Snark pages are just the flipside of parasocial relationships. That level of obsession can either make you fawn over someone, or know so much it fuels your hatred of them.
I’ve only ever been aware of snark subs existing to bring awareness to people being shown on the internet that are actively HURTING people. The first one I ever was on was a Dan Schneider forum in 2010, I’ve seen the 8 Passengers sub, Shane Dawson sub, Eugenia Cooney etc. The draw to these were always “these people are harming others/children/themselves and we can clearly see it, how is this being allowed? We need to talk about it”. I had no idea these existed for the sole purpose of just talking shit?!! About people who just “annoy” them? Taylor Swift dating a football player and selling collectors editions of her albums doesn’t feel “snark” worthy to me at all 😂
So true! I also fully believe a fair amount of these deranged haters, were once fans and they felt some perceived slight or betrayal from the person they have a parasocial relationship with. As a kpop stan, I have seen it happen and I think it speaks to how love/hate are so closely related in the intense emotions and ownership people feel over a stranger.
I don't think ALL Taylor Swift criticism is misogyny (and to think so is clown behaviour) but there's certainly a lot of casual misogyny displayed from her haters who claim to be progressives themselves. It shouldn't be this hard to call out a woman without resorting to slutshaming or bodyshamimg her. People on the internet make 'jokes' about k*lling her young fans (even the ones that aren't being asshats online), constantly discuss her body, whether she has 'sex appeal' or not, fault her for having many relationships, compare her with Elon, Trump and even H*tler, reduce her whole discography to only being about her boyfriends etc and these gets TONS of likes, mind you. Idgaf about stan wars, we shouldn't abandon our morals because of some celebrities who don't know us.
the killing jokes make me sick to my stomach. people will see a picture of young girls being happy and their first thought is "they deserve to die" ???? like omg seek help
@@Unknown-b4k9d I don't think it's wrong to just state she writes songs about her boyfriends. It's the way that when people talk about a song, all they discuss is the celeb gossip and drama surrounding the relationship instead of the artistry and the emotional themes or storytelling etc. It's just a very shallow way to engage with music imo. I'm also not very eloquent but what I'm trying to say is that people use "she only writes songs about her boyfriends" as an INSULT when like a lot of pop artists write primarily about their relationships and it's never a topic of concern.
I think a lot of these Reddit users are former stans. It would explain why they know so much and are so obsessed. There’s a fine line between love and hate.
@@aila6814the vast majority of them probably are gaylors or they parasocially had her married off to Joe in their heads and lost their damn minds when those two broke up. 🤔
lots of country artists fake an accent in their music. Keith Urban is the biggest example of this. dude is Australian and sounds like he's from the deep south when he sings
I dont know why this video is in my feed. All i know is taylor swift cant sing for sht live. Most of her fans is young white women. She is indeed a strange vocalist with a cult like following that isnt about music
There are valid reasons to not like Taylor Swift, but it's hard to deny that misogyny plays a role in why many people feel so strongly about her compared to other celebs who have the same problems. Is there anyone else people are this unhinged about???
YES, thank you!! There are valid reasons to criticize Taylor Swift (her extensive use of private jets is a big one), but you can’t look me in the eye and say that misogyny ISN’T a big factor here. I really don’t see male celebrities being scrutinized and torn down the way Taylor and other female celebrities are. And unfortunately, women are often the ones leading the charge. Internalized misogyny sucks.
Dawg you should’ve seen it when it was ran by the original moderator. The original dude who started it is literally so unhinged. Got banned and now literally hate tweets every day all day about Taylor swift.
Literally! I just made a comment about this before I saw your comment. The subreddit was built on unhinged, insane energy. It’s not surprising that this sub has turned into a dumpster fire, it was literally built on it.
I think the internet would be a much happier place if people just ignored the things that made them mad instead of dedicating an entire subreddit to complain about it all day 💀
@@MegaVega2007 criticism is only valid if it addresses issues that needs fixing. there's a difference between criticizing Taylor's business conducts and literally just jumping at any opportunity to say mean things like middle school mean girls and spreading false rumors. if you've been to this sub you'd know which category they belong in.
When the sub was in its infancy and not as insane, I made a comment about how inappropriate it was to comment calling her body sickly and disgusting or saying she looked so much better when she was thinner in reference to a period in her life in which she had an eating disorder. My comment got removed and I got a warning not to participate in fan behavior or I’d be banned. Haven’t checked that sub since 😂
Got in trouble on this site for saying it’s not okay or normal to make jokes and excuses of bad behavior because Kanye once said “I have autism from my car crash”. They said I was defending Taylor… No, you swine, I was calling out your ableism you are excusing as a “joke”. Clearly you cant get autism from car crashes, but you shouldn’t perpetuate that misinformation either. Haven’t returned either.
I used to follow that subreddit too when it first began. It got too gross, and toxic. It used to actually be constructive criticism, but now it's too much hate. I don't like talking about her body or shitting on her for no reason. It used to be about her exploiting her fans for money with the many similar variants, private jet usage, consistently blocking other artists on the US and UK Billboard charts, etc. It literally is a shell of itself at this point.
Oh, definitely this. I'll watch a history video about the GD Wars of the Roses and if I scroll down far enough, there's _somebody_ comparing her to another villainized woman.
Maybe I’m biased, but using John Mayer as a reason for jealousy is gross considering he was 32 and she was 19. She made it clear in Would’ve Could’ve Should’ve she felt taken advantage of
They really stan John Mayer over there because he made some mean tweets about Taylor and thus their hero. Completely ignoring all his misogynistic behaviour over the years, to myriad of women.
@Blip0000 I actually haven't seen anyone stanning JM at all. If anything the snark sub is actually against JM and Jake. Former fans so they don't stan him at all.
A 30 year old man dating a barely legal teenage girl is literally grooming. It’s weird that nobody talks about that, Taylor Swift is a flawed person but nobody deserves to go through what he did to her
Snark subs often begin with valid criticism of the subject then inevitably descend into unhinged lunacy. On the flip side there are fandoms that are just as insufferable. D’Angelo should cover stan culture one of these days 🍵 Edit: I forgot he already touched on it in one of Chappell Roan and Timothee vids!!
I don't know why but I often get recommended snark subs for influencers I have never even heard of. But, these subs are so crazy it does make the influencer look better. If there is a snark sub I feel like there probably is very valid reasons to criticize, but even knowing that it's hard to get on board when I see a post about a woman taking a picture of herself and they are hating on her because the shoes she was wearing was worn by another influencer in the past.
just like anything formed from hatred/negativity, it becomes tame, but like a particle accelerator, the negativity in those spaces increase more and more
Gaylor Swift are unhinged 😭 like I’m pan and I like Taylor’s music and some of the songs I view through a queer lense like I Look Through People’s Window, Ivy or Cowboy Like Me… but Taylor her self is 100% straight. Yet people there thinks she’s dating Karlie Kloss because a very pixelated pic of them looked like they were kissing or something. Like please listen to actual lesbian popstars like Boygenuis or Hayley Kiyoko or MUNA or Chappell Roan or someone

