with a hacksaw. After grinding, filing, and sanding it down, it's now 16 1/8" long and has a 6-prong flash hider. It's still not right, but it's shorter and should look okay once I cold blue it and put the rifle back together with my Dead Foot Arms Modified Cycle System (MCS) with GEN 2 Folding Adaptor so I can fire it while the stock is folded.

I'd rather have an sp1 anyway just really didn't feel like spending that kind of money which sucks because I got so excited when I heard that someone was making a retro ar and then I heard it was brownells and I knew right away it wasn't going to be cheap and I was unfortunately right but I wasn't expecting that kind of price thats just dumb hell I saw a really nice sp1 a couple of months ago for 850 I'd rather pay close to that than over 1,100 for a copy now I was super impressed with the ar10 love it looks great thought to myself yep thats the next rifle I'm getting for sure but then I saw the price NOTE: THESE RIFLES ARE NOT MADE FROM FUCKING UNOBTAINIUM its aluminum and plastic some of the cheapest materials in the world and there is absolutely no shortage of ar's or ar parts either so can someone please explain to me why in gods great fuck are these rifles so expensive because I don't get it

Didn't early army marine m16s look different with no forwrd assist and non chrome bolts which gave them a bad name.
    Basically black furniture airforce model.
