Yam, you have convinced me that I want a smaller bike. I’ve owned 4 600 sport bikes, including my current RS660 which I bought last year after selling my zx6r. Now that I’ve actually become a decent rider and can push the bike more in the corners, I realize how little I’m touching my aprilia’s potential, and how much better I could be on a small bike. Alas, I’m not made of money. But someday I want a little bike to thrash around! The RS feels slow on the highway, but wicked fast in the canyons (she is NOT stock). I may have dreamed of liter bikes in the past, but I don’t think I’ll ever own one… well, maybe when I’m old and have money for track days and tires 😅
any 400cc fast sports bike is a elite bike in india...its actually cool...its more then enough power for me who live in Ooty cold beautiful mountains...so alot of twists and turns...390 is enough...like you can't even use the full power of a 155cc sports bike cause i ain't got no that much road for me...all curves and bends and corners...so yeah...390 is like a super bike
Here in South Africa, people are riding mostly the larger cc bikes BMW GS1250 for example or 650 sized bikes. I just bought a versys x-300 which is childs-play but such a fun bike. My other bikes are all 650 sized.
The problem I see here is the 35kw A2 limit. The whole EU market is lost for bikes with slightly higher power output. Sure they can sell 35kw versions but that's like shooting into your own leg.
Even if KTM release a updated RC390 to a RC450 with the engine in the CFMOTO 450SS. I'd still take a Ninja 400 if I was a beginner getting my 1st bike. Also with the release of the 2024 Ninja 500 there will definitely be deals on unsold 2023 Ninja 400s. Albeit those deals may only be a few hundred dollars, it's still saving you a little. It's still the GOAT of beginner bikes.
The Cfmoto or a KTM equivalent 450 is a better bike. But it's the known reliability, brand and dealer network as well as resale values that keep people buying the ninja. It's still not the best bike though. But any new rider would be happy with either. I think it's more about which of these fits you the best rather than the performance
idk why honda didn't bring CBR 250rr to other region as 300rr and replace the current CBR 300r since it's pretty popular in SEA market. the CBR 250rr uses Paralel Twin engine and make around 40HP which probably can be a bit competitive to rc390 and Ninja 400
RC390 likely won't be replaced anytime soon. Here's why: Focus on new riders: KTM targets beginner riders who want a sporty motorcycle to learn on. This niche market ensures a steady stream of interested buyers, even if it doesn't compete with bigger bikes. New generation of riders, there will always be young people who are new to motorcycles and to the RC390's sporty look and feel. So, even if it doesn't appeal to experienced riders, the RC390 caters to a specific group that will keep it relevant for a long time.
If you want to buy vehicles above 300 se 400 cc spiet bike then everyone prefers to buy KTM.If there were service centers in the capital of every state of India or in a big city of the state, then everyone could take it, it is quite affordable.Yes, if you have less money then you can buy second hand.

Screw the RS457. It’ll prob be great as a used bike a few years from now, but there’s no way I’d buy one new. It’s neutered in stock form, and you have to spend more money and jeopardize your warranty to uncork the ECU.
Good video. But.. two elephants in the room, imho need to be mentioned: aprilia 457 and kawasaki zx4. First lighter version of rs660, second - speed devil with inline 4. 400-500 cc rookie sportbikes niche is too saturated with the offer. And some rumors about cfmoto sr500…. I think only right thing, what can do orange - put new motor (399cc) in rc390.
I'm very disappointed It was supposed to be a 4 stroke version of the rgv 250 It's overweight and underpowered 50+ hp and sub 350 lb READY TO RIDE weight is the benchmark
Prototypes of a RC990 have been spotted testing 3 or 4 times in the past 2 years with the first time being January 2022, only days after they started testing the now released Duke 990, and the latest one being in late July this year. So with that we might see a 2024 release although obviously nothing has been confirmed yet, all we have is spy shots from a couple different road tests but it's looking like a really nice bike with lots of visual inspiration from the RC8C. It will likely share a lot with the Duke so it won't be a full on supersport in terms of ergonomics but it should still make a really fun bike
the RC390's biggest problem is the gearing. the 6th gear is useless. If the rev drops below 6k RMP at any speed, it will take a long time for it to come back up. This makes it almost unusable on highways. Imagine you have to down shift with every bit of application of brakes. I don't have to imagine cause I have one. And the stock brake is shit. and the size it chose makes it very hard to find an after market replacement for the caliper. Although I managed to find one form Taiwan. Other than that, all good.