I’m always baffled how no one can criticize Taylor Swift correctly Like the woman is probably the easiest low hanging fruit to critique and criticize yet every time her name leaves someone’s mouth there’s always some weird tacked on misogyny at the end about how she dates too much or isn’t pretty or can’t actually sing etc. etc. etc. Just call her a wealth hoarding billionaire people!!
yes dude, it’s so infuriating because oh my god the point is so close that i know you can taste it, but you actually don’t have morals, you just hate women!!!
It is weird how people are so fixated and judgmental on her dating life. Katy Perry has also dated in her life and written songs about them. Why does taylor get so much sh1t for doing something as normal as dating?! I’m just concerned about the private jet trips this relationship has already cost our atmosphere 🙁
@@GrungeGalacticaAnd she got and gets hate for it too, sadly. Even Stevie Nicks back in the day got hate for DARING to reference her ex. Even though he wrote a song about the relationship, too.😂
As a Taylor fan, there are valid reasons to criticize her just as there are valid reasons to criticize any celebrity. My issue is when people hold her to one standard but don’t keep the same energy for others. They’re up in arms about her jet usage but don’t say a word about other celebrities who also use private jets a ton (especially ones who use their jet more than her!). NO ONE should be a billionaire but again, they don’t have this same energy for other billionaire pop stars. Selena Gomez and Rihanna are also billionaires but it’s like Taylor is the only one they care about. And don’t get me started on the misogyny and how they would NEVER hold men to the same standard. It’s almost as if half of these people don’t actually care that much about said issues, they just don’t like Taylor and feel the need to nitpick every single thing they can find. And if Taylor is on their mind this much, then they too are in a parasocial relationship haha. Some Taylor haters are literally more obsessed with her than swifties and I suggest they look inward.
Its bcuz TS doesnt give a F about any of you,she is a manufactured pop business. She doesnt give two Fcks about the enviroment when she fly's private jets all over. Or when a fans dies at her concert. She is in the elite class and they will use and abuse the system to the detriment of society. Its sad that so many of her cult like followers cant see through it all.

