God, the intro just reminds me of how much I would hate to have a Dr. Manhattan superbeing in my life. "Hey Speciman X, want some lunch?" "Lunch is a human construct to denote the time when a small meal should be eaten, and time is a constr-" "Fuck you. You suck. I'm eating lunch by myself."
DC has the rights to do whatever they want with the Watchmen property. Morally, Before Watchmen should not exist due to the fact that Moore was adamant about not adding any sort of narrative to the original book. I feel Doomsday Clock is different because Geoff Johns had a new concept of viewing the DC Multiverse in a way that recontextualizes the events of DC Comics that happen to involve the Watchmen characters.
Glad to see your guys back! The intro sequence was top tier Imperius. I loved the Rorschach impression haha...I liked certain parts of Before Watchmen like the Minutemen and Ozymandias, but everything else felt very unnecessary with regards to the original story, in that, I felt like it didn't add anything knew that we couldn't infer...
No. I just am super uncomfortable with anything non-Moore & Gibbons Watchmen. I won't decry anyone who works on it or enjoys it. But Moore outright said if you read Before Watchmen, stop reading his books. It just feels ugly to me. If DC had let the rights go we may have had a Moore and Gobbons Minutemen, which would have been fascinating.
I am still cheering up for that alternative universe where Batman instead of the watchmen button picks up Grifter's mask : Wild C.A.T.S is coming. Or Batman pickung up a sergio aragonez drawing: Alfred E. Neuman is coming. Or Captain America pickung up a dead body: Miracleman is coming
Tevya Smolka Very unnecessary. For the longest time Editor in Chief at DC, Paul Levitz mandated that while he was in charge no one but Moore could touch Watchmen. Once he retired though Didio took over & said to hell with integrity! We got ducats to earn baby! Lol
Completely agree. It’s a collection of highs and lows, like most anthology works. I know Moore and his supporters are adamant that Watchmen remain untouched but I can’t say I didn’t enjoy what this talented collection of comic creators brought to the table. I try to look at it as more of a tribute piece than a cash grab (which unfortunately it is)
@@ImperiusRex Agree. I love Moore's work as much as the next fan but I'm not anal about it. I don't remember any shit stories in the omnibus. Some better than others but nothing terrible. Gorgeous art throughout too. The film got the same shit even though I thought it was outstanding. I have to admit I couldn't get pass 3 episodes of the series though...I'm gonna try again later this year but it just didn't work for me. ✌️
@@geminisundone Wow- I actually LOVED the series. Thought it was the best Watchmen-inspired piece of media since the original Watchmen comic. But I also loved the movie and most of the tie-ins. I really enjoy the universe and the consequences that continue to play out from the initial story, and I thought most of the continuations have handled it pretty tastefully (the series in particular)
@@ImperiusRex I'll have to rewatch it then as I couldn't stand it and gave up after 3 episodes. That said I've read a few comic runs before and hated them only to re-read further down the line in a different mood and loved them. Re-reads/watchs are essential before truly giving up as the saying goes... Art in all its forms, once set, never changes. But we do.
Dave Gibbons was & is the unsung hero of Watchmen! He never gets the amount of credit he deserves considering he drew everything!
right
Well, Alan Moore did sign over his share of the book to Dave Gibbons, so, there’s that…
Man Dave dressed as Silk Spectre having a three way with himself(s) was hilarious. And probably pretty normal for Dave in hindsight. 😆
Great episode, and no the answer is no “before Watchmen” should not exist
HOLY HELL I didn't think you two could top the Dr. Manhattan act, but now Rorschach? BRILLIANT

Always love to see a new video from you guys!
HA! LMAO! This framing device is HILARIOUS! I love Dr Manha- I mean Ghost Hunter Dave! 😜

Didn't know how much I needed this until now :P Love this. The work and effort put into this is astounding and really shines through
Damn ,somehow I keep missing the new uploads. This is one of my favorite episodes. Great job boy!!
The boys are back in town! Great video as always!
Cracked up so much during this one. Great work as always. I don't keep up with DC so felt like good education. Came believe you got Alan for this!!!
Thanks Mikey! Alan was tough to wrangle, but once we were able to remove his snake rings he became quite docile.
"How dare you?" Lol
Big up guys, first episode of 2020 :)
It was worth the wait, gents. Great job! In my headcanon, Whisker's St. Elliott is hanging out with Alan Moore in that bungalow.

Can’t wait for more of the Dr Davehatten and Troyshach and of course Alan Moore
Hey imperious Rex when are you gonna do a review on doomsday clock or anything done by Geoff John like flash rebirth green lantern rebirth and ect
Troy's so funny at the start of this 😂
Love your videos.
Are you gonna dub that 3 way the Dr. Dave Spectre Special or just go with the usual Triple Dutch Rudder
Might need to explore those options in a top tier Patreon special... ;)
The ending was great! I'm honestly more excited to hear you talking about PA, rather than the show and DClock.
..... what's PA again?
@@ImperiusRex Morrison's Pax Americana. You guys HAVE to do it.
@@stankovicf Oh yeah. That one. Yeah, we've already filmed it. :)

Whoa...........👁
I Personally believe before watchmen shouldn’t exist why mostly because well before watchmen felt like a unnecessary prequel series in my opinion.

Langley M Neely I can agree with that not with dan didio no but with Paul levitz because he’s one hundred percent right
This is madness lmao
Just finished reading the omnibus.
Enjoyed it.
Was it needed?
No but still there's some decent storys in there.

Glad to hear it! Kick up your feet, pour a drink and stay a while!
Very funny
no
you guys are fucking awesome, would you guys ever do some Moon Knight ??????
I think we both have a bunch of Moon Knight books... chances are... maybe.
Doomsday clock should not exist
I want to join that blue man group. 🥵
Terrible skit for 7 minutes. "Can we get this shit over with?!"
Thanks for taking the time out of your day to share your disappointment!
Thought this was a review not a cringey gimmick I'm out
Shut the door on your way please. Drafts.