Maybe is time to upgrade to the Ninja 500, from what i've heard it's got great torque, good on the highway. The RC390 was one of my favorite small bikes for a while until the Ninja 500 came out, 51 hp and 31.7. ft. lbs. torque

Kawasaki, CFmoto/probably KTM , and Aprillia are making 450 light weight bikes therefore the most lightweight classes will most likely adjust to a 450cc limit so honda just needs to cut there CBR 500 "which is 471cc" down 21cc to fit in
Considering economies are looking to get worse you'll start to see a new range of smaller bikes and these will become the mid-tier bikes. I'm just guessing of course
Honda doesn't need to do shit. The bike makes perfect 0.2kW/kg, won't get more power because of this. And will not get lighter because of this. If they put a 270° crank it's the bike to keep for life. They could also then just offer a quickshifter, and maybe suspension and brake upgrade kits. You really don't need more bike that what it already has been since 2015. And it needs a rear tire hugger..
Well we can't trust the reliability of CFmoto bike as they are Chinese made, KTM RC 390 on the other hand is much more reliable than that and maintenance cost of a single cylinder is much more lower than a twin cylinder
I guesstimate a Duke 490 and RC490 being made from borrowing the CFMoto 450ss engine platform. Also, I would love a new svartpilen or vitpilen. Realistically a svart or vit 801 or 901. But my fantasy, a svart or vit 1301 or possibly 1401 now that the SD 1390 exist.
The cbr500r is the superior bike here. Just because they're almost 7k in the US doesn't make them expensive in Europe where the R125 from yamaha is already scratching 6k€, and with that the R3 costing about as much as the cbr500r. What is the better bike now? Not to mention that the rc390 looks like shit from the front and didn't really get better in build quality in the past decade and costing also shy under 7k. I think that the ninja 400 is allround better than the RC390, in terms of "rideability", comfort, reliability and some other stuff. But on performing on the track, I think RC beats ninja. Never ridden a ninja tho.,@@titancodm1098
I thinks, Duke 390 are already updated with a 398.63 cc LC4C engine.
That engine will probably make it to the RC390 in a year or so
It is casual in in India. Not a big deal 🙌. I love it because what it offers unmatched in this category.
lmao that ending got me feeling like I'm stuck in the Matrix now.
A2 power limit is 45hp so there is no point to offer a 50hp street-legal bike anywhere in Europe...
any 400cc fast sports bike is a elite bike in india...its actually cool...its more then enough power for me who live in Ooty cold beautiful mountains...so alot of twists and turns...390 is enough...like you can't even use the full power of a 155cc sports bike cause i ain't got no that much road for me...all curves and bends and corners...so yeah...390 is like a super bike
Rc450 would be a fun bike. The 390 is such a fun bike. So so light and nimble. I love mine. Some more hp is all that bike is missing
They are launching new Rc 390 in india with 400cc engine that makes 46hp and 40nm torque with whole new design and looks..
When
No theyre not, thats the duke
Great video. I love this type of motorcycle concept. Would love to see more comparisons of beginner bikes.
I was actually half sleeping. This tripped me out like crazy
same dude lol
Here in South Africa, people are riding mostly the larger cc bikes BMW GS1250 for example or 650 sized bikes. I just bought a versys x-300 which is childs-play but such a fun bike. My other bikes are all 650 sized.
Now, Can i buy 2022 rc 390 or should I wait for new rc 390 arrival.
Please reply brother.♥️
your better of with a rs457
I'd rather get the duke390 over the rc, it looks alot better.
