Story Summary :-
OP’s finally fulfilled his and his wife’s dream: to have a place they can call ‘theirs,’ but the victory won’t last too long, since his in-laws invaded the place without hesitation. Although the house is big enough to have all of them, when it comes to daily life, it’s all chaos. The elders are a very conservative and invasive couple, and they slowly transform the house into a place for them, rather than for the actual owners. OP and his wife experienced peace of mind when the elders took a small weekend to one of their sons’ houses, so they got an idea that was put into fruition months later. They would take advantage of a small vacation the in-laws would have to sell the house and move all the things into a new apartment, not telling the elders. Now the old couple has a charge of illegal trespassing, believing that the house is still theirs (not even recognizing it as OP and his wife’s place,) while OP and wife are secure in their new home.

I am going on 75 and have my own little 2 bedroom house that I love. I flat out refuse to live with my kids even though they wanted me too. I dont sleep much and like to rattle around making a coffee at all ungodly hours of the night and being a little hard of hearing I have the volume up quite high on my computer. Have the music blasting and play games for hours. I am not going to have snot noses telling me to be quiet and go to bed so they can sleep. I am perfectly happy as I am and have a housekeeper come in and do the heavy work for me Perfect.

They tried everything to get them out. They were told to leave and even tried to legally evict them, but the courts would not help and they just straight up refused to leave. In hindsight they should have pushed them out and locked the doors the day they barged in to move in.

Frankly as soon as they walked through the front door with their things I’d have called cops and asked they be trespassed. Once they are in the home it’s a nightmare even with the legal system
People are too soft these days .. sometimes you have to go this far for you own piece of mind.
Why didnt they just take the parents old house and refuse to pY the bills on the new one? Tell them youre going to do that. Watch them chamber back home. Lol.

I think it was funny. Getting people evicted from your house is DIFFICULT, even with the legal documents. I've actually been thinking about selling my own house for the same reason.

Actually friends had next door neighbors that were renters of that house. They ended up not paying rent to the landlord. The final choice after trying many legal means, they sold the house so new owner could use stronger legal actions, that WORKED.
It is also possible to return to person or company you bought house from and sell back to them long enough to evict under new owner laws and automatic rights to remodel or do major repairs on house! I know very rich landlords who every time they buy a house they give a 35 day eviction notice! then put up a chain link fence with locks around all of property! Next day have a construction crew remove every door and some windows from the house taking away for repair! Said problem ones they repair water lines! He told me 100% success rate!

I have a feeling that if OP and his wife told her parents about the sale the parents would just sabotage the sale. What they did was probably the best thing that they could have done given the situation at hand.

why didn't they just change the locks the first time they went out? i would have called the cops about crazy people trying to break into my house! or you could drive them out by walking around naked, having parties several times a week with VERY LOUD music, get a couple of very big harry dogs and some cats since they don't like them. get a few reptiles too! maybe set some mice loose in their room, turn on the hot water full blast when they get in the shower, invite over a bunch of biker types with lots of tattoos, have them sit right next to granny, the possibilities are endless, use your imagination!! also, take the remote to the tv or just take the tv to your room, lol...

The wife was the one who originally left them in. by the time they were in they were able to sink their hooks in and even the law wasn't able to pry them loose

You take their car keys and permanently keep them on your person so they don’t block u from leaving. Then u physically pack their crap and throw it in said car. Change the locks and never answer the door

It sounded from the story that they tried going the legal way to have them removed but that them being older gave the inlaws more power to not get removed which I don't get cause they just invited themselves there in the first place. Also from the beginning the daughter n son law should have laid down the law n told them they are in our home so they don't get to tell us what to do. They gave them too much space n allowed them to run over them so a lot is their own fault. My stepson tried that in my home and it didn't go very well for him. Eventually hE left.

They did ask them to leave but refused they even got an eviction notice and they still wouldn’t move they should gotten together in the beginning and stood there ground and say no but still might not listen so they did good in the long run congrats on the baby❤❤❤!
Found out an Executive refrigerator is actually like the American double wide commercial two/three/four door refrigerator and giant freezer all in one! In Japan they just mean the largest and most expensive !

This is so dumb. I threw out relatives who showed up begging to stay for 2 weeks until their apartment became available. 2 weeks came and they didn't know when they would get an apartment. I know if you allow someone to stay in your home for 30 days or more, you will have to go to court to get them out. I called the cops and told them my unwanted guests had come for 2 weeks and would not leave because their time was up. They were told to gather their things and leave while the police waited for them to pack. I don't care where they went but I haven't heard from them again.
What i dont get about this story is how the courts would not allow Op to kick the in laws from his house. They own a home that is presumably their legal primary residence. If they showed that the place was in good condition through pictures and showed ownership through a deed, why would the courts force OP to keep parents in their house? I can see a court hesitating if in laws had no where to go but it would be easy to prove that they would not be homeless if kicked out of Op's house.🤔🤔🤔
I think OP and his wife did tell them that they wanted yhem to leave and they refused. Parents even tried to get wife to sign papers putting the house in their name. Good luck OP and family. 😻😁😻
Trying to trick their daughter into signing OPs property over to them was the biggest red flag and sign that they knew they were in the wrong

