    No competition, the 2018 sounds way better even with the restrictions it has compared to the 2016 pre face-lift versions. Slap a stage 1 remap on the 2018 and it'll give the new model a run for its money at a fraction of the cost. The soft limiter, lack of sound and the sin of fake exhaust tips means a no no for me, when I trade in my 2016 I'd rather get a 2018 model than the new one.

    Great 👍 vid again,, I quite like the fact that the new Rs3 isn’t all load cracks and pops., kinda goes under the radar a bit when it’s on the road but you just know that you can blow away virtually any car on the road if you wanted, it’s got the road presence with it’s wide arches which is what I’d rather have than a noisy exhaust, you can always sort the exhaust if you want later on but it’s not a priority for me, I’ll get spaces on my car first to bring the wheels out of the arches a bit. I’ve got build slot week 49 so my boy should be getting built this coming week fingers crossed 🤞

  • @knight2425
    @knight2425 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    I believe the reason the tailpipes are not connected to the exhaust are to prevent damaging the exhaust in certain rear end accidents, many car manufacturers are doing it now and when you see the price of a rear exhaust anything that saves it is a good thing

    • @TechInTheCar
      @TechInTheCar  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I agree. I haven’t had any accidents myself but on the current generation there is definitely wear and tear on the exhausts. This should stop that.

    My question would be, do you think its worth saving for the 2022 (or now 2023) version, or get the 2018? Cost wise, the 2018 version goes for about 52k in Germany, compared to 70k for the 2022.

    • @luciussander8217
      @luciussander8217 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I went Carbon to get the all black wheels and flat bottom steering wheel. Added C&S pack and the RS dynamic pack. Couldn't care less about leccy seats, HUD other trinkets you don't need. Coloured callipers is my only gripe, but I already have OEM Audi ceramic stickers and a professional wheel guy lined up to paint my callipers - he does a lot of high ened cars, so no worries on quality. Vorsprung is a bit of a con IMO. You also get additional roof spoiler and carbon on the mirrors and skirts. So looks wise, the carbon takes it. The best thing? Lead times. I placed my order in October and now have a 2022 build date, so should see my RS3 sportback by March. A lot of people who've ordered Vorsprung have no clue when there's is coming.

    no comparison really when it has a soft limiter however the new RS3's performance is spectacular. I just traded in my Golf R MK8 which I only did 5000 miles in for the new RS3 before the price hike as the Golf also had a price increase which benefited me. I am not too happy about the limited options given in the UK so just went straight for the Vorsprung edition as you get more for your buck. I'm not too sold on the idea that we get less due too the chip shortage I reckon it was down to Brexit and new legislation making it more expensive to have these things added but that is just a theory. I enjoy watching your channel especially regarding the new RS3 they're very informative. Maybe a comparison video on the A45s and RS3 would be good considering they are rivals.

    Engine packaging is slightly different between the 2 models, the new RS3 seems to have the engine a bit further placed forward as there is more room between it and the firewall and less room between it and the radiator. People working on mods for the new RS3 have highlighted this

    • @TechInTheCar
      @TechInTheCar  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I am not sure that is really a change. I know your talking about the Evolve video. But I think that minor change is down to the redesigned front of the car and doesn’t make any differences to performance. The ECU changes do however.

      @@TechInTheCar I don’t know enough about how much change there is there and am curious if the engine is sitting further in front of front axle than old model and if so maybe it’s been done for handling improvements, not sure but if you get a chance to compare them again perhaps you can see if it’s noticeable or not.
