What percentage is considered a high spandex content? Also I think you said you can use cotton spandex. Does it just need to be a thick cotton spandex to work?
Hi, I'm new to sewing my own clothes and I've watched all the beautiful Gala Gown that have been made. I decided to make it for my wedding gown. I have a beautiful foiled stretch lace and a foiled stretch satin. My question is do I really need a lining or can I use the stretch satin as a lining for the lace?
You will just have to finish the neckline differently or you will be able to see your seam allowances through the lace at the edges if you line it like the tutorial. Does that make sense? The seams are hidden between the lining and main fabrics in the tutorial, so if your main fabric (the lace) is sheer you will see those seams there.
@@michellie5929 That makes sense. Sorry you had to do it the hard way! I am not sure if you are on the P4P Facebook page, but I typically get super fast answers on there.
Thank you! This is a great bonus with the pattern!!!

Could you do a video explaining how to add a lace overlay? That blue ponte with stretch lace gown is to die for!
Hi, I just treated the 2 layers as one :) sewed it exactly the same!
@@PatternsforPirates1 so simple..and yet so intimidating! I will give it a shot!! Thanks!!
You can baste around all the pattern pieces edges together before you start to help!

Thank you so much!!!
If my fabric is thick enough do I actually need a lining?
I personally would. I feel like they lay better with the lining, but that’s just my personal opinion. :)
@@Knitterbug thank you very much. I worked it out the hard way that the neckline doesn't sit right without a lining unfortunately

hi i wanna sew with silk shamoz can i use this fabric ?
The Gala Gown is drafted for stable knits...so something with no stretch wont work with it.
I want to make this dress with stretch velvet, what would you suggest to use as a lining?
