Excellent comparison. I came here watching Jon’s video. I’m shopping for a new vehicle and I think that you’ve convinced me to go for the Land Cruiser. For me, the price, gas mileage (since I keep my cars for at least 10-15 years), button layouts, and overall rugged and old school look of the Land Cruiser. Thank you!!!
I got the land c yesterday. Really impressed with the power from a 4 cylinder. Great ride. I looked at night and glad I took the LC. Way more power than my Trd pro 4runner it seems and much more roomy. I got the first edition trail dust and everyone loves the color. Either way you won’t lose.
Great video. I agree the GX OT+ is a better value proposition compared to the FE Land Cruiser right off the shelf. However, if buyers plan to modify their respective rigs, the LC will be easier and cheaper to mod. Have fun with that awesome e-KDSS when you want a real suspension lift, and I doubt it can be DIY (does anyone know how it really works other than Koji Tsukasak at the moment?). Even the old KDSS requires more expensive lift kits and special care, lest you want to break it. Finally, I doubt the 3000-lb difference in towing capacity is due to the GX having 23 more hp and 15 lb/ft torque. The secret has to be in the chassis and the GX, somehow, has a stronger one, even though the 2 rigs share almost identical underpinnings. Great job with the video.
I wonder if the LC having a battery in the back and a smaller engine up front makes it less wallowing feeling than the GX with a bigger engine up front.
It might be an illusion but I believe the screens are exactly the same size. GX looks larger because the glass extends all beyond the knobs. Oh btw, your GX has a 3.4 liter, the Tundra has the 3.5, Automotive Press says they are different engines so fingers crossed that you're GX will be fine. Plus your GX is built in the same plant as the Land Cruiser back in Japan instead of Mexico like the Tundra. Edit: Sorry my bad, Tundra's built in TX.
I believe LC has a 12” and GX is 14.” I’ve seen 3.4 and 3.5 listed for Tundra. The only difference in the 2 motors is GX has smaller turbos based on my research. Regardless I’m hopeful it won’t suffer same fate as the Tundra with the main bearing debris issues.
Agreed. They should’ve kept 3.5 n/a V6 for Land Cruiser at least. I already knew the 6th gen 4Runner wouldn’t have V6 anymore, but I think V6 would be more suitable for this Prado LC
Hey Blake, Thanks to you and Jon for the content - It's useful to have you guys swap vehicles and share thoughts - I personally prefer the looks and more in control/less vague driving feel of the Land Cruiser, and for me the significantly better gas milage is factor - I just wonder about how this new 4 cylinder hybrid engine will hold up over time (?) as I keep my vehicles - If I was convinced it would last like a 200 series, I'd get one tomorrow. I guess we shall see - thanks again to both of you.
Too bad Toyota fought EV so long they are now scrambling to catch up. ICE is for Dodos and turbos are higher maintenance. Hard pass. Rather have a Rivian.
Heck ya man! That was a fun comparison today!
Yes it was! Can’t wait to compare the 2 Cruisers on a few weeks.

Maybe! GX tows a lot more so chassis/suspension probably isn’t identical.

Too bad they don't make one with a naturally aspirated engine.
Thanks for your input Boomer. Now go back to bed.

I understand your viewpoint and thanks for watching!
Both great vehicles and choice will come down to personal taste and features that are most valued. Thanks for the review.
Thanks for watching!
I’d watch the drag race video in a heartbeat!!
Noted :)
The Lexus doesn’t have a digital mirror? Is that standard?
It doesn’t. LC does though I believe. It’s odd I know.
@@Why2k I wonder if they just didn’t have enough supply or something when built.
GX has the digital mirror only on the Luxury trim. So stupid they dont offer it on the OT, which was my deal breaker.
@@UporaFilms I got the first edition, just suited me better, didn’t need the extra towing ability and like the look of it better
@@rickper I agree, I like the look better too but the GX has more features for less money imo. But that digital rear mirror was a dealbreaker for me.
Hi Do you interested in adding some LED upgrade to your rig? We hope to do some sponsorship with you!
Thanks I now have crossed them both off my list
87 octane for LC?
Fuel door says premium. He’s trying 87 as we speak though.
You can’t even compare or even put the Prado in the same sentence as a LC200🤷♂️ Between the new Prado and GX, only would consider the GX.
Agree on 200 series being the GOAT and GX being my choice between the 250 Series Prados :)
why not? The Prado is more capable offroad compared to the 200. Also the GX is a Lexus Prado
