This song still sounds f****g excellente el presidente. And it’s 2024. Where are the young funkster/popster-grandkids ready to take jazz-funk into the mainstream. Show yourselves!
Their best song out of so many best songs. Love the change of direction in its structure. A very clever band that are at Beatles level that was my heyday. The Goulds are missed.

Méchante guitare basse de Mark King entre 4 secondes et 5 secondes et entre 38 secondes et 39 secondes. J'adore ce groupe Pop-Funk. Ca me rappelle de très très gros souvenirs quand j'écoutais LEVEL 42 (Something About You) de LEVEL 42 j'aime aussi Lessons In Love,Running In Family.
Enjoyed the video and totp's fusion, plus, adding audio. Saw this incredible band finally back in 91 at the Hammersmith apollo. Great gig but by then level was struggling. Grunge and brit pop put the final nail in the coffin for the 80's. Anyway, I've always lived in that decade so fuck flares unless it's the 60's or 70's
@@BazzerObama You are partly correct. It was filmed at a gravel pit, but it was in Norwich NOT in Essex or Suffolk. Apparently, the video director used bunsen burners near the cameras to create the illusion of a humid and exotic location to make up for tbe low budget.
The original, optimum classic 'mainstream' performance of a classic…It was one of the first singles I ever bought and I played it to death (much to my parent's chagrin!)…And 39 years later?…Yeah…compare this performance with the level of talent whenever you see what's considered 'normal' talent in 'pop music' today! 🙄
It's not easy playing bass that accurate to the beat of the track and the shorter, quicker notes and licks, having it halfway up your chest would certainly make it easier!
Phil Gould (HERE, of Level 42) is the UK equivalent of that beast of a drummer of the 1976 Alabama USA band, Artimus Pyle, the drummer in Lynryd Skynryd....... RIGHT??? :)
that white jean suit is the coolest dammned thing i have ever seen. it's 2022 and level 42 have never sounded better.
The people who clicked thumbs down have never lived it up!
They obviously can’t feel it.
💯👍👍 Correct!!! Mark King is the absolute King of Basslines!! From Ireland 🍀👍💯

I Was 11 Years Old.
Level 42 Defined My Music Interest.
R.I.P. Boon Gould (founding member and guitar player) he was only 64 (April 30ieth 2019)
Wasn't Boon's brother the groups drummer? My girlfriend and I went to their concert in 87 at Wembley it was excellent!
@@simonwillis6902 Absolutely, Phil Gould was Boon's brother, and he handled the drums...
I forgot how much I love this song.

I found a goal in life . I am going to learn to dance like that kid behind Mike Lindup .
Not a dance...it's a walkout by Re-Re-Reebok!
I thought he was having a seizure 😳
White dance moves

HE IS PERFECT!!!
Reckon those outdoor shots were the Canary Islands. They love the islands those boys. Best bass riff ever in a pop format. Classic.
Apparently they were gravel pits somewhere in Essex/Suffolk..........a low budget video courtesy of Polydor

Just love this! 💥
Iconic classic,
Thanks for the memories. Don't remember Level42 being on TopOfPops
They were on loads of times, starting with Love Games in 1981. www.tapatalk.com/groups/popscene/1981-t1147.html
You were probably out on Thursday evenings at 7:00 sniffing evo stick. Cheers
@@TheGodParticle Remember watching the music video on TOPS but not seeing the band making an appearance.
The drummer reminds me of a younger looking Peter Crouch. What do you think?.
If Barack Obama and Rob Beckett were in a group. Lol
But seriously, ......what a great tune!

lets face it, Mark's fat bassline makes this tune and most of all their others too, a true bass-god, fantastic, many thanks
Legendary.
The audience dance moves are actually good! If thats just normal people then thats pretty rare
1 of the few occasions Mike lineup do lead singer vocals while nark king did the bridge parts
Here he is Mr stiff!🤯

What's with Mark King's Clockwork Orange outfit?
I feel sorry for all the Americans who never heard of LEVEL 42
Maurice White did. He produced this track..and it shows.

Definitely David James !
Seriously is that David James!😳😳😳
Do you mean Mike Lindup?
I think I hated this at the time. But I was in denial.
Why did you hate it at the time? It's a really cool and funky track.
dommage que ça soit du play back...
Level 42 should re-release this with a slight re-wording. How about 'Levelling up' with Boris Johnson on vocals
Why does Mark King look so uptight!I am a yoga instructor and I can tell this guy needs to chill!😎
He doesn't look uptight to me.
He seems quite at ease. Perhaps your vision is slightly out, try a Tibetan eye mandala
