- Hey guys! Hope you all enjoyed taking a look at the creation and development of Cream the Rabbit and E-123 Omega from Sonic Heroes! Cream the Rabbit and E-123 Omega, in my opinion, while being relatively small characters in the franchise have seriously complimented and flesh out their "teams" or roles in Heroes making them some of my favorites in the franchise! I thought it would be kinda cool to see why and how they were added to Sonic Heroes! I also thought the concept art for these guys was super alluring and interesting with the different evolutions they went through throughout development...it's so cool to see how much Heroes' concept art differed from Sonic Adventure and Sonic Adventure 2's Concept art

Eh, prototypes are always far better since mass production often cuts quite a few corners. Remember how pathetic the mass produced E-102 Gammas were in SA2? Barely more dangerous than a Motobug.

I miss Cream, even though she kinda took the role of "nice girl" from Amy, while the latter had a huge character shift. Still, Cream felt like she was part of the inner circle of the main 4 before Sega silently moved her to the background.
And Omega is a character that is consistantly funny from the day he was introduced. Always wanted to see more of him.

I too miss Cream as I came into the franchise with the advance games along with the GameCube ports so she was always a big player in the franchise when I came in so it has been really weird seeing her shifted into oblivion in recent years...I also want more Omega, heck I want more Team Dark overall hahaha
@@Eldarin I got into the series during the time she was pretty much one of the main characters as well. I always thought she brought something to the main group that seems missing now. Amy doesn’t seem to have a best friend in the games anymore and I always felt that Cream would bring out a softer side from the other characters. It seems to me like they treat her like a weakling now a days but I’d always seen her as a sweet and innocent girl that you don’t want to get mad otherwise she’d send Cheese on you haha
@NS 317 I’ve always found it weird that Cream, Espio and Charmy usually get left out of side games. Not only are they not playable in the Olympic Games they also wasn’t playable in the racing game for some odd reason
I actually preferred cream to Amy. Amy could be annoying at times.
@Orkhiss And her being popular in Japan kinda doesn't matter since Sonic as a whole doesn't seem to be that popular there, with the fanbase being dominantly western.
Cream is still by far my favorite female Sonic character after seeing her for the first time as a kid. I just wished she was utilized more in the games. Like in Team Sonic Racing where (for some reason) she got replaced by Chao in Team Rose..

The only reason I think they did it because Chao are sort of a part of team rose with Cheese, or they didn’t want a kid like Cream who is more child like than Chao and the other members of the cast, still doesn’t makes sense though, at least they didn’t make it like Vector without the rest of the Chaotix.

I always respect how Japanese voice actors seem to stay more consistent. Barring certain circumstances, I think it's better to keep a character's voice actor the same whenever possible, helps them feel like the same character.
7:19 That actually makes sense. Most Sonic characters are like a bit above 3 feet so in comparison to their height Omega seems pretty towering. With that in mind though, you will never convince me that those annoying white wastes of space are taller than him.
Overall Omega and Cream are some of my favourite Sonic characters for obviously very different reasons. I love Creams gentle polite demeanor and Omega's fiery lust for vengance. It was really interesting seeing their original designs and I have to say I am very happy with the final ones we got.

Also the Jerboa concept was also used for Fang the Sniper, whose creator designed him with a "Jerboa motif" in mind. In Japan he was referred to as a half wolf half jerboa, but in America he was just a weasel.

Omega is one of my favourite Sonic characters. It's like Sega said "what if Gamma, instead of destroying his brothers to free the birds inside them, he did it because he's an oilthirsty murder robot with a petty hatred for Eggman?"

Honestly, I wish they would bring Gamma back. Seeing the more pensive and thoughtful Gamma bounce off the trigger-happy Omega would be pretty cool.
I too think it would be cool what kind of interactions Omega and Gamma had...who knows maybe we will get lucky in Sonic Prime?

Even when SEGA screwed every character, they could never screw E-123 omega over
I can't believe SEGA went out of their way to give Omega a cool moment in Forces.
Omega's characterization is pretty easy to understand: he's a trigger-happy rageaholic with a king-sized ego that assists others in their quest to defeat Eggman.
Meanwhile, Chaos, a character that never speaks and rarely gives visual emotes, and who effortlessly defeated Knuckles in his zero form, gets knocked out in a single blow (by someone who has never encountered Chaos before) in Sonic Forces.
That is until you remember how he was in Sonic 06. As an Omega fan, that was disgraceful. His characterization and voice in Japanese and English was way off. He didn't even get a voice filter and could barely move in the cutscenes. They gave him the personality of a toaster, he didn't mention wanting to murder Eggman a single time... In fact he _never_ mentions Eggman, and never even interacts with him. And he allows himself to be reprogrammed to betray Shadow in the future, the real Omega wouldn't stand for such a thing and wouldn't bother working with any humans, especially GUN. And his face looked weird, his visor thing made him look long and dopey and he didn't have the constantly scowling look he used to have. He sucked to play as too, just had a peashooter and didn't punch a single worthless consumer model. Just ruined all around. When it comes to Sonic, no one seems to be safe.

