    Story :-
Op is in his final year of their college and he was living a relatively normal life while making the most out of his education. Op was living with his mother and his stepfather who had just recently married his mother. Op has a complicated strained relationship with his stepfather but has managed to have a civil with him for his mother's sake.
His stepdad is a man who values money and status above everything. Therefore, he views Op’s aspirations to become a social worker as a waste of potential and resources. He firmly believes that the considerable college fund left for Op by his late father should be spent on something more "profitable". Despite the constant disagreements, Op never imagined that his stepfather would go to the lengths that he eventually did.
One day, Op finds out that his stepfather did the unimaginable. He managed to cancel Op’s college fund, claiming that it was a tough love lesson to teach Op the value of money. The move was calculated and cunning, Op’s step-father was confident that without the fund, Op wouldn't be able to afford the hefty college fees and would be forced to drop out thus failing to complete his education.
However, unknown to his stepfather, Op was more resourceful than he gave them credit for. To survive, Op took up more hours at his part-time job and scholarships, while maintaining a respectable grade point average. Against all odds, Op manages to pay off his college fees, which surprises everyone, especially his step-father.
In the middle of his struggle, Op discovers a secret about his step-father, turns out his step-father had not used the college fund for "more profitable" ventures, as he had claimed he would. He had squandered it on gambling and was now neck-deep in debt. In the desperate hope of recovery, he had risked Op’s future.
After successfully graduating, Op lands a well-paying job thanks to his exceptional grades and determination. With his first salary, he decides to pay off a portion of his stepfather’s debts, thereby saving him from bankruptcy but also exposing his lies and deceit to Op’s mother. This act was not one of kindness but a calculated move of revenge, because Op wanted his step-father to suffer the consequences of his actions. In this dramatic reveal, Op’s mother finally sees her husband for who he was and decides to leave him because of his deceit and treachery.

Op,s mother was in affair fog and was high functioning asthmatic with asbergers syndrome. Her toxic autism prevented her from having codependency with her new husband. Narcissistic tendencies are rampant in the family dynamics.

How did he have control over the trust fund if they weren’t married with community property? That should be the moms and the sons only, so that has me scratching my head.

Op should have told his mother and never ever give a a gambler addicted person money. It would have better been given to this mom to help with the divorce and hiring an attorney to punish his step dad for the theft of his trust fund.

I’m wondering if the step-father used that check for gambling or his depts. Interesting. He could have been sued for the trust fund misappropriation. ?

Spending his stepson's trust fund on GAMBLING, while denying the young man a college degree...Does the word "EMBEZZLEMENT" come to mind? If the state prosecutor's office gets wind of this, possible bankruptcy would be the LEAST of the crook's problems.

OP says he didn't expose richard as he didn't want his mother to go thru heartbreak. But then he exposes him and she goes thru heartbreak anyway. All that changed was that he couldn't salvage any of the trust fund which might have been possible if he acted sooner. His mother is the one that gave the mofo control of it.

bro let his stepdad piss away his entire trust fund when he could have prevented it months in advance. Really hard to say who was the bigger dunce in this story.

So, a top-of-the-class college student does not mention a felony theft to neither his mother or police at a point where it could have been prevented, and opted to instead spend more money to reward the thief for his theft.
    This is creative writing.

Op is a fool for waiting so long to tell his mom. They should have told his mom from the start. Also I question where op lives as a social worker making that much money. This feels exaggerated in alot of areas.
Because they had their own finances are why the mom never knew what happened. I can bet Richard had his mind set on that money from the first time he heard about it.
Also something that doesn't make sense is why Richard didn't act nicer when op could expose them at any minute. The mom should be mad at op for not telling her sooner.

I think op went about this wrong 1st he should have told his mother about the trust fund being taken away then he should have told about the gambling because this man could have ruined his mother’s financial security with him not knowing about the marriage debt not being shared. I don’t care about revenge I would have protected my mom immediately when I found this stuff out.

Um if op's dad left it for op, it doesn't matter even the mom couldn't touch if he left it only for op, so op should have called the cops on the stepdad right then and there, let alone wait because he could have been stealing from the mom too.

  • @daviddennison1025

There was no revenge in this. Op should have got his trust fund back. That money was from his father and his mother should have gave that back because she gave her husband control. I cannot understand how he was fine to let it go.

Why would he not tell his mother that stepdad wasn't paying his school fees? Mom needs to wake up, anyway. Not sure why Richard didn't take the money....he sure didn't have any problem taking the trustfund money.

The first thing OP should have done was call his mom. The second thing he should done contact a lawyer. He misappropriated the founds. His actions were illegal.
When he found out the whole story, he should have confronted Richard. By saying nothing Richard was able to continue his illegal behavior, driving Richard deeper in debt and putting his mother at risk. She was partially at fault for letting Richard access to the OP's college funds.

  • @joybernard7359

Why did you give him the cheque? Once he refused it and you knew your mom would not be on the hook for his debt, I would have ripped it up!
