    Indeed. Supporting a bill that 70% of Americans favor _should_ be a *no-brainer* which succintly summarizes what's wrong with the GQP. Bipartisanship is DEAD. So you may as well go full nuclear and eliminate the filibuster.

    One of the bright spots of the horrific year of 2020 has been Nicolle's segment "Lives well Lived" at the end of every show. Putting a name and a face to just a few of the hundreds of thousands of those we needlessly lost has been a humanizing grace note in a dehumanizing period

    Mary Trump said that the Republicans aren't afraid of Trump. He reflects who they really are and their racism. Nicolle just alluded to the same thing. Everyone else needs to realize that as well.

      Trump was also possible because Bill Clinton sole the DNC to Wall Street in 1993. If Dem's had accomplished more than a GOP health plan written by the Heritage Institute, over the last 40 years, they would not have any problem getting elected. But they don't even try to do a damn thing. As of now, they have all three "houses" of govt, but won't even pass an infrastructure bill unless Joe Mansion is satisfied that at least one GOP will vote for it. So, in other words, no more reconciliations. Forget that $15 wage that 92% of Dems and 63% of GOPs want. Not gonna happen b/c Dem's obstruct themselves. Who needs GOPs when you've got feckless Dems who won't lift a finger or whip votes in the senate.

    Before World War II, Charles Lindbergh typified American heroism with his daring flights, including the first solo transatlantic flight, and his celebration of new technology. He parlayed his fame and heroic stature into a leading role in the America First movement, which opposed America’s entrance into the war against Nazi Germany. In 1939, in an essay entitled “Aviation, Geography, and Race,” published in that most American of journals, Reader’s Digest, Lindbergh embraced something close to Nazism for America:

    The America First movement was the public face of pro-fascist sentiment in the United States at that time. In the twenties and thirties, many Americans shared Lindbergh’s views against immigration, especially by non-Europeans. The Immigration Act of 1924 strictly limited immigration into the country, and it was specifically intended to restrict the immigration of both nonwhites and Jews.
    Once again, nationalism, aka fascism, has risen its ugly head in America, in European nations, and in some other countries around the world. The fight of good people against ignorance, the fears that sprout from it, the hate which then blossoms, culminating in the bitter toxic fruit of evil, senseless brutalities and deaths, is a constant, never-ending battle we fear, but it is a battle from which we must never shrink.
    In this era, the likes of Toxic Trump and Marginalized Greene have become the face of the new "America First" fascist movement built up over the last four decades by the GOP, Reich-wing plutocrats, demagogues, and media. But, as with Lindbergh, the American people gradually come to recognize their dysfunctional poison and reject it. Most Americans understand, accept, and appreciate that the enduring strength of America is that we are a nation of immigrants and multiculturalism, a "melting pot" where the best ideas rise to the top, and superficial differences are meaningless in the face of our common humanity and purpose. Most Americans want competent leaders who speak truth, who strive to unite, who are not corrupt, who care about them. So, it should come as no surprise that President Biden is already receiving high marks from the public, while Toxic Trump never managed to rise above even a 50% approval rating.       The only issue I have is that there is a mistake or an over inflation or an attempt to try and link a current issue being spoken on ( Upliftment of Black & Brown communities & the BLM movement) you tried to say “ yeah because of the 1924 immigration act they were trying to stop black & brown people and Jewish people ... that’s factual inaccurate and incorrect... technically Black & Brown immigration was already restricted 🚫 or limited honestly if not brought over in chains ⛓ really none existent (less than 1%) until the 1968 immigration act by LBJ after the Civil Rights Act Faught for by Dr. King & Many others ... the immigration act you speak of in 1924 was meant to keep out Jewish people, Italians, & Eastern Europeans, Greeks, Armenians & groups like that from immigrating to America because at that time they weren’t considered white or as white as Western Europeans (French, English, Germans, Anglo Saxon Europeans most of the Western World is familiar with) they were considered less than and base beings also even if you read the literature at that time they talk about there tint ( complexion) and ancestry as in ( those countries have been conquered and occupied by different groups over the centuries Persians, Moguls,Ghankis Khan, The Turks, Ottomans ... so other Europeans even question there idk I guess they would say there pure European credentials also add that to some of them are orthodox Christians and not Catholics or Protestants that even adds more complexities .... The comment isn't about BLM or any social justice movement per se, but a warning about the Republican party of today slipping down the slippery slope, descending into the fascist tendencies of decades past.
      No two fascist movements have ever been exactly alike, so it would be unreasonable to expect the revival of fascism in America to be precisely like its predecessor, especially given the long interval in between and the progress of society during that time. Such differences should not preclude us from recognizing it and the danger posed, however.

