    Story Summary :-
The narrator is a 33-year-old mixed-race woman married to Jacob, who comes from a family with minor royal ancestry in England. They live together with their two young daughters in the family's large ancestral home that was converted into a hotel.
Jacob's family, including his titled father Edward, materialistic mother Marion, and spoiled sister Arabelle, have never accepted the narrator due to her race and lower social class. They treat her and her daughters as second-class citizens, expecting them to use the servants' entrance and excluding them from family events.
The narrator works as an accountant and has been managing the family's finances for free. However, she discovers they are nearly bankrupt from living beyond their means to keep up appearances. When Arabelle gets engaged, the family plans a lavish party and tells the narrator and her daughters they cannot attend
Furious at their racism and exclusion, the narrator crashes the party dressed as a server. She tells all the guests that the family is broke and made her work as they couldn't afford staff. Chaos ensues and the engagement is called off. The family tries to blame the narrator for their money issues.
The narrator provides evidence to the police proving the family's dire finances were their own doing. She meets with Arabelle's ex-fiancé and shows him the truth. Realizing her marriage is doomed due to her husband's prejudice, the narrator makes plans to divorce him and move out with her daughters.
The narrator cuts off the family financially. Their ancestral home is sold off to pay debts. The narrator finds happiness with her daughters in a new home, while her racist ex-husband fights her in the divorce. The narrator begins a potential new relationship with Arabelle's former fiancé, feeling optimistic about her future.

A lot of people don't understand that being an aristocrat and royalty are two different things. In England, an aristocrat is not royalty. There are royal dukes like Prince William, Duke of Cambridge and Prince Harry, Duke of Sussex. Most of the dukes, viscounts, barons are aristocrats or nobility. Even if they have royal blood from generations back, they are not royalty. In Denmark and Germany, barons are a dime a dozen. They are not royal but are considered nobility or aristocracy. Most of them are poor and work everyday like the rest of us.

She should have left a long time ago…..especially after their treatment of her children. Don’t expose them, at least not directly as it will damage your reputation to be a trustworthy accountant. She should have “let it slip” to their wealthy friends so they could see how right you were about their situation and possibly get some clientele out of it..

My first MIL was the most opinionated lady I have ever met. She had the opinion that I was of a lower class because my parents had jobs that 'weren't as good as theirs' meaning here's and FIL's. She always put on airs and once at a fourth of July picnic was talking about me with her relatives who came to our house after a parade. She was talking in Polish, but, she didn't realize that a friend of mine was there who also was fluent in Polish. She was kind of protective of me because my mom had died a few months earlier. She basically told the MIL that if she said anything like that again she was going to stomp a mud puddle in her then pound it dry! MIL hurriedly left soon after.

His mother loved making snide remarks about me. There was a time that I didn't go to her home for over several years. My husband asked me why I'd stopped visiting them wherever he would go. I flat out told him that I never go to places that I'm not welcomed. When she passed, I did support him out of respect.

I actually believe the story as I work in finance in a country that is technically still a "British colony". My ex boss was a receiver for an estate of a family with aristocratic ties. Many of these families are notorious for having NO idea how to manage money in the modern world. This particular estate included a lordship title and as the receivers, every year someone on staff had to "hold" the title of "Lord X" in order to be a signatory for the estate's affairs. For anyone not familiar, lordships often include property issued to a "lord" by the "crown" so it can get complicated but yeah, old money families needing new money or old money that still has money in order to avoid the fate of this particular estate is nothing new.

    I'm not racist but.......
My daughter came out awhile ago so I often get
"Don't get me wrong, I'm not homophobic or anything. Like, I totally support & accept .... THAT.... Kind of lifestyle. But ......"
I'm aware there r huge differences between situations since sexual orientation isn't something that can be ascertained at just a glance. I posted this cuz commenter #2 made me realize the similarities to conversations people start with me at times. I just couldn't help but laugh when I realized just how many times people have used that preface to conversations they've started.
It's almost like they feel it's a disclaimer or a way to exonerate themselves if what they say next is inappropriate or offensive. It's kinda funny in a darkly ironic sense.