@@cliffwill27 Well, they're implying that she's impossible to love. And it's only because they believe Travis may have a traumatic brain injury, that it's impossible to conceive she may be loved otherwise. Borderline ableism is exactly where I'd put that sentiment.

Glad you touched on this. Parasocial hate is real too, and not often discussed. Snark reddits very rarely stay rational, and it’s kinda obnoxious because it WOULD be nice to have outlets for that kind of discussion that didn’t devolve into “She’s clearly anorexic and he is brain damaged”
Exactly. That's the biggest flaw of snark pages. But when you bring up these valid points, they'll grasp at as many brittle straws they can in order to justify what is clearly an unhealthy obsession/hatred for that specific media personality.

That was the first place I saw on the internet that routinely vocalized the amount of racism Kayla Nicole is facing from T Swift fans for being black and having the audacity to be Travis Kelce’s ex. It makes me disappointed in D’Angelo that he can pontificate on a white woman billionaire’s experience of misogyny, when a lot of Taylor’s actions have been nothing but inaction and silence when WOC are abused on her account. Idk. There are many valid critiques.
@@Neomie92 I am black. I am on black Twitter. You say that swifties have been attacking Kayla, and I agree some of them are insane and that is out of order. I’ve also seen a lot of Kayla fans attacking and bodyshaming Taylor for months. Every other week, there is a viral tweet about Travis downgrading to Taylor. I went to Kayla’s comments after her podcast episode and almost all the comments were insulting Taylor’s body and looks in comparison to Kayla. No one seems to care about this. Why? Again, it seems that many snarkers are only interested in the things that Taylor and Taylor adjacents (Travis, swifties etc) are doing, but no interest in calling out literally anything else. This makes a lot of their criticisms (some very valid in a vacuum, some completely false and based on rumours and opinions) come off as hypocritical and obsessive.
Even the snarkers themselves don't understand why they're on that sub. 😂 Mentally healthy people who have control of their lives can easily set boundaries to avoid someone they find unpleasant. These people are the opposite.
You are allowed to compliment her. People do it all the time on the sub, you clearly don't actually spend any time there. It's okay to say nice things with nuance. I have personally defended her on that sub and been upvoted. The fan behavior rule only happened because they were being brigaded by her deranged fans constantly. The only reason they do that is because the Swifties brigade the sub constantly and derail conversation. They could do literally anything else with their time, doing a hobby, listening to their fave artists, go out for a walk, watch a TV series, ect. ect., and they do THIS?
I keep getting recommended this subreddit and because I clicked once out of curiosity. And even though I don’t want to read more I keep reading it cause my gremlin side wants to see the unhinge
Same same same. The level of insanity, especially before the mods sweep in to keep the whole thing from being banned, is sooo funny. It’s better than reading a flat-earther forum.
This summer I accompanied a friend to a Swifty event and honestly they are a little unhinged but nobody really cared that I didn't like her very much. They didn't go out of their way to make me feel welcome (why should they, they were there to meet each other) but also didn't freak out. On the other hand most T.Swift haters I've met were absolutely unhinged. Criticising basically everything from the fact that she has child fans to her lipstick, but rarely focusing on stuff that matters. I think both to be an ultra fan and a hater you have to be a little divorced from reality, but the haters are on a different level.
i’m neutral on taylor, i really like some of her songs, ‘haunted’ and some of her older albums are some of my faves, they make me so nostalgic, but as someone who is on her actual subreddit and goes there time to time - i’ve noticed that many of her fans are actually very levelheaded and are very quick to critique her when she does something a lot of people would disagree with. obviously, she has *loud* unhinged fans who think she can do no wrong (as does almost every artist) but majority of them seem super chill? i don’t really care for her personal life, i’ll never be able to find a billionaire relatable in the slightest but i greatly appreciate her bigger moves when it comes to lifting literal voting registrations by thousands solely due to her speaking out. i just cannot fathom wasting so much of your energy on a single person, i can’t justify it either and so much of this comes from misogyny and hating an artist that so many young women identify themselves with, it’s ridiculous
Preach. I wonder if part of “the decline of internet discourse” is having a new wave of such young fans - the emotional sophistication of a twelve year old is going to be different from a 22, 32, 42 year old, but everyone is all mixed in there together on these Reddit pages which came make nuanced criticism hard sometimes. But I think most people are normal and the crazies are more vocal (therefore overrepresented), and I don’t get the need to be so emotionally charged about her. When I’m liking her music she’s on my feed, when I’m paying attention to other artists she doesn’t show up as much. People really don’t get how feeding an algorithm works - rage or love is all the same when the metric only measures attention and engagement. To an extent they’re doing it to themselves
that particular post made my stomach turn because let's assume they are right, why did they not say "oh wow this woman was sexually abused by her dad" instead they went straight to " TS is a sl*t who slept with her dad".
Full disclosure, I was a member of this subreddit (no shame in being a hater), but I left after that whole debacle. Honestly kinda disappointed my comment wasn't mentioned in this video as I was the first to call it out as gross speculation lmao!