Cream is such a badass little girl in the IDW comics, especially during the Meta-Virus saga.
And Omega was my favorite part about Heroes, his superiority complex is such a blast to hear
Cream: The character portrayed as a bit of a weakling in the story, only to show her true colours during gameplay. She's the Easy mode of Advance 2, which was already an easy game to begin with, she can carry the fattest cat despite only being six, and she was practically a God in Sonic Chronicles. Easily the most broken character that isn't any of the Super forms of the main trio.
Imagine if cream went super :O

I've been fond of Cream ever since the first time I saw her on my GBA.
That one concept version of Cream resembles Marine from Sonic Rush Adventure, which is pretty interesting considering both their roles in that series
I believe what you called the raccoon is more meant to be a red panda given how the ears are implied to a different color & the face pattern matching perfectly with the animal.
Hate that Cream was cut from Team Sonic Racing, made no sense for Chao to take her place!

Sonic Heroes has a special place in my heart, it was because of him that I met my first best friend and started to head into the franchise, I remember that we used to play for hours, mainly the Grand Metropolis, Power Plant, Frog Forest and Egg Fleet, I think it is because of him that I have a special affection for these phases, I miss him, I think he was one of the main people who introduced me and taught me the basics of the Sonic series

@@Eldarin Oh, man! Same here. I remember when I was a kid, me, my brother Tyler and my grandma went to Circuit City and bought a copy of Sonic Heroes for the PlayStation 2. However, the PS2 port of Sonic Heroes runs at 30 frames per second and the sound quality is awful. I miss going to Circuit City.

It should be noted that Lani Minella was the voice acting director for both the Adventure-era games and Duke Nukem 3D (at least I think she was for Duke Nukem 3D; there isn’t a credit specifically for the director of voice acting in that game’s credit, but she is credited as voice talent alongside Jon St. John), which would explain why they got the voice of Duke Nukem to voice Omega and Big.
I'm glad they went with creams lop ears acting as hair, I think the length helps differentiate her

Well that happens when he has only to be giant to characters that are walking Meters (Sonic being 3`3ft after all)
I find it weird cream was pushed so much when she was made when now she’s almost been forgotten now. Then again omega seemed like he had the same fate after not appearing in generations yet now he hasn’t been far behind from shadow. Huh actually he and cream never appeared in the same game in recent years besides the Olympics and colours DS.
I guess because Omega is a more cool design to promote and makes a fun action figure. He’s red, black and gunmetal with touches of gold.
Ironic considering it took nearly two decades to get an official figure through Jakks while Rouge and Cream got one figure each in the Sonic X Toy Island line in the 2000’s before getting second gos 10+ years later after Jazwares and Tomy both at a go before Jakks Pacific got the license and still has the license as of this writing with Wave 17 of the 4 inch line giving us our first Neo Metal Sonic figure. Funny how that works.

I LOVE Omega. Gosh, what a wasted character. I seriously hope the next Sonic game has other playable characters again. Omega needs soooo much more shine.
I think no matter the gameplay style we will be getting multiple characters to play as, the universe is so big its such ashame if they dont!
Interesting that they almost went with a jerboa character again, the first being Fang a jerboa-wolf hybrid. Maybe she was gonna be a callback to him, both having long ranged attacks and all.
It’d be interesting how that would have went if they went with the jerboa design and how the expanded media would tackle them being of the same species. Maybe in Pre-Reboot Archie Sonic, they would have made Fang her evil uncle, evil cousin or something like that.
Definitely two of the most Underrated Sonic characters of all time
Bro I'm fucking in love the trios/teams Heroes gave us. Whether you like the gameplay or not, you have to admit all the characters bounce off each other perfectly and are all so likeable!
Both these characters are so awesome. Team Dark worked so well together man, we gotta see more of that
Omega is also the only Sonic character who hasn't gotten an action figure. I am still praying that both he and Rouge are added to the Jakks Pacific 4 Sonic line.

As crazy as this sounds, what if Cream had her own solo game? Like Shadow did, except without the swearing, the gunplay and getting 10 endings to complete the game.
That could be interesting! Almost like.... the polar opposite of an edgy spin-off? Cream just running around with Cheese, talking to people and helping them out with chores. xD

Cream, she’s my all time favorite sonic character. She’s adorable and a very sweet character. Also she’s a rabbit, rabbits are one of my favorite animals. I’m also fond of the color orange. I really miss her in games. I also found her friendship with amy and blaze adorable. Her name fits her as she’s well mannered and kind. But she’s also a very brave young girl and that’s why she’s my number one favorite. I hope to see her in more games.

I love Cream so much! She’s so sweet and cute. Since I live in Japan, I’m sometimes forced to play the Japanese versions of games, but with Heroes, getting to hear Cream speak so politely is adorable! She really deserves to be part of the main cast more. To me, the ideal Hero cast for Sonic would be Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, Amy, and Cream & Cheese! It just feels like the perfect balance for the heroes and allows a female hero besides just Amy. She’s so unique and fun too. I genuinely miss her and hope we can see more of her.
I never gave much thought to Omega when I played through Heroes, Shadow 2005, and 06... but as an adult I really like him. He’s just so cheesy and fun! His attitude and design are really appealing and I’m glad he and Rouge are great companions to Shadow.