And I like sportsbikes
Good to know it's an Indian made and designed motorcycle, I had no idea and is enough to cross KTM off the list.
i really❤ loved the part where you mention indian bajaj auto and ktm together❤
To be honest... People would still go for the RC390 over the RS457 in India, for one and only one reason: It's cheaper to buy and maintain
Update or maybe down date the rc, the older version looks so much better
Eww
KTM needs an RC inline.
Unsold ninja 400s ? Where ?! Brand new Ninjas have been sold out where i live for months !! And aftermarket prices on them are crazy so gl.
@@4SkinMenace True their usually already sold-out before they reach a dealership. Yet where I am there are still 5 or 6 new 400s as of Saturday.
The zx4rr will kill a ninja 500, but man are they expensive
for a few hundred dollars you are better off with the new Ninja 500 with upgraded instrument panel, more horsepower and more torque.
idk why honda didn't bring CBR 250rr to other region as 300rr and replace the current CBR 300r since it's pretty popular in SEA market. the CBR 250rr uses Paralel Twin engine and make around 40HP which probably can be a bit competitive to rc390 and Ninja 400
RC390 likely won't be replaced anytime soon. Here's why:
Focus on new riders: KTM targets beginner riders who want a sporty motorcycle to learn on.
Have you met the 1390 super duke, or the incoming rc990? Beginer bikea my ass🤣
I love this bike but I hate that the nose and headlight seem to be on a larger proportion scale than the rest of the bike.
The rs 457 is almost a grand more than the rc 390
And costs 1lakh more😂😂😂
@@UNQbiker0008 that's what i said
If you want to buy vehicles above 300 se 400 cc spiet bike then everyone prefers to buy KTM.If there were service centers in the capital of every state of India or in a big city of the state, then everyone could take it, it is quite affordable.Yes, if you have less money then you can buy second hand.
Here is a brief explanation why royal enfield is doing as i understand
when you go to purchase other bike(question and thoughtprocess in mind):-
1) will it be high on price (buying and maintaining)
2)will it be easier to mod and upgradeand will it be available localyor widely plus moding cost will set me how much
3)will it last long miles i.e road trip etc
4) can it go off-road, motorways, highways etc
5)if it fall or cause problem will I be able to fix it or will it set me back a bunch
6) will it be economical in todays world
etc
when you going to buy royal enfield with experice of your own or from a trusted person (question and thoughtprocess in mind)::-
many of the above question but the answer is abously positive as from experince of the person or the trusted source and wmost importantly will it be as i want
so you see royal enfield is trying to set a base that some of above question in future will become like water only thing you will be i your mind will be how can i make it mine
company thought process as an Indian company not much in R&d Money so will have to squeeze more from the current available engines and it also alows what the customer wants as a whole not this my product buy it like others do, company is doing its R&d very slowly but effectively like in case of himalayan Scrrambler 411and Himalayan 450 and try to getmore cc without leting the customer base goas in India customer is close to god!!!
They will update it later this year with the new Duke 399cc engine.
are all of these new more powerful bikes still a2 compliant?
They are actually updating already, maybe they will launch this year or next year
Screw the RS457.
I'm very disappointed
It was supposed to be a 4 stroke version of the rgv 250
It's overweight and underpowered
50+ hp and sub 350 lb READY TO RIDE weight is the benchmark
the current generation RC390 looks ugly, but the previous version 2015 to 2019 RC version looks cool and sharp
7th?
KTM needs a mid class sport bike.
That’s it.
Happy Holidays!!
Yeah but it's defo not getting a new enigne considering that the facelifted duke didn't@@robinv2758
They're still and will be profitable in Asians markets for a reeeeeal loooooong time!
5:51 Still your opinion is very wrong!
The best is the 450SR-S. Just wait for it in North American market, but other people are already enjoying it.
the RC390's biggest problem is the gearing. the 6th gear is useless.