It’s not normal to hold so much hatred for a stranger that you spend time out of your day writing in forums like some unhinged creep plotting their enemies demise. I don’t like Taylor but I cannot imagine caring enough to go talk shit in a subreddit. Embarrassing 😬
Snarkers are almost ALWAYS fallen fans. Hence why they know the deep lore. Then the person does something they dont like or agree with so then feel betrayed and then get mad and wish for their downfall etc.
On the variants: you can listen to every song she's released on Spotify without buying a single album. Acoustic versions aren't always on there but they are on TH-cam. If people don't want to buy them, they don't have to.
It's the way she pre-sold the album four different times with "bonus tracks" to not only release said bonus tracks for free on release but eventually put them all on one vinyl anyway for me. That's where I'm on the side of the album being a bit of a shameless money grab.
Some people are literally addicted to hating others. It helps them feel self-righteous and like they're better than that person. Most of the time, hate is covering up feelings of jealousy, so they have to find a perceived flaw so they can tear that person down. Then they can say to themselves, "I'm the one who deserves to be successful/famous/rich, not them!" yay psychology
I agree with you, but her haters have a lot of valid points that aren’t just nitpicking. She’s a racist nepo baby that SA’ed a minor after stalking his family for months. She doesn’t deserve her success or any sort of platform.
Oh God. Literally name 3 more things that she did other than the jet things. That's literally the only point y'all bring up in the subreddit. The fact that you hate her everytime she's shown on TV (or anywhere) is clearly a mental illness that needs to be studied. Gtfo lmao
Those people can’t seem to grasp that being obsessed with hating someone and spending your energy and time doing that is often much worse and more toxic than the behaviour of the overly obsessed parasoical fan they claim to be opposed to.
Really, they're two sides of the same coin. She's an ultra-rich celebrity who doesn't know any of us exist, so it's unhealthy to identify so much with her in either direction.
“These people have broken up with Taylor swift but they’re not over her” is the most accurate description I’ve ever heard!! You don’t have to be a swiftie for very long to realise swifties are her biggest haters, just listen to But Daddy I Love Him!
For context, that’s part of a quote from Taylor Swift when she addressed her Vienna concerts being cancelled due to planned terrorism attacks (linked to ISIS or at least planned by men/boys inspired by ISIS). She didn’t post anything about it until after her next set of shows (London) were completed and her team was back in the US. There are probably a 100+ good reasons to have waited to address until after the London shows, including not wanting to inspire copy cats. She worked closely with London police and literally hired new security with anti-terrorism expertise to get through those shows. I’ll also just note a new “fun fact” I learned - the only shows she’s cancelled were for a military coupe in Thailand, Covid shutdowns, and now the planned terrorist attacks. Anyways, this snark subreddit was full of people saying TS doesn’t care about her fans and tons of super highly upvoted posts (thousands of upvotes, I think they even pinned one) about how “I work in ___ and I can tell you there is no issue with Taylor immediately posting something like ‘heartbroken for my Vienna fans.’ This is just evidence she only cares about money.” They were extremely *unhinged* about it all, and that’s why part of their sub bio is making fun of TS’s “sometimes silence is showing restraint” quote which again.. is in reference to waiting to address planned terror attacks until after another 4 concerts were safely finished.
this is valid for taylor swift but also reminds me of dudebro fandoms 😂 they also have dedicated subreddits for hating on the new star wars movies or the lotr series

