Let know how it goes for you. I put this clock together last week, and it only works for about 10 to 15 minutes each time I try to start it, and then it stops.
@@tamerlanechessclub3652 i finished it a few days ago. Unfortunately I can only get it to run for around a minute. Thoroughly enjoyed putting it together. Looks stunning, but alas it seems that it simply doesn't function.
@@paulsalmon1625 I replaced the weight with 2 full water bottles [for a total of about 1000 gm weight, which is a bit more than recommended], and after I did that it ran for about 90 minutes. But alas, it still stops. I'm afraid it will break if I try to add more weight to it. I am going to keep monkeying with it. Putting together was a lot of fun, despite the fact that my thumbs were sore from pushing in all those tiny pieces :)
I have a "Grand Father clock" with a cabinet that has broken down and no longer works. It has the same pull down mechanism. I have been looking for a wall clock to replace it. I know I have to pull it every 12 hours (twice a day) but that is o.k. I was so impressed by this video that I bought one and it is on its way. Can't wait to receive and build it . Thank you WOODEN.CITY making such a wonderful clock. I know I will enjoy building, as I build models as a hobby and will take great pleasure it tuning and adjusting it to make it as accurate as I can.
There are a few problems with this model. Let's think about it: 550-800 gramms. My country has large coins so that's not an option. But we have Euro, as well. So 600 gramms = 71-150 coins with Euros. That's a lot of coins. Even if you manage somehow this problem with weights the next is that the cord isn't strong enough in the long term. And there's the pendulum. It just blocks everything even if you check everything 100 times. The clock looks good, the wood's quality isn't the best (I didn't break anything but that's just because I'm good with those things), you don't get a full candle jut a really small wax which is enough for.... nothing. It really looks good but if it isn't working... not worth it.
I doubt I have the dexterity to do this, but that is not going to stop me trying. Excellent video. Thanks for sharing.

I like the kit, look forward to assemble it, but I'm at a point to get the carve data to model from 3d or laser or CNC. Max points on guide book for construction. Not sure how much it costs but just from this review easily worth it. Will tease others about coloring (paint/finish). Thanks for sharing.
While the instructions were explanatory - when you get to the part of the string being threaded into the two holes and how they were wound, and inserted into the other gear, that was NOT explained AT ALL!!! And it did not show where the pendulum was supposed to be - the picture was evasive! I have been wracking my brain out as to why I could not get the clock to work - I found this video AFTER I have put the clock together. And it is a gorgeous clock - and right now it is a dust collector. I would like to know about returning the one I have and get another one. I enjoyed putting it together - even the very little pieces that were very hard to put where they needed to go. There was one piece that cracked in half that goes in the middle of the pendulum bottom. I was able to glue it together to the other parts, even if it was not supposed to be glued. there were some other small pieces that broke as well - and I was very careful when taking them out - it is not as easy as this person showed - AGAIN!!!! It is not as easy as this person showed it to be. My hands are not that great - and they were cramping after I assembled it. Yes - I want a replacement of the clock!

Fantastic. One question, how about if I was to color the various pieces with the appropriate metallic spray paint? For instance, bronze, silver and gold?

after 3 cuts, I threw everything in the trash, the wood is too dry, and cannot be detached, too bad, probably a selection error in the plates

How long does it run on one wind? Are there any videos on youtube of this running that aren't from woodencity? I'm very suspicious of this running at all with those crappy toothpick axles and no bearings at all.
If I use € , at 7.5gm per €1 coin, it will take €68 ! That means a stack 16.8 cm long. The weight has an internal height of just 13.8 cm, so they will not fit - and that is for the minimum weight of 550 gm.
I have tried wet sand (in clingfilm), £1 coins, even lead type, but cannot get it to anywhere near 550 g. Has anyone managed this? What did you use?

A long time as my does not tick or tock its a good kit easy to assemble but alas no tick or tick if anyone has any idea how it tocks oreven tick share it with us on here as we are running out of tick tick I had more luck with my cuckoo clocks timed it right which was a job to hit it when it came out lol now the cuckoo looks 😊out before coming showing its self lol I used 2p coins for weight but how many im not sure so any ideas welcome cheers james west sussex uk

I have assembled this clock very carefully...but no matter what I do, the winding gear with the threads WILL NOT MOVE. I didn't make it to be a piece of static furniture..I want it to work! I have contacted the company...I'm hoping they will come back with a reply. Very frustrating, after getting such pleasure from assembling it.

Does anyone know how to get this clock to work? I thought I followed all the directions carefully and it won't work. When I was done I was pushing on things and something clicked into place and it was working like a pendulum clock. Then I got the strings tangled in the rewind part and had to take it apart. Since I do not know what clicked into place to make it work I can not repeat it. If anyone knows the secret please help. I sent a message to the company but no response. Thanks in advance

builder was a street junkie from the alleyway; cheapest labor available. What's you're excuse?
Each time he stops, he is reading the instructions, and given the change in light the video was filmed over several days. When building something this intricate, you take your time (no pun intended). And I don't about you, mate, but the rest of us have jobs, families, food and sleep to slot into each day.

Somehow I don't think so, as this is the beauty of such a time piece, it is timeless (pardon the pun). 50 years from now it will still be a thing of beauty and probably keep good time....perhaps even be a collectable item, who knows?
Need some concrete blocks to make this crap running, I did every thing, 3 times rebuild, I know the plan, l know all the steps, this thing makes no sense. It is not possible to make this thing running.