    • @skeletonfreak.86

It kinda depends cause I am not homophobic being I am pansexual. I am not transphobic and am attracted to many trans men and women and have trans friends and 2 friend with trans children....but.....me and even my trans friends and parents of the 2 trans kids don't believe on children getting surgeries. Does my but then change anything in this context? Would the but make a difference if any of my trans mates or the parents of the trans kids say the same? We all agree in social transition just not surgical on children. The but does not always mean the person is about to be cruel or uncover a disgusting view. Unfortunately the "but" most of the time does mean a racist or homophonic or sexist comment will actually be made. But......the but is sometimes just a word to give a view of genuine concern and a belief in something that isn't cruel. I am a pierced woman but....I do not agree on kuds being pierced as babies/ toddlers and say this to friends who did do it to theirs cause it is my opinion you should never treat a child as a fashion statement. This in in the western world of course as i cannot speak gor tribal cultures and their ways though i do not agree with female circumcision as that is deeply cruel, sexist and dont with no good intent in any culture. Any mutalation of gentalia is wrong. I have a boy and do not agree in non surgically needed circumcision. I have had a partner with a botched one done and also he doesn't agree with them being done. The whole it's cleaner thing has been proven as myth. I know it can be needed as Mason almost needed one, glad he didn't as he is autistic and it would of been traumatic. He already traumatised by other things needed doing. I am autistic but.....I do not agree on people using it as an excuse for everything. It is an explanation but not an excuse for no efforts being made to try still help children learn....I have unfortunately met parents who see it as pointless letting their kids try anything or do anything cause they will never be able to anyway. My son isn't likely to succeed in college setting but will I let him try, hell yes cause he wants to and I am just proud of him trying. Have I bought things that were pointless and I knew would not continue, yes but I would rather try than never bother. Same with my daughter and her karate. Will it stick, who knows. I will still pay what I do even if next week she wants yo stop and try something else. I want my children to find themselves and be themselves. Not force my likes on them and use sunken cost fallacy as excuse or special needs as an excuse not yo try or yo make them continue if they like interest. So no not all buts are leading to bigotry. I agree most do though and that is sad. Also people can have their opinions like I can have mine. If theirs is crappy then up there's and they can just go away with that crap and I will tell them they suck and why and walk away. Secism has lead to my late diagnosis, gaslighting from mental health service and being messed up on pills I never should been on when at 8 mum mention autism and was told she justva girl and a troubled one. My daughter facing sexism cause girls mask mire and better usually and are less likely non verbal like lots of boys. So fighting it still atm and had a Dr try say oh yeah but that's just being a girl about my daughter. I pointed out reverse the roles and you see it as a sign in a boy. But people suck. In all walks of life, proffessions etc etc. That is unfortunately the world

      @jaguar.dragon 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

@@skeletonfreak.86 while I do agree with many things u said, I would like to point out 1 glaring misunderstanding u have about trans & kids.
Absolutely NO SURGERIES r performed on "children". Until children r adults & legally allowed to sign medical forms themselves, NO SURGERIES r performed.
Surgeries on children r not just unwise, they could also be dangerous, even to the point of life threatening since their body is still developing.
The MOST outside influence on a child doctors can legally provide r puberty blockers. Not only does this prevent a child from going through puberty without causing ANY effect on brain development, it's also COMPLETELY REVERSIBLE by just quitting taking it. There r MANY steps taken B4 puberty blockers r even considered. This includes psychiatric evaluations & counseling. Puberty blockers r not just something prescribed on a whim.
As for male circumcision, my views & medical experiences r opposite yrs too. My Dad & his 4 brothers, along with my brother in law & nephew weren't. My Dad's generation were born at home on the farm, so male circumcision wasn't something widely performed then. My Dad & 3 of his brothers experienced medical issues & eventually found circumcision to be the remedy to prevent further issues. Same with my brother in law, but after my nephew's birth. Since my nephew would've remembered at his age, they r waiting to see if he has issues. Only then would they consider it. I chose to circumcise my son to prevent him going through the same problems & have no regrets. I had it done right at birth to prevent it from being a traumatic memory. My belief is that male circumcision is a medical benefit & would encourage anyone considering getting it done when their son is born. I just don't try to impose my opinion on anyone though. I find that out of line.
Piercing children's ears is another thing that I understand being done as babies to prevent the memory.
My daughter pulled at her ears when she cried, so I waited til she wanted it when she older & made the decision herself. Otherwise I'd have done it b4 she would remember the pain. Ear piercing is a very common thing in my society. Ear piercing doesn't cause medical issues or prevent any physical function, I see no harm in it.
As to vaginal mutilation, there is NO medical reason for this; only a social one which is solely for the future husband's benefit. Since there is no actual medical reason, I find any defense of it abhorrent & sexist. My understanding is that it's done to remove any enjoyment of sex, therefore preventing a wife from "straying". Patriarchal dominance & self-serving male "benefit" is the deplorable excuse I've heard for this occuring.
Male circumcision MIGHT minimally reduce sensations, but female mutilation takes away all.
Those r my differing thoughts on those matters. Any others mentioned, I either agree, or don't remember at the moment.
Difference of opinions is just another thing making us all unique. As long as we respect others & don't force our views onto them, our united differences & strengths can make society a better place for all.
      Cheers