I saw one comment that was mad that he says he's "talking in his room like youtube used to be" because he's actually in front of a green screen. Like buddy what do you think is behind the green screen.
I remember the earlier days on the subreddit. There were valid criticisms on her new album, overexposure, variants, jet use, etc… Now it seems like they are criticizing her over every little thing. And as you said, it’s ironic because they are acting like the people they hate (Swifties)
I agree with you on this. I stopped going to the sub as much because they criticize her for stupid shit like her having bad posture. I got upvoted for defending her posture so it's not like they don't allow people to say nice things as long as it's nuanced, but it does feel overly nitpicky at times.
I have been lurking on that subreddit for a few months, and I agree that there are some valid criticisms. Though, I think after Taylor's endorsement, that subreddit attracted a lot of toxic people which resulted in the constant bodyshaming, mocking of her open mouth and posture, and there were a lot of people got a bit too 'gleeful' with her being a possible alcoholic or doing ❄️, which is so disgusting to me. Even though she's a billionaire, addiction is still not something to joke around about. It's still so odd to think about how extreme people can be when talking about Taylor Swift, and I'm referring to both fans and haters. If I were to say "I like Taylor's music, but not her as a person," I feel like I would get hated on by both groups 😅
ugh, give me a BREAK from the stupid variants argument. Do people criticise Ariana Grande, Billie Eilish and CharliXCX for releasing even more variants than Taylor? Nope.
@noitsholly Taylor Swift has run pre-sales advertising bonus tracks to entice people and profit off their FOMO, only to release them for free at the album's release anyway. And she's done similar things after the release with demo tracks and now the entire collection is on one disc. It's not remotely the same as one album having aesthetic variations on the cover or vinyl. It's even worse when you consider that Taylor Swift is literally a billionaire who has no need to be capitalising off people like this.
this subreddit is so unhinged i made a post being like “sometimes yall (r/taylorandtravis) support bad people (like eminem and scooter braun) just because they shade taylor swift” and it got removed for being ‘pro-taylor’

The ex moderator of the subreddit is 40yrs old, his user got banned for hateful contents (?) and then moved to Twitter to continue hating on Taylor lol. He has like 600 posts about Taylor Swift. Insane.
Those snarkers are funny because they accuse her of having no self awareness, and yet that is their entire problem. They mask their obsession with her as ‘criticism’ to appear morally superior to deranged swifties, but the truth is they are the same. At least, a lot of swifties are aware that they are unhinged and parasocial. It’s also hilarious how they criticise every single aspect of Taylor’s life, but cannot accept criticism of their own odd behaviour. In a few years, a lot of them will look back on this behaviour with a lot of shame, because it really is weird.
IMO they are worse than “deranged Swifties”. At least the parasocial Swifties are exerting their energy to something they love and exude positive energy. They make art and crafts (even if most is shitty) and support local businesses. These obsessed haters do nothing but spew hate.
Yes I always said that! I had a friend about a decade ago that would buy every and all kpop album version. Korean, English, Chinese, Japanese, different color and member versions I was quite impressed how she could keep it all straight
I’m a Taylor fan but I don’t think that really excuses it. I making 2-5 album variant is fine esp since there’s international and deluxe tracks but I feel like 30 is overkill. With Taylor I only really but the album cover I like most
And people talk like she is selling millions of those ... online variants sell about 1k per variant. Litterally a drop in the ocean for her wallet and for billboard. But if you went that concert and she releases a live version of your acoustic set you might buy it. Not that deep.
9:59 idk Swift's specifics, but I'm from the South, moved out of the South a while ago, and have dropped my accent completely in my day-to-day, but it still comes out when I talk to folks who have it or when I deliberately code-switch into it. So acting like that's ~un-possible~ and ~inauthentic~ smells like bullcrap to me. Not everyone can or does, but for some folks, accent shifts based on circumstance/code-switching come very naturally.
Swift was never from the south, which is why people make fun of it. She's from West Reading PA, Berks county. Basically not at all southern even a little. I'm from the southwest and if I start talking to someone to from the deep south I start accent matching unintentionally. And sometimes I do sound a little southern just on my own. But I'm at least from a place where we say y'all! Swift never had any type of southern accent.