The RC390 was one of my favorite small bikes for a while until the Ninja 500 came out, 51 hp and 31.7. ft. lbs. torque
@@byhsu6140 thanks for the suggestion. But there are a few things I have to have as a proper sports bike. USD fork, radial caliper and aluminum swing arm. I’m actually looking at the ninja 400rr with fondness and the Aprillia RS475. These if I want to stay on small bikes. And the coming KTM RC990 if they can sort out their current organizational mess.
just bring a all black version and people will go crazy!!
RC 390 with an all new 400cc engine is coming.
KTM release price for 2024 in my country (Czechia, EU) -> 8 050,33 $
It´s nearly same price as Honda CBR500R (8095,33 $)
In Serbia both bikes are 7500€, but i got a deal for 7000€+ free quickshifter(180€)
Really like the bike but sr 450 was recently on a discount for only 5500😬
Kinnda regret not buying the cfmoto
@@Shketri94you shouldn’t here in greece 🇬🇷 the price of cf moto is 6000 and ktm rc 390 7000 i regret buying the cf moto way to heavy bike and its not balanced at all when you drive the thing especially in high traffic is unbelievable bad .., and i compare the driving and everything to the rc390 2021 model that my brother has and we exchange bikes for a week
The Ninja 400 is $10,000 . That is expensive for a beginner bike.
In India you will get z900 or zx4rr at that price
obviously it gonna get new 399cc engine as KTM nolonger manufacture 373cc engine, and new headlight, fairing like all other 390 series
There are leaks already about the new 399 engine on the RC390 with new fairing.
What do the leaks say? Still a single?
@@irocss85 They're oil leaks
Is the new 399cc on the duke a twin, no. Do you think the rc will get something else?@@irocss85
You mean like 125cc bikes, which have been around since who knows what. Or 50cc's being the "beginner" category.@@chrispekel5709

said to see Bajaj - KTM scrapped the twin cylinder below 500cc plan.😢
upcoming RC will have Same single cylinder 399cc engine found in Gen3 Duke.
Apparently they're planning a 690 twin so, all's not lost
It could be updated with the new engine of 2023 390 Duke with all the new features
With more features of the engine, you mean the extra displacement?
Yes the new 399 cc engine @@Daniel-dj7fh
2 cylinders for KTM RC 390 and make it 400cc
Well we can't trust the reliability of CFmoto bike as they are Chinese made, KTM RC 390 on the other hand is much more reliable than that and maintenance cost of a single cylinder is much more lower than a twin cylinder
I guesstimate a Duke 490 and RC490 being made from borrowing the CFMoto 450ss engine platform.
Also, I would love a new svartpilen or vitpilen. Realistically a svart or vit 801 or 901. But my fantasy, a svart or vit 1301 or possibly 1401 now that the SD 1390 exist.
The Svartpilen / Vitpilen 801's just came out
The quickshifter Ktm has for these is awful
The cbr500r is the superior bike here.
Just because they're almost 7k in the US doesn't make them expensive in Europe where the R125 from yamaha is already scratching 6k€, and with that the R3 costing about as much as the cbr500r. What is the better bike now?
Not to mention that the rc390 looks like shit from the front and didn't really get better in build quality in the past decade and costing also shy under 7k. Even the Ninja400 is 7k€.
All these bikes cost around 7k (I must mention that the cbr is close to 8k here. One can argue that the cf-moto is the most funky in this category. But we don't know how well they last.
The biggest W for the cbr is that it feels like a big bike, which you can't say the same of for all the others (can't speak for the cfmoto, haven't seen one in person yet).
Having owned both I much prefer the rc390, each to their own but I have a lot more fun with the ktm than I ever did on the Honda.
That picture at 11:37 was taken from Apex Cycle, a powersports dealer in Cambridge Ontario. I knew that photo looked familiar haha

go for the ninja400 for reliability man. that's what im gonna do.
Ninja 400 is way more reliable than the RC 390. I've ridden both hard on track and the 400 does better, in my honest opinion. More parts/mods/track ready stuff readily available.

Sadly RS457 already dethroned it