These stories if true must be from a country other than the US. I am glad that we don't live with our in laws. From my perspective, why not put them out? They have a home. When they left the first time, they could have changed the locks, and moved the in laws stuff back to their home.
Manipulative parents are world wide. Think of all the previous things done before they even got to this point. 😪 Yet we, the children are always asked "to be the bigger person". 🖕that, I'm done. At 19yo, I moved from NY to TX to put as much space between us. 60's now & didn't go to her martyr funeral.

Sometimes I think these stories are so long that people forget what was said earlier in the story. They did tell them what they wanted. OP said they weren't wanted there and the FIL said he wouldn't be thrown out of his own home. It's not his home! I still don't understand why they kept paying for the upkeep of their own home when they had moved in with OP.
Yeah that wasn't until the third or fourth update that he said that. If op had grown some balls at the very beginning and said "No you are not moving in with us go back to your own home" it would have ended this whole thing before it started. People forget you don't owe anyone anything not even basic hospitality especially when they've already made it known they don't like you.

My mother used to say that it's easy to get people into your house, but it's hard as Hell to get them out.

I know they're Jackie's parents, but I don't understand why she can't say no and stand by him. Let her grow up enough to stand up to her parents, please God. Her parents are not good people. Who ran their marriage for them? Why should they run yours? If you and Jackie stand as a united front then you will have a better life.
Some people just can't deal with confrontation. I'm like this until I reach critical mass, then there are no holds barred! This was just a safe way for them to plan and execute getting rid of these nasty problem people. It has to be hard for a child, being raised by such people, to go up against them! What the newlyweds did was nothing short of what you'd see from Revenge Films,

They told them they wanted them to move out , OP in-laws simply did not listen. They were hurting their daughters marriage. They deserve to come back to house that was sold. I just feel sorry for the people who moved in.

It's not just because they are older that the courts hesitate to evict these people from a home that is not even theirs. In the UK (they use the term 'geezer' and that is very common in many places in England and Wales,) it is sometimes very hard to evict squatters through the courts, even drug addicts, homeless people who are just that by choice and by then they will have done significant damage to your home, just out of spite. Anything nice you have there, no matter how hard you have worked to achieve it, is often attacked, out of spite. Vandalized, stolen and broken apart for parts to sell, so they can buy drugs and alcohol. Breaking apart your furniture so they can set in on fire in the fireplace. And the property market is biased in favour of the tenant. It is part of the reason a family member of mine got out of the property market in the UK. His agents, who he paid to run and supervise the property often told him what he 'had' to do for the tenants, not legally or even just to keep them happier, but because 'he had to, that is the way things are done.' He reminded them on more than one occasion that he was aware of what he had to provide by law, what he felt was his obligation to do as a good landlord that was not even legally compulsory, but if they kept coming up with frivolous things he 'had to do' for the tenant, then he'd see if the tenant was willing to pay their salary and continue to employ them when he lost his temper and fired them. It did not shut them up for long. The death knoll came when the laws changed regarding inheritance and how the government would in future (now a reality) tax it. After being taxed on so many things, now hard working class people in the later stages of their lives had to now contend with the government's new ideas about what would happen to their estate, if they died, despite what their will stated. Property, bank accounts, collectors items, vehicles, any other belongings of the deceased would now be assessed to ascertain value and before the family members could inherit anything, they have to pay up to 40% of the value of the estate, to the government. In advance, as well! You could not sell any of the estate in order to come up with this figure; it had to be paid, before any of the estate could be distributed in accordance to the decedent's wishes. The government of the country has become so corrupt that it is rifling through the pockets and coffins of dead people, who have worked hard and faithfully paid the MANY taxes they are obliged to, their whole lives, while their widows/widowers are sometimes without any money to survive, waiting for the estate to come to them, so they can feed themselves. This is the reason I could never see my future in a country run by such corrupt parasites.

I guess in a situation like that they should probably have it to wear. they ship all of their riches into a separate country before they die, then have it to where the deed is red in those separate countries with laws that actually are not draconian
People could probably get around that by giving the stuff to the person they want it to go to before they die. I know this won't always work but those with close families and friends could probably pull it off. In America people have done similar things to prevent a black sheep family member from contesting the will.