I'm part of this reddit community. I joined because in the beginning, it was really a sub about people being tired of the over exposure of travis and taylor in the nfl. We were all collectively annoyed by the favoritism and the butt kissing the nfl did for taylor by showing her every time the chiefs made a play. And then the sub started to get more snarky and it wasnt just about football anymore but both of them in general. The sub even changed the theme to be a snark sub. The snarkiness went past, "oh there they are again" to Taylor is disgusting, Taylor should be banned, Taylor is sabotaging other pop girls careers. It started to remind me of the one scene in mean girls where Janice and Ian caught Cady having her house party and Cady lied to Janice about not going to her art show. She tells Cady, "You're not pretending anymore. You're just like them (the mean girls) cold, shiny, hard, plastic." That sub has become nothing but bullying and frivolous and childish complaining. They've become just as obsessed in hating her. I see the same complaints they post as the same ones I had in middle school, when i was immature and stupid, making fun of another girl. Its wild.
Yeah, it was a place to talk about the obvious PR, then they decided to take an already established sub into a complete TS snark sub. "We can’t change the name - we’ve asked.". Yeah so, stop piggybacking on the original sub and make your own
Idk y’all but the person who made the sub is actually fucking crazy. After he got permanently banned from Reddit for brigading he made a Twitter and the last I checked it was NOTHING but tweets hating Taylor and insinuating he thinks Taylor and Tree stalk his online presence for….hating Taylor. So maybe y’all didn’t look too hard lol
The truly insane part is these people thinking they know _everything_ about this woman based _solely_ off of her public appearances. As a fellow person, I can say with 100% confidence that 95% of a person happens at home in private. Nobody but the people actually in her life know her, just like we don't know the strangers of our own locales just because we saw them in public somewhere doing something. Them and people like them are so out of touch.
I think hating on Taylor Swift because she’s a billionaire or a capitalist and not criticizing other musicians and actor (looking at you JayZ & Rihanna fans) is hypocritical.
As a Swiftie, the world is far more critical of Taylor for her gender and relationships than anything that actually matters. It makes it so hard for people who genuinely critique her and her massive problems. It gets overshadowed by (internalized) misogyny and downright sexism
I’m so glad you made this video because I’m a swiftie who stumbled onto this subreddit and I couldn’t tell if my bias was why I thought it was so terrible. It’s good to know that’s not it, and other people can see why it’s weird to obsess so much about someone you claim to not care about. Some stuff I read in there was just so mean for no reason. It’s like Taylor had wronged each and everyone one of those people personally. I wonder how many of them would be able to repeat what they wrote to her face or if that would make them realize just how unkind they’re being.

Pretty much with you on that. It must be a very miserable existence. I think I was on Reddit for maybe a few months, and then literally mid-argument with someone over CEOs being out-of-touch with working people one day, I thought "what am I even doing" and just deleted the app.
It's super fun, I can't recommend it enough. Ofc, I don't really actively hate taylor swift, she has no impact on my life (other than hearing her on the radio), but seeing people justifiably criticize someone is fun. Which is why videos like this one and others of D'Angelo's or other commentary youtubers also get a lot of traction, viewing crazy ppl and picking apart their behavior is a great source of entertainment. Highly recommend the sub 👍
@@404usernotfound_ I just don’t see the appeal in actively seeking out content about someone you hate, even if the criticism is justifiable. I don’t like Taylor at all. But it’s crazy on that sub…I made a post that advocated not commenting on her body, and I got shredded and the post was taken down 20 minutes later. I now feel shame about being on that subreddit at all. I really wish I had a neutral place to express my frustrations about billionaires, including Taylor, Elon, Zuckerberg…I have even had issues with Rihanna, and I still love her music. I feel like I can’t express my frustrations anywhere. 😮💨
Also, I used to be grumpy as a native Tennessean that she started with country even though she was from PA-and then I went to PA and realized how huge the country/folk influence is there. And then I was like, “oh. Actually, makes sense.”
The most annoying thing about the criticism Taylor gets is that people only hold HER to this criticism. Never seen ANYONE complain about anyone who emits MORE than her.
“Wine moms, vipers, and judgmental creeps” are in the lyrics to a Taylor Swift song on ttpd, kind of a deeper cut too. For people that hate her they sure do know her songs well
I actually discovered it a few weeks ago and I was baffled like the level of obsession with a person could not be by a sane individual. I'm convinced those people are the ones who have a little sanctuary with her pictures and "I hate taylor swift" written all over it in red lol On a serious note, she does have people's extreme obsession to her through out her career, they just got braver because its not unhinged to hate on her anymore.
I saw one of this snark posts comparing Travis to Chris watts while going through it and it genuinely freaked me out so bad, the snark pages I had joined about celebrities I did not favor i quickly got out of!!
No one is above criticism. But you can’t tell me that Taylor doesn’t get criticized for things that people have no problems with others doing. She is not the only celebrity who flies private😂 where is the energy for Beyoncé, Celine Dion, Spielberg, Travis Scott, all the kardashians, etc. you only ever hear about Taylor. I saw some people blaming Taylor for the hurricanes in Florida. People have truly lost the plot when it comes to Taylor. Freaking John travotla owns like 7 planes and built an airport at his house, I guarantee he produces more emissions than Taylor but he’s not popular enough for people to track his every more rather creepily. And the variant discourse is wild too. So many singers do the exact same thing. Taylor is just the most successful because she has the biggest fan base. It’s an industry wide thing, so why are we only blaming Taylor? Why is it okay for Billie to sell the same album just splashed with paint on the cover or Kanye to make a bunch of variants m, or Sabrina carpenter and Travis Scott to battle for the top spot on the billboard charts but Taylor can’t do the same. Charlie xcx has many remixes out. I agree that billboard should change their rules but until they do everyone is going to keep taking advantage of it. Idk it’s like people expect Taylor to solve all the world’s problems but she’s one person. Also why is being a billionaire something people have such an issue with now? Most of that is an estimation of her music catalog which she is never going to sell (hello re-recording her music). She doesn’t just have a billion dollars in her bank account. And all celebs are rich af. I just find these arbitrary points people make weird. No one cares about jayz being a billionaire, but Taylor is Satan. And yes, Taylor is not perfect. She is a human who is going to mess up sometimes because she’s human just like everyone else. But so much of the criticism she gets no one cares about when anyone else does it so it does just seem really hollow and like sour grapes that she is successful because she works hard and has a huge fan base.
Because Taylor's album variants are not about having a different record cover or vinyl colour. She ran limited pre-orders on four variants all containing one different bonus track each, then released those "bonus" tracks onto streaming 2 hours after release anyway, then did the same again with demo tracks, and is now putting all of it onto one album and selling that separately. She literally capitalised off people's FOMO to make as much money as possible off the album, which I think is sleazy coming from literally the richest woman in music in the world who had absolutely no need to run it like that.
@@user-mv5zt8qd9l truly confused by this comment and don’t think you know what you’re talking about. Olivia Rodrigo put different bonus tracks on each of her vinyl variants and no one cared. And that’s just off the top of my head, I’m sure there’s more examples. Taylor never released any of bonus track variants to streaming, they were available on her store only and some fans uploaded them to social media but Taylor herself never did. And the anthology (which I assume is the album you are talking about) has been available on streaming this entire time, since the day ttpd came out. Fans have been asking her to release it on vinyl/cd instead of just streaming lmfao. There’s no tracks that were released for variant purposes though, all of the tracks have been available since April. Anything related to Taylor has truly just become so convoluted by social media hyperbole that people don’t seem to know the truth anymore regarding her releases.
like i get what you mean i dont really like taylors stupid variant obsession but every one she released both physically and digitally had a completely different cover image and color
They don’t hate her for being a billionaire/private jet usage etc. They hate her because of their own obsession and fit those reasons in retroactively. That’s why they don’t call out other celebrities for the same things. They don’t actually care about the causes, they just hate her

