    Well done! Welcome to the family! I been breeding orthopods for 8 years now. Now I up to 60 different species of orthopods. I love to see the Lord's people do his work! It's all for are learning. You are strong young one, keep doing it! Strong colony too! The egg crates do great for the baby's to hide from bid one's. Good job! Mighty Dubia.

    I've kept my dubia colony for - and I can't believe I'm saying this - over 10 years now, adding some new blood to the gene pool every other year, and yet I'm still so fascinated by them. I've got a bunch of other feeder insects as well but there's just something about dubias that makes me love them. Yours look super healthy and happy! ❤

      Oh and great that you added the recommendation to wear gloves when handling roaches. I'd recommend wearing gloves and some kind of mask when cleaning out bins of feeder insects, especially if they produce fine, powdery frass (waste) that go airborne, like mealworm frass. I've bred mealies for even longer than dubias and I'm slightly allergic to them now thanks to being ignorant and cleaning the frass without protective gear during the first few years. Better safe than sorry!

      Thank you! We take pride in our dubia roaches and a lot of time & effort to get them healthy and productive 💪 🙌 way to go with your colony! That's awesome! They are fun to work with and yes self protective gear is important!

    Thank you for this amazing educational video! I thought i might want a colony for my tarantulas but after watching this have decided to stick with crickets for now. This is info i really needed, from a reputable source.

      @@katelarouche2835 thank you for watching & your kind words! We definitely understand that breeding roaches is not for all 😅 if you ever want some feeders though like dubia, mealworms, and superworms then visit our website as we sell more than colonies 😉 but we stay away from crickets because we hate them 🤣

    Yep i clean mine once a month or two. I get tired of banging the cartons so i use my hand and pick them off 😂

      Yes! That's a better idea for a smaller colony and way less stressful. For us with thousands it would take us forever to hand pick 😅 thanks for watching 😊

    Fantastic educational channel ! I was trying to leave a comment under The anatomy and life cycle of Dubia roaches, but I couldn't find it on your channel. Anyway, you guys do a great job. I am breeding Dubia roaches. I am starting an insect business. Still a bit nervous about handling them ! My son just picks them up ! Lol. I like the fact that you are kind to them and respect them, while other people look at them like there just food for reptiles and Arachnids. You have my sub and support. I will check out your other videos.

      Thank you so much for your support and kind words. We really do love our little insect friends 😅 it's funny because we are fond of them, but then feed them off to all our pets. Hum..I will have to see why you couldn't comment on the other video! Sometimes TH-cam does weird things like turn off the comments 😕 welcome & glad you're here! Gio and Michelle

    Nice video. Is feeding dubias harmful to feed to tarantulas after they eat oranges? What dry food you use? Can I use a small heating pad on the outside of the tub to promote their breeding and not rely on room temperature?

    • @mightydubiafeeders
      @mightydubiafeeders  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Hi. Good questions. We are not sure about feeding roaches to tarantulas if they have recently eaten oranges. We do know that citrus in reptiles is said to cause issues and so we definitely discourage that for all reptiles. To be on the safe side, only feed your breeder roaches oranges and have a separate small bin ( shoe box size works) for your tarantulas.
      We feed our feeders our homemade roach chow which is completely safe and extremely healthy for a them and what animals eat them.
      We sell 2 sizes on our website mightydubiafeeders.com if you are interested. We make it fresh for you.
      As far as heating, many people do different things for heating their colonies. We do a heater lamp from the top of the bin lid. We feel that works well for our production. Be careful with heating pads and such of course. We have a few bin videos of our set ups if you wanna watch those during our dubia playlist.

    The roaches are beautiful, I’ve been wanting to switch to these for a while cause i’m tired of constantly cleaning after crickets and Mealworms. Crickets attract so many gnats which is a pain to get rid of. Do the roaches atteact gnats as well, I’m really interested in starting a colony of Dubais.

      @mightydubiafeeders  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Hello 👋 unfortunately all insects attract gnats during certain times of the year and its really just very common even if you keep a colony inside your house. We do regulate this issue with a few tools and frequent check ins on the colonies we have to clean out old dead roaches and food as that makes a big difference. We did a video on this topic recently. Its under our dubia playlist. We have dubia colonies available right now on our website mightydubiafeeders.com if you'd like to support small business and we ship nationwide. You can find everything you need to have a colony on the playlist. Have a good day 😊
