Op is a successful sales executive, and she has been eyeing a particular luxury car for years. Not only was it one of her personal aspirations, but this vehicle also held significant professional value. Driving such a high-end vehicle would help her portray a successful image, which could influence her clients and boost her career, which is something that she has always wanted for herself.
Op has always been supportive of her family, especially her younger sister Chelsea, who is a single mother who has been struggling with her finances. OP has been helping her with rent payments and other necessities without expecting anything in return. She saw it as a way to help her nephew have a stable and secure upbringing.
When OP was finally about to purchase her dream luxury car, Her sister instead proposes a different use for Op’s hard-earned money. She suggests that OP invest in her nephew's college fund instead. Op’s sister argued that families should prioritize each other's needs, and her son's education was a crucial need.
The OP then feels torn. She cares deeply for her nephew and wants him to have a prosperous future. However, she also believes in her right to reap the benefits of her hard work and to make her own financial decisions. An Aunt is not required or obligated to save for a nephews college! OP is already being fleeced by her sister.
I have helped my nieces and nephew when needed! But, it is my discretion. Never demanded! This ‘mother’ is disgusting, thank goodness she was found out! But, seriously the Aunt should have figured out she was being played long before.
I have so many nephews, nieces, great-nephews, great-nieces and even two great-great-nephews - if an uncle, great-uncle and great-great-uncle is, by OP’s sister’s logic, required almost legally or morally to fund their siblings' offspring and their offspring, I would need to be working every hour that God sends to fund their lifestyle!
As to OP paying for her sister’s rent, she should have dealt with the landlord directly - if OP’s paying for her sister’s rent, then she should pay the landlord, thereby ensuring that it’s going towards the rent - not expensive clothes and stuff!

It's so sad in America where you can take an unwanted dog to the Humane Society, but you're stuck raising a kid no one wants instead of going out on dates with random men and making more babies. Do you seriously think the dad is any better off than the mom? It usually takes 2 or more dumb people to make a baby. Student loans aren't the end of the world, you can rack them up as high as you want on a Liberal Arts Degree and then ask uncle Joe to pay it off for you. I see this all the time. Personally I think buying luxury brands is pointless and an actual waste of money. At the same time people who work and make the kind of money and can afford those things comfortably have every right to purchase them. My step brother and his wife are the example of people who can't afford them and only purchase these things for vanity sake. My step brother had bought a 380k house and 6 months later got into a massive car accident where he lost the bone that connects to the pinky toe on his right foot. He was out of work for 9months and my dad covered his 2k a month mortgage for 5 of the 9 months. After a few days from the date my dad had made the 5th payment we started getting alerts from social media. Here they had left and taken a 2 week vacation at a resort in the Dominican Republic. When they got confronted about it the deflected and said it was pre-planned. Well my step sister found out they planned the trip after the second payment my dad made.