I'm also a Taylor fan and I agree with you 100% 🫶

Or when a fans dies at her concert. She is in the elite class and they will use and abuse the system to the detriment of society. Her working with a rapist for the movie Amsterdam at the peak of her career in a post metoo world is also a valid criticism.
@@angelsunemtoledocabllero5801 Had to look this up because I had never heard about the director’s allegations but that’s fair! @@cliffwill27 Well, they're implying that she's impossible to love. And it's only because they believe Travis may have a traumatic brain injury, that it's impossible to conceive she may be loved otherwise. Borderline ableism is exactly where I'd put that sentiment.
@@laienmalowa4371 yeah that’s a wild thing to imply but I still think ableism is a slight stretch. Like if they were saying Travis was less than for his CTE I think that would be ableism right? Treating someone as less than because of their disability?
Glad you touched on this. Parasocial hate is real too, and not often discussed. Snark reddits very rarely stay rational, and it’s kinda obnoxious because it WOULD be nice to have outlets for that kind of discussion that didn’t devolve into “She’s clearly anorexic and he is brain damaged”
Exactly. That's the biggest flaw of snark pages. But when you bring up these valid points, they'll grasp at as many brittle straws they can in order to justify what is clearly an unhealthy obsession/hatred for that specific media personality.

Yes! Thank you. Not all of us are delusional. I've noticed it's mostly the newer and younger fans that are the unhinged one's.
Please tell me you reported this page!! It’s absolutely awful.
Some people are literally addicted to hating others. It helps them feel self-righteous and like they're better than that person. Then they can say to themselves, "I'm the one who deserves to be successful/famous/rich, not them!" yay psychology
Exactly.
Most of the time.
I agree with you, but her haters have a lot of valid points that aren’t just nitpicking. She’s a racist nepo baby that SA’ed a minor after stalking his family for months. She doesn’t deserve her success or any sort of platform.
Or some people are just tired of an unethical billionaire being celebrated when she is no better than Jeff Bezos. Hope that helps.

"Silence is actually showing restraint" *creates an entire snark subreddit* 🤔
They were mocking her with this comment, it’s a direct TS quote lol

Now it seems like they are criticizing her over every little thing.
@@kyrus4989 How did you defend her posture? Trying to unpack some issues I have 😅
this subreddit is so unhinged i made a post being like “sometimes yall (r/taylorandtravis) support bad people (like eminem and scooter braun) just because they shade taylor swift” and it got removed for being ‘pro-taylor’
Maybe also because eminem isn't a bad person?
What’d eminem do?