    I am so impressed by Ms. Wallace's eloquence and humanity. When she talked about the covid victims in April and how we didn't even get a chance to comprehend the enormity of the loss - that really moved me, this woman is brilliant, and I have to make an effort to watch her show. Brava!

      You are correct. She is brilliant, and the regulars she talks to on her show are are themselves pretty sharp, and the quality of their discussions is top-notch too. She sticks to reality and the fact she was able to describe herself as a "self-loathing former Republican" really says all that needs saying about her integrity. It's a great show.
      Colbert is pretty sharp too, and sometimes I think that isn't said enough.

    Even though I get your context, the way I see Biden I don't find anything 'boring' about him at all. In the midst of a critical social war with a lot of minefields ahead, Biden offers revived propects of fixing the deep-rooted problems intrinsic to this country.     A brief history of the “party of Lincoln.”
    The Southern Strategy put an end to that. Where they embraced the southern Dixiecrats enraged by LBJ passing the Civil Rights Act.
    Add to that the Evangelical Strategy, which changed a humble group of deeply religious people who found politics unseemly into one issue fervent voters attending mega churches with pastors who live in mansions and fly on private jets, all without paying a nickel in taxes.
    Next came an actor president who could pump out false lines on toughness and self improvement all while implementing economic policies that would ensure an income gap that to this day has still not been properly addressed.
    After that the Koch brothers, et al started their behind the scenes moves to destroy democracy through control of statehouses, implementing gerrymandering and other voter disenfranchisement laws to ensure a party with extremely unpopular policies, when taken as a whole, could remain in power, with representation grossly disproportionate to their votes received. Before the Kochs turned their attention to destroying a free education system by propping up the idea of publicly financed religious charter schools, actively changing curriculums at local schools and donations to large universities, with the caveat of having a say on what is taught.
    Let’s not forget Roger Ailes’ and Rupert Murdoch’s role in providing a platform to amplify their message in the form of propaganda disguised as news. Inventing straw men for viewers to fear, distracting from the real issues affecting their lives.
    Which brought us the Tea Party, the first wave of nut jobs elected in districts engineered to only support candidates from one party and where only the most fervent supporters voted in the primaries. Act One of the party of crazy.
    Cannot miss the Heritage Foundation’s role, working with McConnell and others to ensure the court system is filled with Christian religious zealots and loyalists in a country supposedly founded upon freedoms, liberties and a separation of Church and State.
    Let’s not forget Doug Coe, long time leader of The Fellowship, host of the national prayer breakfast. A group that has spread their evil tentacles worldwide and holds loyalty to no country, but only rather to a fervent belief that those who attain power were ordained by God to hold that power. Therefore, their insane logic goes, God forgives them of any and all sins they have or will commit. They whisper platitudes in the ears of leaders throughout the world and tell them they are “Chosen” by God to wield his mighty sword. Sound familiar?
    On to the internet! A platform controlled by narcissistic, sociopaths, whose only real goal is that idea of success created in the 80’s, amassing an amount of money that they could never spend in 100 lifetimes, while more and more people enter into poverty. How do they distract you from their ridiculous wealth? Algorithms to the rescue. Keep feeding you only the information that reinforces your preconceived biases, while making it more and more difficult to search out reality. “News” is now only served out in tiny snippets, bite sized morsels perfect for consumption in the short-attention span market. “News” has become an act of regurgitating talking points, which have no basis in reality, but when repeated enough, begin to shape people’s “reality.” A gaslighting goldmine!
    Enter Q! A political invention of who knows what origin at this point, to push ridiculous conspiracy theories promoting policies that could not be supported by fact. Q’s theories have changed over time and always embraces new players, even when it contradicts previous theories, all to the delight of their captive audience. At this point Q is most probably hundreds of hackers in Russia, Iran, North Korea and/or China whose only true goal is to weaken democracy through division.
    So there we have it! A synopsis of the current Grand Ole Party!
    Time to dig the grave and move on from it.

