I've seen a few LC on the road locally, but yet to see a GX. I know a lot of the internet seems to gravitate towards GX, but wonder how the sales are actually playing out between them.

They both seem $10-15k overpriced to me. That was the issue with the previous Land Cruiser. Love both vehicles but I could never live with the mileage of the GX. Hoping there is a more efficient engine for 2025. Maybe the 2025 4Runner will be the way to go.
The 132lb weight limitation is specifically referring to placing items directly on the small lift-able board that has a storage cubby underneath. Not sure what the weight limitation is for the main platform above the batteries, but it’s definitely higher than 132lbs.
Really don't know why people stress over this. That weight limit is applicable only if all that weight goes only on the shelf, which would be difficult to do as it's only about 6" at the back. Someone could machine an aluminum block to divide that storage area and provide support for more weight capacity for the worrywarts. But what's the worst that could happen? It cracks so buy a new shelf so what.
If you told me that LC was $50k I’d shrug my shoulders and think ‘ok, I guess’ as it looks so cheap. But $73k? Nope. Not for something that looks like a bigger Honda Element.
I am for the Land Cruiser. I like the classic look and I am super stoked about the 2400w inverter with the hybrid. I know the Taco does it, but I don’t get why Tundra and Sequoia do not have it.

I’m with you. I drove the GX. It was a bit more quiet and definitely made for the ladies. Lexus folks wanted $4,000 more over MSRP. I got the Land Cruiser Premium package. Very happy. LC has toggles to easily adjust temperature etc. With the GX you have to go into the touch screen. I thought volume button was in odd place at first but now I like it there. MPGs are not where they are advertised. Noticed Toyota got those numbers from using 96 Octane- false advertising if you ask me. But happy overall!

Your Land Cruiser is a hybrid and the AC should be an electric system. the GX is going to be belt driven and while idling, the RPM is low to get the max compression out of the compressor.
Had to pickup a window trim piece for the 200. White we were there my wife looked at one of the 5 first editions on the lot 10k mark up and 5.5k dealer add ons (paint protection, 800 in mats etc). Yet I can get the gx550 overtrail at msrp. I don’t get it. Heck I can get a 37 package raptor below msrp
I'll take the Land Cruiser since it's its more "manly" and off road oriented image. GX is definitely better on road performance wise and nice for street cruising with a refined non outdoorsy image. It will never look as good as the Land Cruiser when lifted and outfitted with big tires.... just my preferences
No Toyota enthusiasts and customers are missing out. Should’ve done both engine options for LC. Needs more than looks to differentiate from 4R. LC and GX can be 90+% the same and that’s perfectly okay
You can get a Chevy Tahoe with the NA 6.2L V8 for what Toyota is asking for that LC with a turbo 4 banger, and the fuel economy isn’t even that much better 🤦🏻♂️
Down here in Central America and the Caribbean we get body colored paint matched bumpers and fenders. Also a different front grill for the upper spec luxury version. With white cream leather interior option

The lc prado was made for basic offroading while the GX is made for offroading in luxury..what i dont like is Hybrid and its painful to maintain as it will electrocute you...
I get why you’d compare top trim and top trim, but I think it’s fair to compare a premium plus at roughly $72k to the Land Cruiser. For $84k I might prefer the LC. But at a premium+ (and base overtrail) are so well equipped. It’s missing the massaging seats, cool box, the non functional moon roof (which makes no sense to me), real leather accents or whatever, some other stuff too. But still has so many nice features. I like the toggles and actual buttons better on the LC but the GX system is smooth and the digital layout works really well. Then of course the engine. Maybe not right or wrong, but I prefer the V6 twin turbo. Anyway, you compare premium+/base overtrail with the LC and I think it’s much more lopsided for the money.
I saw a GX at a dealership and it looked nice but when I saw Land cruiser, it looked old (not retro but just some 10-15 yr old model). This despite me liking the LC on screen. Now I know it was plastics all around that made it look less premium.

The Landcruiser is better looking than the GX both outside and inside. Additionally, the Landcruiser will age better and its resale value will hold SIGNIFICANTLY better than the Lexus. Plus the best part is the Landcruiser is not a Lexus.
Out of the two of them I actually prefer the Land Cruiser. This was after driving them both and Breaking down the aesthetic. But I bought neither of them, I rushed and picked up a 2023 for 60 brand new back in June, preferred it to both of these new ones

GX550 Overtrail, I love how plushly seats are, run like a butter, towing over 9k only overtrail or plus, custom drive mode you can pick options powertrain such as power, normal or eco same goes for both suspension and steering! The only downside I wished Toyota could have gone same arm rest as tundra and knee rest need to be slight longer from forward/back.
I bought the 550, just love the overall look, quality is way nicer in my opinion, better warranty, don't have to worry about the battery, the rear hitch cover looks proper, dislike the one on the Land cruiser. Also for a few extra bucks you drive a Lexus.
If this is your first Lexus suv you might think the interior is high quality. Any LX model owners and previous gen GX owners feel otherwise. Unless you enjoy plastic over leather…

All the plastics that you mentioned in Land Cruiser is better in my opinion. If you damage those plastics on the trail you can just replace them no painting needed.
Two things the GX 550 Overtrail+ disappointed me with were the lack of third row seat and the lack of a digital rear view mirror. If they add both of those onto the OT+ I will not hesitate to buy one.
I suspect those who want a great overlander they can add some mods to will gravitate to the LC250 for sure. I can't see many people buying the GX (even the Overtrail trim) to go dune bashing.
I am more drawn to the Land Cruiser, Especially with the 1st Ed headlights. I'm sure hood struts could be added if your really feeling that bummed about it. My biggest gripes are the rear seats, not being 100% flat , and doesnt line up with the height of the battery pack, and when folded, also the height seems significantly higher than our 5th gen. which is a problem when your short wife wants to get something out of the cooler, its darn near at her forehead.
I saw the land cruiser in person, when getting my 4 runner serviced. It looks good for sure. I am an engine guy so for my money it would have to be the Lexus. I am a base model guy . Get into the better car for the same money . Base model sr5 4 runner and g80 m3 . I could easily be driving a loaded rav 4 and 340i for the same money. My preference at the end of the day.

i wish they just stuck with the trusty old 4l v6 with the land cruiser or even the same turbo v6 as the gx.
Same turbo would be nice. A 4L in it would be a sloth to drive.

My biggest gripes are the rear seats, not being 100% flat , and doesnt line up with the height of the battery pack, and when folded, also the height seems significantly higher than our 5th gen. which is a problem when your short wife wants to get something out of the cooler, its darn near at her forehead.
I saw the land cruiser in person, when getting my 4 runner serviced. It looks good for sure. I am an engine guy so for my money it would have to be the Lexus. I am a base model guy . Get into the better car for the same money . Base model sr5 4 runner and g80 m3 . I could easily be driving a loaded rav 4 and 340i for the same money. My preference at the end of the day.

I do prefer the “off-roady” parts of the Land Cruiser. But the battery hump and no third row are kind of deal breakers. So it’s the GX for me.
