The snow flake is for the A/C. If you don't turn it on when you want it cold it won't engage the A/C compressor.
What if it doesn’t work and your car windows get moist
How many miles does it have now? How many miles did it have when you bought it? Other than the heating, any problems?
Thanks for your comment, Kevin. The car has 114k miles now, and it had 59k when I bought it. Prior to this one, I had another 2008 BMW 328i which I brought brand new and drove for about 80k miles. I then had a 2011 BMW 335i for a while. The heating has been the biggest issue with these cars. I had to chance an oil pan gasket on this car as well, which was pricey as well. I changed the bushings as well. I also had to replace a taillight and a tire pressure sensor. Other than that, all of the fixes have been regular maintenance and wear and tear items (brake pads, tires, spark plus, ignition coils, etc.). It’s a solid car.
My wife's e90 gets heat from front vents at first but then after some time it stops blowing from front vents. On the rear vents it blows hot air all the time, so the issue is only after some time on fronts. I am not sure how this works but it looks to me like there is maybe some thermostat that is not working correctly on front end. When the hot air stops blowing from the front vents, i just increase temperature and it starts blowing again and than after sometimes it stops again. It must be some thermostat issue cause with same temperature settings it is a lot more warmer in my x3 than in her e90. Also i must add i dont know is that normal, central console (cigarette lighter location ) is very very warm when touched.

When my heat was not working, I did not have warm air coming out of the front or the rear vents. Because you have warm air coming out of the rear vents all the time, it may be a different issue than the one I had with the heater core. Maybe it's the thermostat, or you may be able to fix the problem by flushing the system. I would definitely get a professional opinion on how to fix.

Found what was the problem. She upgraded her e90 with some multimedia system. Because the screen of the multimedia is big, the local electrician who was installing the multimedia , dropped all the way down climate controls. I did a bit a research on the internet and found that the interior temperature sensor is placed in the climate control unit. I all ready mentioned that part around the ashtray is very hot ( btw searching on the net it was common when rear vents are set on and on hot air) , so I figured that the climate controls with interior temp sensor is laying on that warmth. That way sensor was reading inaccurate temperature ( more than it really is in the car ) . Than i turned rear vents controls to cold and closed them. That way part around the ashtray wasn't getting hotter and voila . Problem solved , now we cant stand the heat coming from the front vents and it accurately holds chosen temperature on the climate controls

Sorry to hear about your all having the same issue. My mechanic quoted $2,000 but needed up doing it for about $1,500. Honestly, it is a lot of money, but it is money well spent. I am so glad I fixed the problem instead of getting a new car. It works great now. Best of luck and keep me posted on what you all decide to do.

Do you have any BMW independent car mechanics in your area? You could also take it to a BMW dealer, but it will be more expensive. I would not try to replace the heater core myself unless you are really good at fixing cars.
How much did it cost you. Becaise I tjink i need pne on my 2011 328ix
Around $1,500. Most of the quotes were for $2,000, but my mechanic buddy gave me a deal. Good luck!
The A icon is for automatic inside circulation and M on that same button is for manual inside circulation
The snowflake is AC on or not
Is it better to be use AC in winter, or just standard engine heater without an ac onon bmw e90?

I just put in on Auto, which results in the snowflake being on, and the heat works great now. When my heater core did not work, it didn't matter what I did. There was hardly any heat coming out.
@@GogoMotoring ok so it's not bad to have the AC going I guess; it removes moisture from the car.
The AC system has an electrically actuated pulley. It spins, but the system controls the actual on-off. I always keep the AC on and in Auto.

If you don't know what parts of your car do what, then maybe just take it to dealer. The icicle is the filter???? ;))))) It's the AC. The A with the circle is auto-recirculate. The AC is the little icicle. You should turn the AC off if you want heat bruh. I bet you changed a heater core for nothing. sorry the dealers just want your money not to educate you about what your car does. obviously you don't own the manual either, right? Or you'd know what each icon means??? Sorry if this is rude but omg, just OMG
I tried everything before fixing the heater core, and nothing worked. I played around with all the buttons, had the AC off and on, had the snowball icon on and off, etc. Literally, every scenario you can imagine with the buttons, I tried, and nothing fixed the heating issue. I took it to the dealer and independent mechanics, all of which confirmed that it was the heater core. Once I replaced the heater core, the heat started working in the car like it did in my previous E90s that did not have this issue. The heater core needed to be replaced. I decided to make a longer video because when I was having this issue, there was so much conflicting information on the forums, it was difficult to get to the bottom of the issue. This video is really wrong because the steering wheel does not need too come out. Just change your thermostat or compressor. 🤦🏽♂️.
No, you're wrong, buddy. The heater core needed to be changed. And the only way to do it is by removing the steering wheel and the front dashboard. Don't take my word for it. Take the word of certified BMW mechanics. The thermostat or the compressor will not fix the issue.