    The real question is, if we still had the Bush admin in charge would she still be a Republican?
    A lot of these people just don’t like how unprofessional republicans are now, but have no problem with the many many crimes of the Bush admin.
    This just shows how close moderate liberals and conservatives really are, when they can just back and forth.

    It shows fragility of two-party system. In Europe, there is usually 4-9 parties in Parliament, usually none have absolute majority, and to rule, they have to seek support of others and build coalitions. If one party goes cockoo, there is usually some similar party to vote for according to your preferences. It is not bulletproof, voters still can make terribe choices, but it is definitely more resilient to fascism than political system in US.

    I am a former lifelong Republican that left the GOP in 2016 when Trump was nominated. The last few weeks, the democrats have been working on massive covid relief and economic legislation to help revitalize the economy by empowering the middle and lower class. While the democrats were doing that, the GOP was obsessing about an anthropomorphic spud and children's books from the 1940s and 1950s.

      While watching, please remember that two veterans kill ourselves every day and partly because her boss, Dubya, turned us into war criminals when what we signed up for was to protect our citizens. She should have resigned over the Forever War but instead she helped to lie America into it. Yes, Dick Cheney is more at fault, but he does not have Nicole Wallace's charisma and The People would not have believed the lies if not for her. So don't act like she played a minor role. She was as vital to the effort to fool America as Joe Biden was when he strongarmed 39 Dem senators to vote for that War Over Obvious Lies.

    I watch Deadline White House every day, religiously. Before it went to a 2 hour show I used to say "This show is not long enough!" Apparently, I wasn't the only one who thought so.
    Every day when "Lives Well Lived" comes on, I'm tempted to turn off the TV because I just can't watch one more devastating loss for one family. But I make myself watch it, and I'm always glad I did. And I'm so glad it's going to be made into an NBC Special ❤🌈

    Nicole Wallace is probably my favourite Republican. I've been watching her for the past 5 years, & more since her Deadline Whitehouse show began airing. What do I like about her? She's honest, she has integrity, she treats others with respect... did I mention that she's honest? Truth-telling becomes admirable when it becomes rare, & there's nowhere else that truth is rarer right now than in the current Republican party.

    8:39 Comparing victims of terror to victims of disease is problematic for some World views, particularly those that see disease as an act of God while terrorism is an act of man (though, often claiming divine support). And, expecting a response from leadership (what there is of it) that operates from that World view is also problematic. And, then there's shirking that responsibility to lead by playing it down and then blaming other countries that also played it down. However deeply we ponder these things, I fear we can never make up for those that think less deeply about this.

He began a deal to buy an electricity provider in the United States but an American judge stopped it, saying Ontario Hydro could be politically influenced. He fined Ontario Hydro $124,000,000 for non-completion and the American paid it, telling Ontario rate-payers they won't see it on their bill. He quit and was hired by the Tennessee Valley Authority. I hope this is informative for you.
      Currently, Americans are banned from entering Ontario. Sitting here looking over the Niagara River, that's a happy thought.
