What on earth was wrong with the British record buying public at the time this dancefloor classic was first released in 1984? It SHOULD have been a HUGE hit for Level 42 and went Top 5 at the very least, yet this evergreen funky track only got to a miserly No18. It beggars belief. 'Hot Water' is one of my all time favourite hits from one of the best bands on the planet.
Yes good point. It should have been huge. It was played every week on the top 40 countdown on radio 1. I fear its lack of success and the follow up The Chant has Begun which also performed poorly led directly to Something About You. Oh dear and a number of diehard fans from 1980 like myself said see ya!
My best single from them 😊😊😊
40 years on, and the musical temperature is still "boiling hot"!!
Well said 👏
You can't get more 80s than this!
That bass line is flipping wicked!! ✌️☺️
i agree proper crucial!
@@MrSilver261 It’s really tricky and all, but I still know it off by heart. ✌️😅
That's fantastic
@@MrSilver261 I love the “sons and daughters” bit, that’s the most exciting section of the bass line in my opinion. ✌️😙
One of their very best x
Level 42 had many one of their very best records
My first single of them. After this I bought all their earlyer stuff. 🙂👍

John Peel favourite but doubt he ever played it on his Radio 1 show.
The original line up level best
Tuneage
if that alembic bass was any higher mark could play it with his mouth
I think it’s in fact a JayDee bass. 👍🏼
Typical BBC, all mimed, no wonder Boon looked pissed off !
Boon's not pissed off. Just typically quiet. He is on most things, bless im.
