Amazing news our stowaway Huntsman has produced a second egg sac and this time we was there to retrieve the slings before they disappeared into the room.

As an Australian, I am absolutely terrified by these. In fact, when I move home, I always consider the likelihood of whether I'll get a huntsman in the house in my choice for houses.. started watching this channel as a way to combat my fear, but now a huntsman has had 2 sacs from a single pairing, I'm definitely concerned again lol

Australian terrified of huntsman spiders? That's a bad combo. Check the channel "bugs and biology" for an in depth look of Australian species by a guy that is too relaxed even for me as a spider keeper. Sorry for the ad, Dave. Just delete if you don't like that. But I'm pretty sure the spider channel love is everywhere.

I have had pet ones have up to 5 sacks off a single pairing. Nothing to be worried about they are completely harmless and rarely if ever try to bite

I watched this channel also to get over my fear of spiders. And I must say it's going the good way. I don't scream anymore when there Is a spider in the house. And to be honest. The biggest spider I found in my house was about an inch. Without the legs. We (luckily) don't have large spiders over here. I guess I would be talking differently if I should live in Australia 😂. I would still scream my head of. So I can understand very well your concerns about them. Even now I was screaming "put the lid back on and close that 🤬😱door". 😂
I wouldn't even dare to breath in his spiderroom. But here in Belgium, I can happily say that I am more calm when I see a big one passing by. I even want to grab one, one day. Not with a tiny catchcup but with the biggest curverbox I have. And then trying to get that spider in an enclosure, it will take me forever. But I will try.
And let us say... when he said we have to be careful for our fingers and then with the little enclosure taking babies out almost putting his fingers in the fangs of mom. I almost died... 😂
Good luck on the huntsman in your house and I hope you get over your fear. Big hugs from Belgium...

@Reb el that was what I was thinking to. It's like my friend who lived in Puerto Rico and she was crying over big spiders. It was almost like they wanted to bully her. Every evening when she wanted to go to bed, she was waking the village because at least there was one big spider in her room. And to be honest. She let me show pictures and they were massive. Luckily she has staff in her house and every evening they picked up the spiders and removed them. I am sure they let them free right outside her room 😂. Nobody has these big spiders in their rooms but she... every night. I wouldn't sleep forever... I dont know if they sensed her fear, or the staff were putting them in her room to see her scream and to come for the rescue... still have my doubts about it... 😂

Omg! She’s an illegal immigrant, Dave is aiding and abetting her and is an accessory after the fact. The good news is that all 150 of her kids are Canadian citizens. Dave better start creating the birth certificates in case ICE (I don’t know the Canadian counterpart agency) comesa knocking.

Although she's a bit on the small side, as an Aussie I'm still super proud that our girl has had a more successful round 2 with the kids =)
Huntsmans are the only spiders I allow to live in my house rent, and hassle, free - they can go about as they please as they keep the problem spiders in check (black house spiders and white tips are pretty bad if you don't keep on top of them). I used to handle them as a kid, but once I was finally bitten, I decided to go hands-free haha
I noticed many years ago that when they run around in a lit room, they wave their forelegs around and I assumed it to be because they are nocturnal, and the lights meant they couldn't see sh*t so they behaved like we do when we suddenly are put in the dark - aimlessly wandering around with our arms flailing about to prevent us from banging our noses hahaha
And when they are running in a panic, they leave a constant trail of webbing (you can see she's doing it at 29:10) so if they have to leap off of what they are on (and yes, they do leap a good distance) they use that webbing like a parachute and fall quite slowly.
Live abroad well dear Britney 💙

It wouldn't surprise me, at all, if she ate them. Huntsman Spiders are (as their name more than suggests, lol).. are ambush predators & need a lot of room to be happy. That's a really small 'permanent home' for an Ozzie huntsman! 🥺
Just for free shits & giggles, & OTHER'S enjoyment.. I had one drop on me from the sun-visor when I pulled it down last week, while doing 100km down a busy freeway.. at night!!
Not scared of them, usually, but not keen on reliving that experience, again, any time soon!! 😅

Where I grew up in Brisbane Queensland our neighbors owned the whole block as early pioneers to the area & subdivided just after WW2. Their street "Blackwood" was named after their very rough barked trees in their yard. Since watching Dave I've come to realize that the neighbors trees as a child had funnel web spiders living on the bark. I will have do a little research but I believe they are likely to be either "Hadronyche Infensa" or "Hadronyche Valida" or "Hadronyche Formidabilis". As kids we knew these black large spiders were aggressive & not to be played with.

I remember when I first got into the hobby, and I thought my GBB was fast. Then I got a P. regalis, and my perspective change somewhat, and I started think that GBB is kinda slow. Then I started keeping huntsman spiders... 😳. I don't know how to describe the speed to people, without calling it teleportation. When a tarantula bolts it's clumsy, and usually only a couple of feet, because they're basically blind. Huntsman spiders have great vision, so not only are they faster than the human eye, but they will run cross-country distances.

What a wild way for a new species to unintentionally enter the hobby.

Hi Dave and Camera Lady 💕💙 hope you’re both well and enjoying your Thursday morning.
What a lovely surprise for us… another beautiful egg sac! Thankfully us “human ladies” in normal circumstances

@@daveslittlebeasties It’s chewing through my mind Dave… and a pet Tarantula is so different than a house spider 🕷️I can’t imagine how I’d feel about having one of my very own, how positive I’m feeling. It’s weird 😂 xx
