I've been spraying weeds and insect and disease for 10 years, the last 2 years ive been fully on my own was working 3 jobs before than My full time job my weed control pest business and my party rental company, At the end of last year I got my structure license so I can start spraying for pest, I'm excited to start this new journey have been really learning alot and testing different type of chemicals. but all this work and knowledge I have gained over the last few years is really starting to pay off.
I work pest control to everything he’s saying is pretty much true. It’s a super laid back job our company pays 27percent for what we work and goes up from there just make sure you do you’re job and keep your customers happy.
27? I'm looking into getting into pest control (zero experience with it or even sales) and am interviewing with 5 different companies right now. One place was 10 for service and another 10 if you sold that service the same day, and another place was 15/15 but I wouldn't be making anything off reservice or customer no-pays. Is that a part of your 27 you mentioned or am I getting jipped? I have zero experience so I might be getting a lower rate
@@AlexF-eh8yz yes we don’t make anything on reservices but our company doesn’t charge anything for a reservice. And from my understanding the company I work for has one of the highest percentages. 10 and 15 seem a little low tho but that may just be what those company’s pay. We still make our commission if a customer doesn’t pay but after 2 months of no pay from the customer and we go service them for the 3rd month then we don’t get paid.
@@krisshirley7508 Interesting. Thank you for getting back to me. The 10/10 place basically guaranteed that every bit of work I did would get paid to me. The 15/15 place didn't have that guarantee and also expected me to collect on customers that weren't paying (before 90 days). I don't mind sales but I don't want to be door-to-door and I also don't want to pressure people to pay on behalf of a company. What part of the country are you and how long have you been doing it?
@@AlexF-eh8yz I’m in the lower southern states and been doing it for 6 months, we have to collect on our customers if they haven’t paid in 90 days but also the lady’s in the front office are calling them and trying to collect payments. Don’t feel pressured by collecting a payment, just let me know that the bill was behind and you want be able to perform any more services for them until they pay. The whole not getting paid thing if a customer doesn’t pay seems like a bummer because to be honest it seems like that happens a lot most customers wait 2-3 months before they decide to pay anyways. And to be honest 10-15 percent seems a little low compared to the average. Unless there smaller company’s mom and pap style I’d be expecting closer to 18-20 at least unless those are just starting percentages. At our company everyone starts at 27 and gets like half a percent a year raise and after 5 years it stops at 30.
@@krisshirley7508 What are the rates for services for you guys? The 10% place charged $110 for the most basic quarterly, I think the 15% place was a little cheaper and did free inspections. Thanks again. I am talking to quite a few companies right now so all the info is very helpful.

It’s possible. But the key is to wash your work clothes at the end of every day, separately from all other laundry (ie, don’t wash the work clothes with the normal clothes) and if it’s a disposable PPE, you’re likely to incinerate that 😅
I’ve been thinking about applying for around my area to be a technician I’m very interested. Be cool if I could reach out to you and talk more about the job you seem very smart in it!

@@User_92020 that’s horrible man. I live in southwest Louisiana, I do a commercial route. I’m making the equivalent to about $30 an hour 40 hours a week. Not trying to flex at all. So about $2000 every two weeks after taxes. $14 is absolutely horrible. You should be getting 20% minimum on each stop.
For a residential route no. All they do is spray around the foundation, remove webs and inspect rodent boxes if they have any on the property. For a commercial route it’s very unlikely unless you’re doing bird work or they have rodent boxes to check. New technicians will most likely start off running a residential route. It’s a good job but if you’re running a residential route during the hot summer it can get pretty brutal wearing all that gear and respirator in 90+ degree weather.

I'll be going through the process to be a pest control tech tomorrow so I'll give them my D.l from there the livescan and I wanna know what do they look for in the livescan to possibly disqualify you? How is the state test?

Sounds like a super easy day, I’ve been blessed to work for one of the “big” companies that has the customer expecting more, and getting it 😉 the demand of work is insane… I’m averaging 15-20 stops a day, apartments take about 4 hours to complete… I work anywhere from 55-65 hours a week… and no matter what, ITS NOT GOOD ENOUGH!! Do you only get paid the 20% off of each job or do you have an hourly wage too? Also the truck do you get from the company and do you take it home with you so you can start your day right from home?
Typically you make between 10-20% commission, you are provided a company vehicle (some companies let you take it home), and gas and maintenance is paid for by the company. Hourly wages are usually just for special jobs or if you’re doing training/helping another employee on a job.

Thanks just getting into the work and appreciate the heads up
Just got hire for this job. Luckily I saw your videos before the interview. Went through a screen process, two interviews. Now they want me study, take California test and then I'm good to go. I'm very excited and nervous too. Is the exam difficult? They told me that most people fail the first time, but have to wait a month after to retake. Any advice? Please and thank you.
By the way I'm turning 43 this year. Finally getting away from restaurant industry. Working late nights, weekends and holidays, and no benefits, no health insurance. Being doing for 22 years. Once I pass my exam, I think this is retirement job for me.

Hey I know this is weird but I have an interview Friday. Can you explain the difference to me my ig is ( HIM.SELFIE )
I’m 24 and just got hired today. I start my first day on Friday. My pay will be $6 per house no hourly pay. I’m not sure if this will be enough I was making a lot more money at my other job
Have a job interview tomorrow, really interested!
paperwork? havnt had to touch pens or paper in ages at the pest control place i work.
Same here, we do it all through our phones, it just sucks when you have a stop In a data dead zone but other than that it's easy and I enjoy my job, been going 2 months now.