I always wanted to visit there myself, it seems so beautiful with flora and nature there. I also always felt Cream added an awesome dynamic to the crowd and it was very weird for her to be sidelined as when I entered the franchise back in 2003-4 Cream was always there and it was the advance/X crowd being pushed all the time. I love Omega especially due to his humor and his design is just flatout awesome. I am excited to see what you think of what's to come. I really enjoy making these and being able to give a different angle of appreciation on the franchise especially for the younger crowd has been super happy for me. Thanks for watching :)))
@@Eldarin - Japan’s pretty swell. Like any country, it has pros and cons. I’ve lived here for over 6 years now... so the cons are definitely becoming more apparent. But I think that’s how any country would be. Sadly, the vaccine distribution has not been handled well by the government, so the pandemic has been really bad lately. Even so, I think the country, food, and people are amazing. The entertainment like J-pop and Japanese movies are great too.
I’m glad you like Cream so much. You’re right though, her getting sidelined is absolutely baffling. But it’s not like the characterizations of the Sonic cast and the handling of the writing has been a he same since 2010. Sonic’s in a much different perspective within SEGA then it was when Heroes, Advance 3, and Unleashed were.
As a fan of the character, it's interesting to me that they were really hyping Cream up back then.
Your videos are always insanely enjoyable and informative, always make me have an appreciation for things I knew next to nothing about, only 9 minutes ago.

Maybe the scrapped Cream's jerboa design because they already had a jerboa in Fang the Sniper. Also, that tanuki design looks closer to a red panda.

It's been a while.
I recently beat the games surrounding Heroes, like the advance games, battle, Heroes itself, et cetera. And Omega was always a replacement for my love, Gamma, but he was still undoubtedly cool. Cream & Cheese were never my favorite when I originally played Heroes and others. But after me beating these games, I had a newfound love for cream.
She's an adorable rabbit that just manages to repeatedly be kickass in the games. In about all games she's playable, she's OP for no good reason, save Heroes and the games that characters aren't exactly unique. Advance 2/3, Battle, Chronicles- I dunno, she just is badass. I love it.
Your positive opinion and reverence for Sonic Heroes on the whole is so refreshing. It's always been very difficult for me to see the flaws people point out as ruining - or even seriously hampering - this game. It's so charming and vibrant, and even the rougher edges of this game like Chaotix's gameplay are still very fun changes of pace.

Another funny thing about Omega's height of 4' 11" is that it makes him significantly shorter then Gamma who was at 7' 1" , and while you could say Gamma's came mostly from his legs I still think that's pretty funny and kinda makes me feel that Omega's generally hostile/short tempered feel may come from some slight shortness complex as a result of his smaller height compared to his other brothers in the E-Series, though that probably doesn't have any actual basis in his character, just a funny thing I like to think about.

I already saw the Cream concept art some time ago and I've got to say that the other designs look wierd compared to the final one. Omega in his conceptual state looks more like a Mega Man boss than something Eggman would create but it seems that he was intended to look more similar to other E-Series robots. And yes, I also agree that he has some of the best lines in the franchise.

actually in the 2020 olympic game she was actually a tourist, i think most people didn’t know that she ws a side quest and that you were supposed to talk to here in different place around japan
4:07 - Given Marine the Raccoon effectively serves as the Tails/Cream for Blaze, it seems rather befitting that her design came from one of Cream's beta designs. I can also certainly see the old-school Sonic vibe coming from Omega's original design (6:40).
Neat video here; always cool to learn of character origins and the design process of them. It never seemed like it at the time but it's amazing how rapidly Cream was adopted into the core Sonic characters cast with the close time-frame of Advance 2, X and Heroes.
I think they should bring back the Adventure formula (and improve upon it) and the Heroes formula and maybe mix both of these idk that’s my opinion.

Guess they recycled some of Cream's prototype designs for Marine.
I'd heard that one of the reasons Cream was created was to help boost sales of Sonic in Japan, where it wasn't selling as well as in North America, by appealing to the Japanese kawaii culture.

I think Omega is even smaller than Gamma.
And those concept Cream designs can easily be repurposed into new characters, or at least background characters.
Both characters deserve a comeback. Cream took the female version of Tails like their speed type friends between Team Sonic (male) and Team Rose (female), and Omega replaced Eggman as Team Dark's power type, so the team was now independent. But in Sonic Prime, neither of which were there with both other members of each team, so if Season 2 comes out, both could make a large impact on Netflix and Sega lore as a whole if they do.

@@Eldarin there was short I can remember seeing from an artist I saw from reddit which covers a get together of the flight characters as they say about how hard done by they are with carrying their team mates, as the Speed and Power characters weights are listed. I do like how for Team Rose, Amy's is show off being much as it with her weight according to the Sonic Channel, which is simply listed as S-E-C-R-E-T!
