      Criminal cases are different.
It'll take time. Otherwise, acquittal -- then double jeopardy.
Unless it can be dismissed without prejudice, so that the prosecutor(s) can bring back the charges at a later time.

One thing that's interesting to me is how the out-takes revealed how hair-trigger 45's temper is, and how quickly he descends into tantrums at the slightest difficulty. The man grimacing and smacking the podium and making violent "reset" hand gestures when he has to do something as simple and easy as repeat a take once or twice is definitely the man who would throw his food at the wall or lunge for a Secret Service agent's throat. He is also not someone capable of complex plans.
It's nothing we didn't already know, of course, but 45 usually carefully manages his public image to appear unflappable and sophisticated (at least, as much as he's capable of doing so). Those out-takes shred that image for anyone who cares to look, and perhaps even for some who'd rather not. A guy playing 47D chess doesn't start pounding tables because he has to repeat a sentence, and there's not really a way to spin that as "the liberal media's out to get me", because it was his people in control of the recording.
The out-takes made him look quite powerless, and there's few things more deadly to a fascist leader than signs of weakness, because the image of strength is pretty much all his followers pursue him for, and there's always a new would-be fascist leader sharpening their knives in the shadows just off-stage (hi, DeSantis!).

You look at the Cruz entrance, how do people who vote for him expect to see the change that affects their lives when they treat the politicians like a rock or wrestling star. They know they are untouchable; they fill their pockets while making meaningless efforts on hot button issues that in the end has 0 effect on their lives in their right wing rural or suburban life.

      😅

I just finished reading a book last night written by a man who has been locked in prison for 40 some years after a trial that Amnesty International called one of the biggest miscarriages of justice in our nation's history. Upon appeal of the death penalty he received, the judge admitted that the evidence wasn't remotely sufficient to have warranted a conviction. The police, who went around threatening people to testify that they saw him commit a murder (despite him not looking remotely like the man who pulled the trigger), threatened to protest if his conviction was overturned so he was given a life sentence instead. He had written on the subject of whether Black Lives have ever Mattered and brought up those full-page ads Trump put out about about the 5 people falsely accused of rape. But yes, Trump is the most persecuted....
