That kid was molested and instead of protecting their son, they signed a shut up contract and forced their son to keep quiet for a bunch of hush money, and then when their son started acting out and hurting their daughter and other kids, they did nothing to protect their daughter and paid off the parents of the other kids to keep them quiet.
These parents are complete and utter garbage. They basically pimped out their underage son and allowed him to abuse his sister and other innocent kids. They are the exact type of people who shouldn't have children in the first place.

Why is it that parents always care more about the child that's being abusive rather than the child that's being abused?
I think it's a misguided attempt to protect the troubled child.
I know they have misplaced priorities. They are feeling helpless, trapped, and lacking a moral compass. You need to focus on loving your child and believing everything they tell you. You never put yourself above your children, ever! I know because I worked in child welfare for almost 12 years and saw my fair share of vile cases such as this one.

And then instead of using the money to give him the therapy he needs they allow him to self destruct and put other kids including their daughter at risk.

For parents to defend their children's negative actions and behavior, including being bullies, they must face the consequences.
They didn't get him therapy b/c if he discloses abuse by law in NYS the therapist has to report it to the police.

She’s all I want and I waited for so long.
I have a friend who was molested when she was little, around 4 yrs or so. She remembers the physical pain from the encounter, and the emotional pain from being beaten and blamed for it by her mother. She’s well into her 40’s now and she still chokes up and cries when she remembers the incident.
Such wounds from childhood never heal.
You never forget this pain no matter how much therapy you go to. It's torture
Outbursts of anger, violent tendencies. This young man is a good actor. These are things children do when they are being abused (in any way)
Not all kids since many people deal with traumas differently, but some do. I dealt with it by being afraid of men for a long time. I got mental health help but many people can’t or don’t

Fact: in the ending the father and mother moved the kid out of state to keep him from testifying and the father was held in contempt as he still refused to give up the boys location and the lawyer who was appointed to look
After his sons best interest was determined to keep the father in jail until he gave in
Encouraging and defending bad behavior and action will only end badly.

I've never watched this show, but it's clear the psychologist was the only one who realised the child was being abused because of how "adult" he was acting. I feel like if a little girl was acting out the same way, the detectives would've figured it out too. This is how sexually abused children act.

Does anybody else want them to revisit this because I do. Especially with JJ and seeing what happened to him. Knowing that he did not need to keep quiet, and that contract was garbage his parents signed just to get money. I would love to see a grown up JJ walk into the Squad as a new detective because SVU were the only people who realized he had a problem and actively tried to help him.
There was a kid in my high school who violently threatened me in a very horrific way and I reported him to the principal, he got in huge trouble even the teachers got on him. But also, he got help, they sent him with the school psychologist, the principal became his friend and he apologized to me. He became my good friend afterwards also, never ever said anything negative to me again. He was a good guy, he just held a lot in. He also told me how his little brothers, parents and pet dogs got on his nerves everyday and he had no peace in his home

The child actor who played this kid had to have gone through therapy after this role. To actually play it so well, you have to grasp something in you that gives this kind of performance.
This episode was based on the late Michael Jackson and the story behind it was that Mr. Tripley who is a toymaker, has frequent visits from children and as a result, he has his own room called the treasure chest. In the end, A mother and her son attempted to blackmail Mr. Tripley by planting evidence which would backfire. But the character's father in the episode, would be in jail indefinitely and the son would be sent to another state with stabler stating, 'we will get him'

Not too split hairs but it was a Grand Mother and Grand Daughter who tried to blackmail Mr Tripley but it worse as the Grand Mother ws poisoning her Grand Daughter to look like she suffered from leukemia. That ending though where Mr Tripley is having a party to celebrate being cleared of charges surrounded by kids is haunting.

This reminds me of the gymnast, whose parents accepted that money when that doctor was inappropriately touching their kid and others, and went on to do it again. That whole thing made me sick.

Where is DCFS/CPS in all of this? They should have taken protective custody and the girl should have talked to a child advocate because the cops are not trained in these types of situations.
This is one of the saddest episodes in my opinion. And the lady who planted "evidence" that basically made the guy walk free so they had no choice but to wait for the next victim. I understand wanting to catch these guys but the other guardian who planted evidence fucked the whole investigation up. Uhg. It saddens me that stuff like this happens too and then look at the system vs the tv. I know there are good and bad cops/detectives but let them do their job theyll find what they need to put these guys away as best they can. The good ones anyway

It wasn't that she was doing it to put a sick man in jail she was sick and craved the attention and money they got for being the parent/guardian of a victim.

This episode was such a bummer. Once they get the billionaire guy in custody JJ’s lawyer produces this video of JJ(the kid) recanting the allegation and saying he lied, then he disappears. The Dad refuses to tell the detectives where JJ is and is put in jail under contempt of court. JJ is eventually found in Maine with an uncle but before they can arrest the uncle and get JJ they flee across the border into Canada. Another little girl with cancer claims she was abused by Billy, but it ends up being that her Grandmother had been poisoning her to make it look like she had cancer and forced her to lie about the abuse for money. The grandmother, the little girls only family member, is put in prison and the girl is put in foster care. The end of the episode is especially sick, it ends with Billy throwing a big party at his mansion for all these little kids, and Stabler and Olivia just have to watch as this guy is being hugged by all these kids. It’s such a bummer episode.
So disgusting especially when you realise this actually probably does happen in real life. I hope for the worst for all these sick people.
And possibly worst of all, and as Novak puts it, Billy (the millionaire guy) can now claim false accusations to any child with a legitimate claim of abuse at his hands.