They’re all in the subreddit trying to spin this into a positive and pretend like they don’t have a unhealthy obsession with a celebrity.
I think her cult followers are way more obessesd. I dont get why ppl.are so obssesd with this women. She cant even sing live,it sounds like sht!t
That subreddit is big mad after this video lmao
Who cares if they are big mad they deserve to get called out!!!
I refuse to think anyone in that subreddit is over the age of 25. That's some crazy shit.
I once checked out that sub out of curiosity and one of the members had 30 yrs old in their bio. I can't imagine someone my age being that invested in a celebrity. I don't even like Taylor Swift as a person or an artist, but I don't dedicate that much mental space to people I hate. 😂
The multiple album thing, k-pop has been doing that for years.
@@captainayaaya28Now, though, it’s probably not that expensive to do the variants-probably done all at the same time.
@@SaraFGgon lol
@@turdleyurtleShe lived in Nashville from the age of 14. She may not have been born there but to say she has never been from there in any way just isn’t true. She spent her formative years there and yes, you pick up the accents of people around you.

@@songs4polarbear "Obvious PR" ?????? are you hearing yourself?
The truly insane part is these people thinking they know _everything_ about this woman based _solely_ off of her public appearances. As a fellow person, I can say with 100% confidence that 95% of a person happens at home in private. Nobody but the people actually in her life know her, just like we don't know the strangers of our own locales just because we saw them in public somewhere doing something. Them and people like them are so out of touch.
15:40 God forbid a woman BLINKS
I think hating on Taylor Swift because she’s a billionaire or a capitalist and not criticizing other musicians and actor (looking at you JayZ & Rihanna fans) is hypocritical.
Say to the people at the backkkk!!!!
Agreed

Reddit keeps pushing this subreddit to me and it makes me rethink every choice I’ve ever made if this is the vibes I give

As a Swiftie, the world is far more critical of Taylor for her gender and relationships than anything that actually matters. It makes it so hard for people who genuinely critique her and her massive problems. It gets overshadowed by (internalized) misogyny and downright sexism
These god damn judgemental creeps sanctimoniously performing soliloquies Taylor will never see aah

The “CTE” thing is so ableist, I’m kind of shocked by how blatant it is.
I’ll never understand why people would WANT to join a space dedicated to hating something.
Like, if I hate this thing, why would I want to be reminded that it exists and I hate it and it makes me mad every time some content comes across my screen?
Like, I totally understand appreciating valid criticisms, but it’s the active subscription to it that I just can’t really grasp.
For instance, I think Andrew Tate is a flaming douchewaffle, and there’s an infinite list of valid criticisms against him, but I don’t really want my feed getting bogged down with people talking shit on him, either, ya know? Then I’m just constantly reminded, “hey, he exists, he does stupid shit, and enough people like the stupid shit he does that he’s a public figure surrounded by discourse”.
To me, it coming up organically is enough. It just seems counterproductive to being happy.

Actually, makes sense.”
this whole obsession just smells like ex taylor swift fans who had a parasocial relationship with her
They still have a parasocial obsession with her 😂
The most annoying thing about the criticism Taylor gets is that people only hold HER to this criticism. Never seen ANYONE complain about anyone who emits MORE than her.
bro he uploads these so quick. in the beginning of the video, it talks about the tour book she announced TODAY 😭😭😭
“Wine moms, vipers, and judgmental creeps” are in the lyrics to a Taylor Swift song on ttpd, kind of a deeper cut too. For people that hate her they sure do know her songs well
most of the people in that sub are former swift fans, hence why they know that
@@tori_the_rat except isn't this a lyric to one of her newer songs?? 😭😭 so they still listen to her despite hating her
I actually discovered it a few weeks ago and I was baffled like the level of obsession with a person could not be by a sane individual. I'm convinced those people are the ones who have a little sanctuary with her pictures and "I hate taylor swift" written all over it in red lol On a serious note, she does have people's extreme obsession to her through out her career, they just got braver because its not unhinged to hate on her anymore.
They’re over there having a meltdown abt this video. Doing their best Billy badass impersonations
@@user-mv5zt8qd9l but they do also have different record colors
like i get what you mean i dont really like taylors stupid variant obsession but every one she released both physically and digitally had a completely different cover image and color
They don’t hate her for being a billionaire/private jet usage etc. They hate her because of their own obsession and fit those reasons in retroactively. That’s why they don’t call out other celebrities for the same things. They don’t actually care about the causes, they just hate her
Billionaires and private jet users all suck, no matter what their names are. They hoard money when there are homeless and poor people.
i found myself on this subreddit once and was genuinely appalled at how hateful people were being
