Exactly, I can't think of any issue more important. "Follow the money" as they say. As a society, I wish we would start discussing this heavily, starting in school, looking at cases in both local and national politics and debating what exactly corruption is. The better we can define it and identify it, the better we can hold politicians accountable. And, to raise self-awareness too, to make just a bit louder in peoples' heads the voice telling them they should be uneasy on that luxury skiing trip. People will still try to be corrupt of course, a la Sen Menendez, but we need to stop what we can and when we can. It's just amazing that most people are tolerant of corruption. I'll tell you what gives it away 100% of the time. If they accept corporate PAC money, congratulations, corruption achieved! VERY few people in government actively refuse to take large corporate donations because they are implicit bribes. Bernie Sanders, for example, exclusively takes donation money obtained through grassroots funding and turns away huge sums from corporate donors because he actively chooses to serve his constituents rather than corporate interests.
Congress will hop right on that once they take care of how no federal employees get paid during a government shutdown, except for representatives who get paid regularly, and term limits

Of course not. Unless human is forced to evolve into a new species by a higher being this will always be the case no matter what governmental system you put in place. Cause the bottom line of corruption is exchange power for something. If you have any governmental system in place you creates power. People held this power will use it to benefit themselves.

One of Jon’s best. The segue from Menendez to the rest of Congress was brilliant. He really set that up and then lowered the hammer.

This man should be removed from the Senate, and barred from EVER holding any political office ever; on any level. If we Democrats do not go after those in our own party who are causing the SAME kind of damage as people like MTG, Gaetz, Trump, et al. Wrong. Democrats are all for prosecuting Democrats and Republicans who engage in corruption. Republicans try to hide their corruption.
It is in real countries.
wow I feel like I keep up with news but I needed to read that comment. the DNC is a joke but "Corruption" "it's not even polled as a choice in polls. Because neither party is against it." hits hard.
Billionaire-owned media isn't against it, either.
There's no will to do anything about it, though it would help fix so many problems that people do care about.

Corruption in the US Government has become the norm. There is a need to investigate all the politicians
Know how they get out of that? They will call it political motivated/partisan/smear/witch hunt. So is the two party system.
It's so common, it's been a joke for quite some time now!
The biggest corruption was when the Senate failed to convict the twice impeached demon-possessed President.
Melendez is a disgrace. Kick him out!
Oh, Kathy, America is founded on corruption and treason. Why whip someone for doing such an American thing?
They all need to be investigated.

They all do it
And hit agian. The YT morality police removed my comment... again. Getting so tired of their illusive censorship rules.
Because Congress "regulates" Congress (or not so much🙄), there are no term limits and billions are squandered. Only Jon Stewart could make me laugh at this madness. He doesn't miss a beat.
Thank you, Steward, funny and truthful man of America
The question is how many others are doing the same...we need full transparency laws of congressmen and senators...
And guess who would have to write those laws ...
add Supreme Court judges as well.
Like, how the lifetime position of Supreme Court judges is considered normal
It's easier to figure out who isn't. I'll start you off with one, Senator Bernie Sanders. I can't think of another senator right now. In the House, there's maybe 20-40 who don't take corporate money. Hint, they aren't repugs.....

Well I mean, it's not like those two issues are unrelated. The corruption has created a system where only the wealthy get nominated, so our votes never actually can address the problem.
They sure do! More than ever!
And the answer is no.

Of course not. Unless human is forced to evolve into a new species by a higher being this will always be the case no matter what governmental system you put in place. Cause the bottom line of corruption is exchange power for something. If you have any governmental system in place you creates power. People held this power will use it to benefit themselves.
But voting will help to keep additional right-wing judges from being added to the Supreme Court and doing further damage, including making it harder to make real change.