Never let your kids stay at anybody and everybody's house. Friend or no friend, boss or no boss. You'd be surprised how many kids have come out as adults about their parents' friends abusing them sexually, verbally, physically, emotionally, psychologicaly and sometimes all five. How many more kids have to be added to this list before parents get the message? How many?
That’s hardly fair. While yes it’s true that kids are far more likely to be hurt by someone they know than a stranger, not every trusted adult is doing this nor can we keep kids in a bubble. Kids deserve to have sleepovers with friends and spend time with relatives and family friends without mom and dad. The only solution is to teach kids to look for red flags and for parents to also spot red flags and make themselves safe people for kids to confide in.

I really miss this era of SVU with Elliot. They went with some dark but also realistic cases that really packed a emotional punch that the later seasons never really managed to recapture.
Very important that everyone know this! No contract or NDA can be used to cover up a crime or keep someone silent about a crime. If you are aware of a crime that was committed, but signed a privacy contract or NDA, that contract becomes null and void in that regard. You not only have the legal right to speak up without repercussion, but you have a moral obligation to speak up. No one can use a contract to keep a victim quiet. They may try. But they won’t. If it goes to court, there are many victim advocacy groups who ensure victims are represented, aren’t bribed or scared into complacency and keeping quiet, and to prevent pressures being put on them, both emotional, social, and financial. Some perpetrators will try to use contracts to punish someone for speaking up or to try and keep them quiet. “I’ll sue you if you speak up” etc. Just reach out to a victims advocacy group and they can help navigate you through the legal system when NDA’s and privacy contracts are involved and someone is trying to use those to keep people quiet about said crime.

This is so sick and twisted and I know this is just a show but still awesome job with the acting I literally felt all the emotions and not gonna lie there some senses that made me tear up a bit for the poor kid character but still great job on the acting👏🏼🎭 ( what episode and season is this it’s been a long time so I forgot )

The way he just stands up and goes from 1 to 100, knocking stuff over, was truly a child screaming and hurting inside. And since he didn’t know what else to do with those intense emotions and trauma, he really did impulsively want the world to burn and suffer with him.
It doesn’t excuse that he’s hurt others but all the blame isn’t on him but all on his parents for betraying him. I don’t get how parents can sleep at night being aware what’s happened to their kid like that.
This is exactly why I never was excited about turning 18. Everyone believes turning 18 is a big deal. No expects a kid to be a school shooter or a harm towards others for no other reason besides the kid being under 18. If you are 17, people don’t see you capable of harming others. If you are 18 or above then they consider the possibility that this person can cause harm.
I don’t give children the benefiting of any doubt just because they are under 18 or elementary school children. There is a strong possibility that someone can be a harm towards others. That is why people often fail to detect school shooters or other type of kids who can cause harm: They don’t think a kid or a kid under 18 is capable of doing so; so they would turn a blind eye.
I have 3 baby cousins and they behave all time and hardly ever cause trouble. Does that mean I will ignore the possibility that they could one day be a threat just because they behave under my watch all the time? No. I prefer to keep an open mind and possibilities open. It’s always those you least expect that can leave you surprised and who you don’t see coming; that why someone being under 18 doesn’t work on me; they are still capable of doing harm. Those under 18 do the crime then they do the time.

I've never met anyone who thinks a 17 year old "isn't capable of harming others." Just because the law defines adulthood as 18+, that doesn't mean anyone thinks that people under 18 can't cause harm. Literally no one thinks that. Even under the law, minors are frequently charged as adults if the crime is severe.

Old classmates I found did a predator bust of a guy they once knew in highschool. He did something no one expected. He was 16 and made an 11 year old give him a blow job. We discovered it after a pedophile bust when he was yrs later 23 trying to meet with a 13 year old. His parents excused him when he was 16. The fact that juvenile detention centers exist is proof that, as a society, we recognize that children can and do harm others.

This Kid reminds me of myself when I was his age thank God At least one of my Parents were Decent enough to Get me help. I had a lot of people in my life Help me out of it and now I'm doing Better. It's never too late for these kids man they just need to want change. They need to desire to grow and be better. Give them a reason.

Same here. It wasn't until years after airing, during a rerun marathon, but this is the first one I remember too.
what's terrible is the epsiode ended with the guy getting away with it on a cliffhanger and they NEVER made a follow up epsiode
they had a few episode where i wonder what could happen after the end credit
The parents were the reason the guy got away because they ran away and hid their son who is the only witness to the case I’m guessing they got bribed again. So the trial got dismissed ( I think ).

The fucked up thing is, with the context, it is possible that the parents did not so much care about their sons wellbeing as they wanted him not to to be in a position in which his motivation to talk outweighed his fear of his parents.
When an airsoft group I played with accused me of stealing money (and had nothing but suspicions), rather than even think of speaking in defense of me, my old man went off on me and ordered me to pretty much accept responsibility for it.
So yeah, what this kid's parents did doesn't surprise me in the slightest. You'd think your own flesh and blood would always stand up for you, but it turns out that even they're capable of betraying you.

Some parents excuse and defend their children's bad behavior and negative actions, including bullying, abusing, and stealing. Some trust the wrong people. Both of these people deserve punishment.

Can’t punish what you can’t prove. With the witness gone they can’t have a trial. At best they would hold the dad until the kid comes back and the trial can begin but it never happened.
So no one is addressing the MJ elephant in the room. The writers couldn’t have made it more obvious.

Tonnes of kids get abused and they don't act like he did. It's no excuse
He needed an outlet and that is his cry for help and attention on what was done to him the only way he knows how. Kids have trouble regulating emotions over past trauma.
Children who are abused / molested have brain changes which make them that way. It's horrible on all fronts.

Given how perverse Hollywood is I would say they are not treated well. Look at Corey Feldman & Corey Haim. Both victims of child moIestation in the 80's. didn't end with them either & still goes on to this day.
