I got given this for Christmas 2022 (wish my wife had picked one for a 4 year old) and just started it this afternoon. After a couple of hours I had to give up as I couldn't work out from the instructions how a few bits went together and my patience was getting exhausted. This video has put me right and I'll now give it another go. I'll also take more care with the waxing as it looks important.

Its very tricky in parts and Ive broken a tiny bit off one of the globe struts, it should be ok though.
I occasionally break a piece as well. Sometime a duplicate is included if not I will glue the piece back together the best I can. Good luck.

This was okay to build had some annoying parts and then I have to manually rotate as the wire blocked the hole even though in earlier steps it wasn't... Also had to sellotape the map parts down, those could have been thought out better. THanks for the video though couldn't have got past some parts without it. It looks good and the magnifying works which is the main thing as manual rotation isn't the end of the world!

After completing everything LED is not working 😭😭😭. Please help what to do. Do I fit extra LED on it!
Lets start with quick and easy things to check first. Does the USB power supply work? Is the switch turned on? Is the USB cable good? I am sure you have already checked these but I had to ask. Next, Check the ends of the wire are installed in the proper orientation because polarity matters with LEDS. That is not easy to check. Check that the wire is not broken. Again not easy to check. By chance did you do any testing as you went along? The instructions did not indicate that you should test the lights.

But it is really hard to detach everything and checking from the beginning. Because the wiring attachment step comes in the beginning itself. Anyway it was a disappointment for me. 😢😢

Thanks for this. Well done. Is wood glue or any other adhesive a strict no no with this puzzle? I recently put together a working trebuchet puzzle/model made from the same type of plywood and I glued everything. Any thoughts would be appreciated.
I have used glue on pieces that have broken, or pieces that just won't stay together. Some puzzles require glue. I general don't glue mine, sometime I will get a question that prompts me to disassemble a portion of my puzzle to give the best possible advice. I don't think there is any thing wrong with gluing parts that aren't supposed to move.
It certainly didn’t take my son and me 2 hours, even with this video, more like 20 as I had to backtrack a fair few times as the printed instructions are mediocre. Had fun at least.
I suggest using one of the shorter leftover metal rods and caps at the bottom side to thread through the aligned holes to hold the two main parts of the base and the shaft in place. Frankly, it’s puzzling how many parts are left over.
There are a lot of left over pieces. I am glad there are. I have had to use the spare pieces when I have broken some pieces. This took me about 4-5 hours to build. I generaly remove the part where I am snapping out pieces from the plywood sheet. I like your suggestion as well.

Great video. Has anyone had any issues trying to get the plastic sleeves to go down the rods? I’m having a lot of trouble as they don’t seem to slide beyond getting them on the ends

They are hard to get on. As you see in the video I had to use a spare piece of wood. You could try placing the piece of plastic in hot water for a short time, this should cause it to expand slightly. Completely dry it with a towel then try installing it.

In general it takes about twice as long to build as the length of the video.
My proud made me try to not watch this. Sadly for two specefic situations i reslly did have to check. I am happy and grateful for this instructive video! Its a beautiful piece and its so much fun to make

When i purchased, i saw its demo in the shop, the globe was rotating by itself, but after making it, the globe is not rotating by itself. we have to manually rotate it
The one I purchased is manually operated as well.
Hey, i saw this yesterday on a fair , the guy built a motor inside so its moving when conected to electricity, do you have any idea how he did that ?
I would image a small motor could be fassioned into the base. It might require more power that the USB port can provide.
Hi, Just started this model, and it looks like it should be great, just noticed something on your video, when fitting the light unit to part A7, I noticed you fitted it the opposite way up to the instructions with the kit.
Now I don't know which way to fit it, anyone got any answers please?
My advice would be to follow the instructions. I try to make as few mistakes as possible but I still make them.

I finally get everything set up and realized the remind wax was missing, turns out it was shipped without the piece and I have no idea what to do now
Candle wax can be used on the gears you see. I would try that before taking it apart.
Just finished mine the moving parts are so stiff! I waxed it but they don't seem to turn properly. :(
In general, it will get better as the wax is distributed.

Almost completed it.. But light don't work so may have sauce my own usb strip light some how either inside or on the outside
This is a difficult one to try and fix. Since the leds are installed so early in the process.
@@rgauck it's actually better with the with led lights as probably brighter and I have a choice of lights now... Only issue is I can't turn the globe due to the cable sticking out... But will either get a battery led and just take it out when need to change the battery's

Glue is not included with it and I don't remember using glue. That being said I will use glue if I break a part.
Great video! I’m about to start building the globe. It’s good to have the visual as you provided. Yours is probably the best one. Others offer so much unnecessary commentary which I found a bit annoying.
The instructions say that due to customs policy the glue may not be included, and it is not. I’ve only seen 30 minutes of your video but it appears the glue is not needed, or is it?
I looked at the instructions and I do not see where glue is included or needed.

Is it possible to glue the map parts in as the ends just won't stop in and keep popping out

@@rgauck the map parts seem to stay in now and glad I didn't glue all of the map as need to opem the top part to get my led light in....but one the g7 pieces underneath the base kept dropping so I thought it was too lose and glued it, turned out to be a part of the turning mechanism for the main cog in the base so had to turn it until it snapped and I can still turn the globe when those little cogs on the side don't wobble lose (if too tight it won't move)
What is the difficulty of the globe because some parts look stubborn. Would be a Christmas present suggestion.
The most difficult part was placing the translucent strips on the outside of the globe, It takes some patience. I think it would be a good gift for someone that has some patience and attention to detail.

I was ok with the Translucent pieces but I can’t get the two round pieces to stay around the globe

I messed up on one of the earliest stages, so I have to re do it ?
That depends on which step it is. Which piece is the issue?
I was doing great with assembling this, until I came to where you insert the pin (P9) through the two “shoes” D8 and D9, and through D4 and D5. Either the holes are too large, or the pins too narrow, because the pins shoot straight through. I did use the right pins (compared to 1:1 pic on the instruction sheet). I couldn’t understand why the sheet said to use the B7 tool to push it in. Makes the next part of the assembly impossible, the pins just plop through and all the little D7 spacers fly everywhere. I presume the other D4 and D5, etc for the opposite side will not fit either. My only option is to jury rig some thicker pin.
I went back and looked at some of the original footage. The P9 should be a snug fit in the D5's. The D5's are at each end of the P5. If the P9 does not seem to fit properly into the D5's you may be able to get parts from here. www.robotimeonline.com/pages/part-replacement
@rgauck Thanks, very nice of you to reply. I resorted to trying a tiny piece of tape, That did make it snug for D5, but the smaller hubs/spacers were also lose, and they kept flying. I will definitely take your suggestion. Appreciate it!

I use the wax provided in the box. However, should that run out I would get some uncolored candle wax.

I didn't realise that the thing came with wax and fit pretty much the whole thing without it

@@rgauck I'm not sure if I put it together wrong or if it's because of me forgetting to wax but one of the gear parts ends up pushing the gear away from it and I have to manually push it back to get it to work
