Seth, Stephen, Trevor, John Oliver...all have been exceptionally serious and productively critical of this administration. No joking around besides the jokes. Job well done!!

I think it’s more than ironic that the late night comedians and John Oliver have been one of the most clear eyed recorders of what the IMPACT of this deranged leader and his cult were to our democracy. The real news Nicole, Rachel, Joy, Lawrence and so on, were somewhat bound by journalistic ethics not to say call him a tangerine asshat, or the toddler in chief. But all great comedy is rooted in truth. There will be as many hero’s in this story as villains because that is kind of the story of America. Those foxy framers were on to something with the Bill of rights and starting it with freedom of speech and press... kind of like chocolate and peanut butter, comedians and truth seeking press. Nicole was great tonight (and great all day long too)

Thank you Seth Meyers for taking this seriously, and having an important discussion on this matter (just like at other times before). This isn't something that should've been covered with jokes/satire, something that other Late Night hosts have done.

The behavior of Cruz and Hawley is one of the most disgusting things I've ever seen.
They are absolutely aware of the fact that their objections have nothing to do with the consitution or the people. Covid made it less obvious, and was a cover for my real reason for drawing away. I felt engaging further was useless. I felt surrounded by strangers. Conversations become superficial if you feel you have to avoid stepping on toes.

Sedition as defined by Federal Law happens when citizens “conspire to overthrow, put down, or to destroy by force the Government of the United States... or to oppose by force the authority thereof". This is what we have seen this day in Washington D.C. as a small group of citizens stormed the hall’s of the Senate and interfered with the rule of our constitutional process. These people held our Senate hostage to prevent the certification of our President at best or to intimidate them to not certify these results at worst. This is sedition. Not terrorism. Not a peaceful protest. Not a demonstration. It is an organized act of sedition instigated by a sitting President who has less than two weeks left in office. Anyone responsible for this from Trump down to the guy who took down the American flag and replaced it with a Trump flag. To not respond by arresting and charging these people will only empower them to keep up this false act they call patriotism.

I agree. They didn’t use a fraction of the force that they used on peaceful protesters and people of color during BLM protests. And they seemed to largely side with the mob rather than trying to stop it. I’m sure there will be hearings and we’ll eventually learn how this was orchestrated. There needs to be accountability on a large scale.

I can think of two specific incidents - in interviews as candidate when he CLEARLY DIDN'T know what the nuclear triad was and the reporter let him off with the flimsiest of non-answers, and right before the 16 election when he wouldn't agree to accept the results and nobody asked how that wasn't the most hypocritical thing in the world
So true, most of the journalists tiptoed around, some good exceptions like Swann and Wallace. Journalists at Trumps press meetings hardly ever backed up fellow journalists Trump had slammed down or insulted.

Finally, someone who recognizes that charges have to start with the president and members of the Congress who committed sedition! They should be thrown out and sent to prison!
Challenging an election is a legal process it's not sedition. Matter of fact if we are going to talk about sedition It's Democrats that spurred on and supported the riots and demanded defund the police. Kamala Harris herself was asking people to donate money to bail out dangerous rioters to once again riot against their city and state government. That actually is sedition in not just words but ACTS!

There was massive vote fraud by Democrats in the election, some of it centered in the US embassy in Rome - where three rogue CIA swine and an embassy official enlisted the help of an Italian IT expert from Leonardo SpA. They uploaded encrypted instructions to a Italian military satellite, and from there to Frankfort in order to effect the vote steal. Hundreds of thousands of votes were stolen from Trump and given to Biden. Thank you, Josh Hawley, for speaking the truth!

I made a lot of enemies of former friends when I said, when Trump first ran for office in 2016, "It's not about his politics...I think Trump is dangerous, and capable of inflicting considerable harm on this country without demonstrating a scintilla of remorse for doing so." [Of course, a lot of people thought I was nuts when I predicted Trump would win in 2016, when absolutely everyone knew he would be dispatched as a joke of a candidate. My point - I understood what made Trump tick...and I knew that what made Trump tick appealed to a lot more people than anyone seemed willing to accept.]

Kendall, there have been a lot of us yelling about him for years. He sets off screaming warning sirens for anyone who has ever had to deal with a domestic abuser or narcissist up close. The problem is everyone else who has never experienced it can't understand and keep enabling him by giving the benefit of the doubt - the classic "oh but he seems so nice, give him a chance, forgive and forget, move forward..."
This is the really dangerous time, where he does everything to get us back, and then everything to get back AT us.
Like the intolerance paradox, we must not tolerate his behaviour, he MUST be held accountable, and we must not let the repubs, orJoe, or anyone else tell us to just move on. It's not just him that that enables, but all his sychophants as well. It allows the abuse to not only continue, but escalate. If that happens, people WILL die, far more than already have.
