    How often do you change the oil on your motorcycle? Let us know what kind of motorcycle you have when you answer.

      I'm in Cambodia, so it gets pretty hot here. Every 2,500km with Motul 7100 10W50 synthetic. My bike is a Dominar 400, which is made on the same line as the KTM Duke 390. Both bikes share about 75% of the same parts, except the Dominar is styled as more of a tourer. I have a set of SHAD SH23 panniers and tail bag - both of which work out very well for extended trips or shopping. 125cc scooters are the norm here, so 400cc's makes my bike something of a beast. 😄

    Thanks for the heads-up. My Dominar 400 has virtually the identical KTM 390 engine. The Dominar's shop manual only recommends CLEANING the oil and evacuation stainers, rather than replacing them. Since I've already put 10,000 miles (16,000km) on the bike, I'm definitely going to order a set of replacements. Thanks again.

    @RemboUSMC , have you found a diagnostic tool for this bike yet? To clear the service light, read and clear faults, and see data on the bike. Thanks

    I’m looking at getting one. 2022 as my first bike. I work on cars regularly so I’m not worried about being able to do the work by myself, but from an owner, is the maintenance a lot to keep up with? I’m in college so I plan on doing the work almost all by myself to save some money

    • @RemboUSMC
      @RemboUSMC  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Basically, you’re going to be adjusting your chain, changing brakes and tires along with oil changes and that’s it

    • @holdenc2636
      @holdenc2636 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@RemboUSMC so just the basic motorcycle stuff. My friend rides and he’s told me about chain lubing etc. what I was more concerned about was major maintenance such as a valve check or something of the sorts

    Greatly helpful. Will be doing this tomorrow. Good steady camera work, clear, concise, no BS....like a Marine! Siempre Fidelis! 😊 👍. I have this same bike. RC390 forums talk about how much gunk collects in the filter and screens and recommend frequent changes! Leave it to Austro/Indian designers to use multiple drain plugs and screens but I guess the design requires it like an old Enfeild 500Bullet. New Kawasaki oil still looks new after 600 miles! If you know how to switch the TFT display from KPH to MPH, please inform me, freaks me out to look at the speedo and see 100+. I am Subscribed, Sir!

    DO NOT PRY ON YOUR ALUMINUM CASE WITH A STEEL SCREWDRIVER. It is a sealing surface that you're prying on and you can/will wreck your stuff.
    Use a magnet to get the filter out. I have a magnetic light I use. Stick it to the filter and pull.
    The $50 you pay for a torgue wrench is cheaper than any single part you will wreck without it.
    Steel screws to steel blocks you can guess the torques. Steel screws to aluminum blocks you can not, someone inexperienced will strip the entire bike. It has cheaper screws that aren't helping either.
    P.S. I own a Duke and an RC and am a professional mechanic although not for motorcycles.
    Still a great video.

    The little screen thats under the exhaust seems completely impossible to get to. The socket wont even fit between the head and the exhaust. How did yours fit so easily in the video??theres literally not enough room on my bike.

      I had no issue, you can clearly see it in my video

    • @misterprofessionality
      @misterprofessionality ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@RemboUSMC thats why its so bizarre. Its like my exhaust is closer to the bike than yours. Wven the shot from under the bike when i recreate that angle with my phone the pipe is clearly in front of the head rather than just to the side of it as in your video. I wven tried just getting the socket onto it with no wrench and the space between the head of the drain bolt and the exhaust is shorter than the socket itself. I cant figure out what im supposed to do here. I just left the screen in for now.

    Nice and clear explanation👌
    Which Engine Oil you recommend for KTM Duke 390 apart from Motorex bcoz it isn't available in our country and which one you pick Amsoil Metric 15w50, Motul 300V or 7100 or Putoline Ester Tech 15w50...Thanks😊

    • @RemboUSMC
      @RemboUSMC  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Unfortunately, because I purchased the regular oil that they recommend, I don’t have a recommendation for something else. It’s hard to believe that they sell those bikes in your country but they don’t have the oil that they recommend. That is a shame. I think that as long as you match the oil specs, it shouldn’t matter what brand.

    Have a 2023. KTM no longer gives you a manual, only a scanable code to download. Don't have a printer and reading my phone w/ a magnifying glass is not optimum. HOW DO YOU CHANGE FROM KLM TO MILES? Would be very helpful. In 1000klm have not found out... well kept secret???

      I thought that’s how the oil level should look at operating temp, at least that’s what the manual said.. that it should be between the min. & max line when checked at “operating temperature” (after letting the bike sit for one minute). This seems like it was checked below operating temp. What a bitch

  • @davskok

    so somehow my RC started to leak oil through one of the screw holes as I removed the plastic chain guard… I put the screws back in, not the chain guard, started the bike and it was still leaking… so I guess the chain guard somehow holds the whole engine together… what an engineering… so beware guys I was just about to clean the chain
