Today we pair our Balfouri and manage to get some amazing footage of actual penetration leaving us in no doubt how these guys manage a successful copulation .

I don't think we have ever seen such a detailed pairing, I have learned so much about tarantulas from the Beastie Room.
That is unbelievable footage, in my 24 years of keeping tarantulas I’ve never seen the actual mating process in that detail before, not even in documentary’s

I've grown up reading WWF magazines, I've collected nature cards, watched nature channels but I've never seen a live mating process so clear. It's one thing for someone to explain and draw a picture and nod your head and another to see it in action. Also, as a fan of blue things, that male is gorgeous!

His blue was stunning! Hope all of his babies carry that trait. I'd say they definitely were successful. The diversity in behaviour within each species is what makes them so interesting and unique. I never realized just how much personality they have. But we as humans tend to be too preoccupied with our lives to take notice of these things. I do find them to be very interesting.
Hello Dave and Camera Lady. That was truly epic! That male was a total stunner and I think the female agrees with me. She quite had the look of a puppy when she was crawling around on the edge after the male left. She seemed very pleased with herself. I noticed that she didn’t do any of the abdomen rubbing like some of the others do after pairing. Maybe the others should watch the Balfouri’s to see how it should be done. 😂😂Anyway, lovely to see you again. Amazing amazing video. You should send that one to National Geographic. I went to an exhibit the other day that had alot of different animals and stuff..one little area had a tarantula...and I not only knew she was a lady, but I knew she was young and I wasn't afraid. I use to have a huge fear of spiders...in any capacity lol..but ive been watching dave for a while now and its actually helped my fear..I just think its great, and wanted to say thank you dave...cus you have taught me a lot about tarantulas..enough to ease my fear..I see them as just beautiful creatures now.

That was amazing, it is the first time I have seen such amazing footage, you have such a relaxed way with each and every spider you own! I have witnessed a video that was totally disgusting, you really care about your spiders and it is so refreshing. I took a peep at another channel, they were doing four pairings at the same time, they were laughing, shouting and generally terrifying an already scared spider! Your spiders are treated so well with respect and your videos teach many ages of people and educate them about the tarantulas not being aggressive, these videos are so important for the next generation!

Yeah, that's Exotic Liar I haven't watched it yet, I am waiting one day they get the male eaten. He did go to the restroom and he came back to a male getting eaten while his friend

Yep, that male is a stunner for sure ! That blue is simply food for the eyes ;) The actual process of insemination was fascinating to observe. I'm sure it's something very few of us ever get to catch a glimpse of. Crossing fingers for yet another nice balfouri sac.

"that was almost tarantula porn".😄, that really was incredible Dave... speaking of wild pairing, I once saw wolf spiders pairing and was so intrigued that we (my wife and I) almost trod on a second pair that also were getting it on at the same time... right on our backyard deck!!, although I must confess that at the time I was unaware what they were doing and thought we'd seen two spiders attacking one another.😂.. I've learnt so much from you since then... anyway that was amazing mate.. cheers.👍😃👍.

Well I got my Brachypelma Hamorii last Friday evening Dave. She’s let us see her twice…she ate 2 crickets, but since then she’s gone to the back of her hide and burrowed beyond that 😊 I’ll stick another pair of crickets in tomorrow and let them roam around for a day or two and see if they disappear 🫠

It was your experience as a noir film director that made this video world class. However you gave the very handsome male the stage directions of "up on the glass" and "move slowly, slowly" the results were amazing. Not just educational but surely the very best within arachnid science and the hobby of spider breeding. Epic!