I am also related to royalty, so I understand where you are coming from. If the family is really wealthy, then they would know King Charles III, his grand-children, and everyone else in the royal family. I am related to the royal family in real life, but I have never been to Great Britain, but I would like to go there someday.
Family deserves to be treated equally including pay checks and bonuses no matter what their background. The family reeks of racism and mis-treatment, but I'm glad that you and your daughters got out of there before things got worse. Get DNA tests on your daughters and yourself, as well as your ex-husband to prove who the father of your girls is. The DNA test will also reveal if the family is really 'royal' or not. Go to court and make the divorce legal and show the proof of evidence that you have. Good luck and keep us updated if you can.

Baron is not that close to Royalty, it's the very bottom rung of the British aristocracy. Plus having a title doesn't mean you are related to the RF. Many titles were given for services to the crown/nation. Such as Horatio Nelson, who was a commoner before distinguishing himself in battle. He became 1st Viscount Nelson, 1st Duke of Bronte KB. He wasn't related to the Royal family at all.

1 - Even if the story is fake, it's an awesome piece of fiction and better than much of the shows on TV today.
2 - The Royal line is extensive. We know of the top 10 or 15 members, but there are links to the Royal family in countries around the world, even here in Australia, and once you've passed the "20th+ in line for the throne" those Royal links are as statistically common folk like the rest of us peasants, even if they like to think otherwise.
3 - There needs to be at least one more update eventually. I'm hanging out for Ben to propose to O.P!!!

I actually agree with the first top comment and the second top comment sounds like a dumbass because here's the thing he doesn't get that there's been a great amount of documented history showing that people who are actual royals have been known to Mary middle class or lower class people throughout the years in our history and it's the thing that even still happens today and not only that I don't think this guy read the story correctly wear it's literally stated by the original poster that her in-laws come from a family of royalty because of a hotel they build a long time ago but no longer are a big deal as royalty as they used to be back in the day and I also do get yes some people can just be 12 year olds making up the story but there's no way of twelve-year-olds to make up a story this will detailed

I'm titled, actually. Mom's side of the family is related to the British Monarchy, I'm first cousins, 12X removed, with Queen Elizabeth the II. 13X with King Charles! All the major Queens are related. I was pretty tormented as a kid, until my dad told me who, and what I was. You just don't tell a grade schooler that, might as well have told me that I was Sleeping Beauty😂 Dad was forced to tell me, that he lied to me - someone known to never lie. It's because it hurt my half-sister's feelings. I think of her as my sister, until her jealous, green-eyed monster rears it's head. Then, I always lost, or got a beating!
But this time, I refused to accept his fake apology, that I knew he told the truth.
Titles mean nothing, in America, anywhere - unless you actually run Charities, help those in need, out!
Ergo, I rarely mention it, unless to prove a point. BTW, of course I wasn't invited to King Charles' Coronation, 😅 I just don't rank high enough on mom's side, unless I use my title.

I also have other family member who we love and except for who they are.

Actually if you went far back enough you would find aristocratic links in most people's family trees (maybe not royalty and maybe some would be from the wrong side of the blanket).
Having lived in the UK for some time this attitude is still very prevalent even among the people with the smallest/thinnest links to royalty. Remember someone could be made a Baron just by doing a favour or fighting for the Crown - it's one of the lower branches in the hierarchy.
