Story Summary :-
Op and her SIL do not get along, mainly because of how her SIL treats her. Op’s mom finds her SIL more likable than Op. So when her SIL Jean makes a creepy comment when she is pregnant, OP decides to protect her kids at all costs. Since she is having twins, Jean suggests that Op give one of them up to her. Op refuses and is enraged. When she gives birth, she does not invite Jean to the baby's welcoming party. In retaliation Jean gets Op’s mother to exclude her from all family events. This goes on for a ridiculous amount of time until OP has enough. She gatecrashes her parents’ anniversary which leads to a fight. Op gets hurt in the fight and decides that she will cut off her family financially. She and her brother used to pay their parents’ bills, but OP cuts them off. Months later, OP is happier without them. Her parents contact her after they cannot find Jean and her husband for three days. It is revealed after they had a fight and he found out that she lied about her ability to get pregnant. She attacked him and he landed in the hospital while she was arrested. Op notifies Jean’s sister who is an old friend then excludes herself from the drama.

I'm all for teaching kids self reliance and responsibility but expecting ones kids to pay for your vacations and boutique shopping is ridiculous. It's ridiculous how many parents believe that their kids owe them something for being alive. They never asked to be brought into this world, and in many cases, living can even cause suffering and anguish. Yes, having a child was expensive, but it was the parents idea to have and raise a child and nobody else's. Putting clothes on your baby's back, food in their belly, and a roof over their head is the bare minimum requirement of parenting. Lest CPS comes knocking on your door. Parents are not doing their kids any favors by fulfilling legal requirements.

This happened to my mother. It was terrible because she had waited almost 10 years to have a child successfully. When she had the second child an Aunt who couldn’t have a baby asked if she could have the next one. My mom laughed thinking she would never be able to have another but she did and was terrified she would try to take the baby.
When an evil vile toxic violent psychopath turns your whole family against you with lies, it takes extreme measures to counter them: They play games and 'talking to them' will only escalate their horrible behavior. Moreover, once members of the family turn against you because of this outsider, they are very often so corrupted that there is nothing left but to go non contact. They chose to turn their backs on you. It's neither your fault or your responsibility to make overtures to win back their good graces. Note that the parents also are heavily biased and have other problems, not the least of which is emotional blackmail to get money from their children. The best thing is to live your own life and tell them to leave you alone before you cut them off.

Yes - siblings asking for children happens. When my mother was pregnant with my youngest brother, her sister "offered" to take the child as my mother already had eight, and she had none.
Further, my mother miscarried at 4 months and got pregnant again within 2 weeks, thus "carrying" him for a total of 13 months.
Edit: My mother politely said no, and they havent spoken much since.
That was 30+ yrs ago.
For clarification - my mother had NO IDEA she'd miscarried until 6months became 2 months.
So she almost LITERALLY carried for over a year. o.o
Adult children do not owe their parents a damn thing monetarily (unless it was a legally documented loan). You don’t even owe “love and gratitude”. You give love and gratitude to those who you love and feel grateful to. Love and gratitude should NEVER be demanded to be paid back monetarily by anyone; especially not parents whose responsibility it is to raise and care for their children. If I got five dollars for every time family rallied support for a toxic brother or sister in law I'd have enough to buy a full tank of gas for my car. "Go to hell" is a very appropriate response to someone offering to buy one of your babies, split up twins and keep them separated. "My mom doesn't like that I'm a career woman instead of a stay at home mom" tells me everything I need to know. Op's family bit the hand that helped them out financially way too many times. That's what I thought but my mom was an only child and my youngest got pregnant with identical twins after being told she could have kids at 15. So unless way way back in my mom's family line their was, my dad on the other hand hand 17 sets of fraternal twins and 2 sets of identical. Unfortunately we lost one of them ealry on otherwise it would have been the 3 set of identical boys.

I have twins, and a singleton and if anyone ever demanded I gave them one of my children, no matter the reason, would be cut out of my life, and put on my shit list immediately! But, I don't like OPs attitude that one needs to experience giving birth and wearing the scars like a badge of honor to be a mother. Yes, her SIL is being vain and obnoxious. However, many, many women have abopted, have stepchildren, or are unable to carry a child due to certain issues so they have a surrogate, and they are just as much mothers, as we who have birthed our babies. Also, sadly, there are many women who have birthed a child, and have the scars to prove it, but are absolutely terrible and don't deserve to me mothers.

I LOVE the fact an awful lot of parents seem to think that their children should pay for the privilege of having been born and raised by them. NO THEY SHOULDN’T!
1 :- they did not ask to be born
2 :- they were not asked if they wanted to be born
3 :- legally, after they were born, their parents HAD TO PROVIDE FOR THEM, while they were still under the legal age of adulthood. In fact, taking money off them during this time for ANY reason, until adulthood, in my opinion is tantamount to theft!!!! At one point, my eldest had a gap year. We took a nominal sum off him for a year. We then gave it back to him at the end of that gap year. He was delighted, as it meant he had great Holiday period.