I have to admit, as always being a low income person, after losing my last job, I currently don’t have any income, until SS kicks in during December. I am so fortunate that my older sister invited me to live with her, taking me in when I needed her. I’m 66, and she is 73. She owns a house, and we are working to pay it off. But, I believe, even though my kids don’t know this, with them struggling to make their way in their world, I certainly do not expect them to pay my way. Sure, I took care of them while they were growing up, but that was my responsibility. They didn’t ask to be born, and, personally, I don’t automatically expect them to take care of me. Wherever I end up, it’s my own responsibility, and not theirs.
As, I said, they don’t know I feel this way, and they do what they can to help, installing security equipment, researching what car we should buy, etc. To me, they have a right to live their best life, which is the best gift I may give them.
Assuming this actually happened, when the in-laws went on vacation why not just pack up their crap and change the locks?
they already said why they couldn't just change the locks. they tried to go through legal court measures to get them kicked out and apparently the law sided with the parents because they were old. the only thing they have left was to sell it so it wasn't theirs anymore and thus the parents had no right to it
The fact that the parents were trying to legally stay in ops house is crazy! I would have just put them out and called police but glad they got a fresh start and got away from them.

Why are some individuals so weak and spineless? If my parents ever attempted to do that to me, I would have instantly called the police! Sorry, parents or not, NO ONE could infringe on me and my home like that in a one year! They should have packed up their belongings and took them back to their house and let them know, NO WAY can you force themselves on me and my property! The second they arrived assuming they were moving in he should have called the police. In some states there is a time limit that people can be removed from an owner's house.

Sometimes, the plan to get rid of overbearing houseguests takes extreme measures. Especially AFTER telling the unwanted house"guests" to move back to their own place. OP did the right thing, because Peace is a commodity that has no pricetag.

As soon as they said that they wanted to move on I would've told them hell no. It's my home and I worked hard for it and your sure as hell won't impose yourself in it. No way in hell that they would come in and disrupt my home especially since they have their own. As soon as they pulled up I would've told them oh hell no you're not moving in here so take yourself back to your home this is my home and you don't rule anything here also just because you're old you don't get a pass!!!!

My parents and in laws when they come to our rented house, they don't order us to obey them. They think they are just our guest. They stay for a few days and don't do anything absurd.
To be honest sometimes it doesn’t work when you ask a long term visitor to leave. It causes major friction with in the family.Even if you ask to help visitor/ find a place to call their own they will often refuse because of a feeling of belonging. Often it does take a betrayal of sorts to get them to leave. In our case the hurt feelings lasted the remaining days of the visitors life.Sometimes drastic measures are necessary to find peace.
Your wife doesn't owe her parents anything so since they had the nerve to sell their home then they can either go to a nursing home or fend for themselves because you need your own space

Tell me why is it as soon as you get married that you have to take care of your parents? They still have plenty of time ahead of them to live without children in it. My parents said that they were happy when I moved out and got married because they could do whatever they wanted and didn’t have to worry about me anymore.

They are far too worried about nonsense like 'violating their human rights.' It is absolutely ridiculous, but the courts would not do anything that may lead public outcry and a possible lawsuit.

They did tell them exactly what they wanted. The in laws refused to leave.

One observation that I haven’t seen mentioned yet (maybe further down in the comments section) is the fact that OP had to watch his wife CONTINUE to be abused by her awful parents. OP’s wife just fell right back into step with her role which was the norm within their dysfunctional family unit: cooking, cleaning, taking care of everything and catering to their every wish.
I’m pretty sure that OP’s wife probably thought when she got married and moved out from her parents’ home that she was finally free from them. Imagine how horrified she must’ve been when they just rudely bullied their way into the dream home she’d worked so hard for alongside her husband.Insane!😮
I’m so glad OP stood up for his wife, but really wish they’d never given the house keys to them in the first place and/or called the police to trespass them when they first showed up with all their stuff.
I know they were trying to keep the peace and work with them, but now I think they did it because they were so used to their daughter being their personal servant, as that was the lifestyle they’d become accustomed, they felt ultra entitled to move in, take over her space and freeload.

This was hilarious. Yes they dodge a bullet on this one. If they didn't do this they are very persistent and bossy in-laws even laying out the reasons the inlaws weren't going to listen. I mean after trying to evict them through the legal system and they intentionally tried to get the deed signed over to them. They definitely didn't take it far enough to ditch them. I've dealt with people like this and I don't accept no favors or borrow anything or offer money for anything. I don't flash my money and dress poor. So I do not become a target with keeping little interactions with people.
Day 1 get the car towed and the police arrest tresspassers

Wants the legal system failed to removed the parents out of the house. They had to come up with a better way to get their lives back on track as a couple. Even it was to sell the house to have them trespassing on the new owners. Her parents done it on their own inviting themselves to stay at their daughters home. When neither one could have stop it.

Did they not hear the entire story? It seems like they tried talking to them multiple times and the in-laws wouldn't listen. Sounds like they didn't even contribute to the house hold...nit even monetarily.
You can't "explain" or "talk" to people like that. I know because my family is the same way. They are so narcissistic that they will word play their way into blaming someone else for their bad choices.