My concern/fear is if you ever leave with pests on you or your belongings after finishing a job?
It’s possible. But the key is to wash your work clothes at the end of every day, separately from all other laundry (ie, don’t wash the work clothes with the normal clothes) and if it’s a disposable PPE, you’re likely to incinerate that 😅

I’m thinking about applying for a position at a local pest control company. I’m marrying my fiancé in October and trying to find a good job that could lead to a good career. Do you think in the long run there is good growth opportunities? Also, do you work in tight spaces a lot or high up places? I’m afraid of both lol.
I need to know as well please
Mostly tight spaces in crawl spaces and attics
I thought about taking some classes and getting a license and starting my own business.
what chemicals do you use?
What are the long-term health risks for working with pesticides?
Does this job ever get complex or is it laid back mostly ? Also how was the training like ?
How many people usually give you a tip.. rough estimate?
Love your content. Do you do consultations?
When I first started this industry I hated it just because the company I work for really has no limits on where we will and won’t go, we go literally anywhere, especially the route I had that day ( it was my first day alone ) and all my stops were in rural country areas with no actual address also mind you there was no signs either, I was lost for 2 hours with no phone service, needless to say i thought I would hate my job but as I’ve gotten use to the route(s) it’s honestly one of the chilliest jobs ever hours kind of suck tho
Im 18, a senior in highschool, got an interview at mosquito joe as a part time technician. im a little nervous what should i expect my first day? or what is training like?
how is it
Nice I wanna apply for sure after seeing this video sounds fun and not to bad actrully

Hey man I'm enjoying your videos. It seems like this is a pretty cool job. I have an interview tomorrow with terminix for a termite tech spot. Just curious, do you make a base pay on top of the jobs or just 20% on each job?

My city minimum wage is $14 an hour, what is a fair pay rate for this type of job?
@@User_92020 that’s horrible man. I live in southwest Louisiana, I do a commercial route. I’m making the equivalent to about $30 an hour 40 hours a week. Not trying to flex at all. So about $2000 every two weeks after taxes. $14 is absolutely horrible. You should be getting 20% minimum on each stop.
@@User_92020 ok just re read your comment. 20% commission on each stop is fair. Some pay 25%.
How long is the training for this job
Depends on the company but not long at all. Month or two.
Main thing is passing the test

When you guys spray for fleas how long do you require the house to be empty for?
So do you get paid hourly as well ?
Do you have to carry a backpack or other equipment?
Do you ever go onto customers rooftop?
For a residential route no. All they do is spray around the foundation, remove webs and inspect rodent boxes if they have any on the property. For a commercial route it’s very unlikely unless you’re doing bird work or they have rodent boxes to check. New technicians will most likely start off running a residential route. It’s a good job but if you’re running a residential route during the hot summer it can get pretty brutal wearing all that gear and respirator in 90+ degree weather.
No, I'm scared of heights 😅

Hi Chris !!! How are you .. I am also a pest control technician in UAE... from Orkin UAE.
Oh ya
So you get paid by each appointment? Or hourly regular pay?
?...
Is the test hard and do you get to take the work truck home ?
Technician test is easy if you read the handbook, operators test not really hard if you know what to study and you read the questions very well because they will throw you some curve balls in the way the questions are worded
Lol maybe I should switch to a mom n pop pest company lol
Btw, when I say blessed I’m totally being sarcastic lol 😂
Working that many hours and it’s still not enough is extremely unnecessary.
4 hours at an apartment? What are you doing that takes that long?
Yeah it's tough to get into just the right company. too big and they're trying to squeeze you for everything you're worth. Too small and you're not paid what you're worth.
Im sure he means arriving at an apartment complex and treating many different apartments for various issues.
What city you from and how much an hour is a good pay rate?
How much do you make in a year doing this
What were the qualifications you needed to become a Pest Control Technician? And how did you get them?
Most companies train you and will pay for you to get your licenses after you’re already hired. I just got hired as a tech with zero experience

@Stefan I’m about to have my interview tmr and I’m just worried that the pay might not be good. I wanna see if I can make a career out of this. What do you think ?
@Stefan appreciate you for all the kind words and the motivation! Do you think there’d be a difference or any difficult as a women entering/training for a PC tech? The company I applied to is Orkin and they’re offering full training for the job. So I’m kinda excited
@Stefan you’re a legend! I will definitely keep all this in mind. I’m a bit afraid of bugs but hoped that’ll go away once I start! :)
The driving at work isn’t like driving in your free time. You’ll be thinking of everything you need to do at your next stop and of your route. It’s not like driving and just looking out the window
Sounds awesome!!!!!
Is the vehicle yours or owned by the company?
I'm thinking of doing this. Do you use your vehicle with these companies or does the company provide a vehicle to drive around?
At least in my area, all of the companies provide a vehicle and equipment
Do you still work there? I am in the hiring process right now and need advice. Also is it hourly ?
Do you only get paid the 20% off of each job or do you have an hourly wage too? Also the truck do you get from the company and do you take it home with you so you can start your day right from home?
Depends on the company, but I think most companies just pay an hourly wage and most companies allow you to take truck home
Typically you make between 10-20% commission, you are provided a company vehicle (some companies let you take it home), and gas and maintenance is paid for by the company. Hourly wages are usually just for special jobs or if you’re doing training/helping another employee on a job.
Mine was percentage of the monthly account totals averaging 12 to 15 thousand dollars worth of accounts
Do you need to drive a truck for this work ?
I was planning on applying but not enough money I get paid minimum wage being a delivery driver
