i find it so dumb that the doors to the MRI are not locked behind a card swipe and that the Machine is even on when there is no patient using it

You can't turn off the primary magnetic field. I mean you can, but restarting it takes multiple days
@@paulm.7420 I'm not sure it takes several days, more like hours. It really depends on what type of scanner it is, but most MRIs are always on
From someone who works in a hospital and has some experience with MRIs, they should be locked behind a key card and/or adequately signed to warn people. There are usally safeguards in place like for example my hospital has their MRIs behind another door after the locked door. Also MRIs are always on, except for rare occasions of maintenance, it's just how they work. Hope this helps
In a normal Hospital (not tv) they would behind several locked doors!
newborns dont instantly look like each parents at all, its not until a baby is a few days old that you can notice some key futures, such as noses or eyes

I've never seen a hospital that xrays,mri,ct,etc rooms didn't have the doors locked and needed a keycard to open them. I've seen a lot of hospitals too
Me and my wife was watching this episode just to caught up for the new season of Chicago and when Dr.Charles said Neurofibromatosis I jump up and kinda of smile I have NF type 1 and it’s rare to hear it on a tv show like this. Now when we were in the delivery room I also look over my new born son to see if he has it also well. It took a few months to diagnose him. But I never thought my baby boy wasn’t mine. I told my wife about my condition and we both were prepared for the outcome. To have that burden on him alone is unbearable

maybe both use large and extremely cold superconductors... and what we actually hear is the cooling mechanism. Or they both use other technology which is very similar between those two.

Why is the machine on if no one’s in it?
because IRL you can't turn off the magnets in an MRI machine. Magnets are always magnetic, the show just likes to pretend you can turn them off and on for whatever reason
MRIs are constantly powered. MRI magnets are activated with a power supply that is only needed when starting the magnet. Think of it like jump-starting a car with no battery: the engine has fuel being provided to keep the engine running, but it needs a spark to start the process. In this case, the magnet is a superconductor so it's powered by liquid helium (the coldest element on earth) which activates the magnet. You CAN turn an MRI off by "quenching" it, which CAN be dangerous, but is mostly just REALLY expensive. Keeping an MRI on doesn't cost anything as the helium is sealed inside the MRI. The sounds created by the MRI happen as a result of electricity being pumped through electromagnets around the supermagnet, which creates the magnetic field.

Sudden paranoia, maybe Capgras? It can cause someone to become paranoid while not recognizing your loved ones. Or maybe the shock of being a parent caused something?

What sue said. He changed his diet to accommodate his wife's food adversions from being pregnant which made an underlying illness pop up and give him psyche episodes.
@@BN-hp8um can changing a diet really do that? It’s a little extreme but then again, the human body is just full mysteries we still don’t fully understand
Guess he paniced, went into instant denial and ran. Like flight or fight mode. The brain can do dumb things to save the life. Well dumb in the current world and circumstances.
