I just got my Carbon X and I absolutely love them out of the box.
You guys should come visit Santa Barbara. Home to Hoka (pronounced Ho-Kah Own-ay Own-ay) and the famous surf spot Rincon (rin-cahn).

Correct. Hoe-car = Fly in Maori along with funny-enough football/soccer. Oh-nay = Sand/Beach or Ground. So you could interpret Hoka One One to mean fly over the ground or funny enough Football (as in Soccer) Ground.

I just tested the Carbon X. They mathematically performed worse on tempo runs than Bondi! Not even close to the Nike 4 percents

I returned my pair of Carbon X as I was looking for a lot more cushion. It's an amazingly light shoe, looks great, feels great, but just didn't have enough cushion...
Maybe someday more cushioned version of Carbon X will be released...

I'm not an ultra runner. I'm not a marathoner, in fact I cannot even run 4 min pace, 5 min pace nor 6 min pace sustained...
But I love to walk, hike, climb, cycle & swim...
I've recently taken an interest & fascination in ultra running & trail, technical trail running because of my recent interest in trail shoes..
I purchased Carbon X after hearing about Hoka Carbon X Project where they had 100k & 50 mile fastest speed / time challenge...
And Jim Walmsley broke record and is currently the fastest individual to every run 50 miles... Congratulations Jim, awesome job... Jim Walmsley based on what I've read and seen is an awesome guy, great personality and has great story too ( see "Wrong Turn" on TH-cam )...
Hoka did great publicity promo at Carbon X Project by inviting some of the fastest ultra runners to race early May 2019 and had them all wear these Carbon X that anyone could buy...
The carbon x does look great in all white & the powder blue and white...
It's one of the lightest shoes I've ever owned...
Hope they come out with all black version. Black upper, midsole, outsole , laces, everything... similar to Bondi 6 black on black & Clifton 6 Black on Black...
I hope even Hoka labeling / logo will be black...
For me I think white or white & powder blue will get too dirty...
I'm new to Hoka. Never owned a pair before. First time I tried a pair, seven or eight months earlier, I didn't like rocker motion... Maybe it was something specific to the model of shoe I tried at that time because none of the Hokas I've tried since have had that extreme of a rocking motion...
Decided to try Hokas again because of massive / maximum cushion, which I thought would be good to help speed recovery from Plantar Fasciitis.

While I like all my running shoes which I've not listed here, I simply love the Mafate...
EVO Mafate are less cushion than Challenger ATR 5 and more cushion than Stinson ATR 5.
The Evo Mafate just "feel so so good" they could easily replace the Challenger ATR 5, Stinson ATR 5 & Torrent as my go to trail shoe...
I like all the Hoka shoes I've purchased with exceptions of ones I returned... ( Shoes returned were good shoes too but were either too narrow or bit stiff.
I do think Carbon X looks great but I want something that's truly functional and I'm still evaluating will I keep Carbon X.
On different note...
Normally $170; however, can get Mafate for a lot less if you search for sales. I just got mine for $129 with taxes & free shipping...
While there is no one shoe that can satisfy everyone. If you get the mafate shoe and it works for you... You're truly lucky, fortunate & privileged...
Because they are AMAZING, EXTRAORDINARY, AWESOME & PHENOMENAL...
I've been looking for a perfect aggressive Hill climbing shoe that's also great on downhills and rugged flats and these are that shoe...
This shoe is truly amazing. Never knew a trail shoe could feel so so good that has amazing, mind blowing grip, stability, perfect amount of cushioning, extremely durable, lightweight and awesome color...
Normally when a shoe has this much cushioning it's a bit wobbly & unstable and prone to twisted ankles & foot rollovers, but these shoes are very secure & stable giving one complete confidence... The only caveat would be landing incorrectly because the super mega grip on these shoes once they hit ground will not budge or move... It's like they are latched & locked on rails...
The shoe comes in one color only. I never would have chosen that color if there were other choices. However, I simply love the color and I get lots of positive comments about how great the shoes look overall, but especially the color...
I feel so lucky & fortunate to have stumbled across the Evo Mafate in my quest to find an Exceptional, Great & Phenomenal Trail shoe I could use while recovering from Plantar Fasciitis...
The Evo Mafate could easily be my one go to trail shoe as it's great on practically all terrain and conditions, wet or dry, including occasional paved roads, hard packed dirt or slick, slippery surfaces ( wood bridges, stones, boulders, fallen tree trunks, concrete walls "dams", etc... )
Only change I would make in this shoe is longer tongue with little more / better padding...

Ending up buying these as I was curious and theres no bounce in them at all. Very disappointing. Its the foam that makes shoes springy not these carbon plates. Forget comparisons with Nike as they're not even the best Hoka shoes for racing. The Napali and Hupana are a lot better and thats just the ones Ive got. They'll do for general running but I wouldn't do any race in them as there are much better shoes for every distance and cheaper too.

Are the HOKA Clifton 6's equal in sizing to the HOKA Clifton 5? I need to know if I should size up or down I fit in a 10 1/2 Clifton 5
Yeah I wear a 10.5 in most hokas, including my Clifton 6's. My foot is narrow, might be a different story if you have a wider foot.
PLease road test the Rincon....
Is it durable? All the other shoes mentioned are great, but I dont want to spend $250 for a shoe that lasts only a dozen runs.

Was able to sample them today for a run; not bad! Definitely not as springy as the 4% but the wider toebox felt really nice; I did notice the weight so not sure if I'd race in them in anything under a full.
Anybody know about sizing on the Carbon X? I wear a size 10 in my Bondi 6’s (normally a small 9,5 in sneakers), should a a go for a size 10 in these to?

You're mispronouncing it. "Hoka" is actually pronounced as "Toe-may-toe" in English. Please do your research next time.

Hola one one rincón, es un modelo parecido al Clifton 1, sale en julio 2019, prefieren el rincón por 115.00, que el carbón x por 180.00, la verdad Clifton 4,5 son modelos para correr a ritmos lentos, no son calzados para carrera , sirven para entrenar, a menos que tú no seas un jogger 180lbs., Hay que ver que trae hola rincón debajo de toda esa espuma amortiguadora, yo de verdad Clifton 4,5 entreno no siento una repuesta que sientas que es un modelo para carreras, rincón similar al Clifton 1, Clifton para jogger de 180lbs o más que quieran entrenar y sentir esa amortiguación suave , Clifton 1 buena respuesta , sirve para correr ha ritmos por debajo de 7:00 la millas, muy cómodos con mucha amortiguación increíbles para carreras 5,10,21 kilómetros !!
