  • The Man in the High Castle is an American television series depicting a dystopian alternate history. The series is based on the 1962 novel of the same name by Philip K. Dick. In the series' alternate version of 1962, the Axis powers have won World War II and divided the United States into the Greater Nazi Reich, comprising more than half of the eastern part of the continent, and the Japanese Pacific States to the west.

@@Korijenkins1414 Yeah MITHC honestly pushes the Nazis to comic book villain status rather than the villains they actually would be if they won in real life. There's literally no incentive in destroying numerous, highly important, historical artifacts twenty years after the war. Sure, the kids probably won't care since they've been indoctrinated, but most adults would be pissed and it would lead to wider spread rebellion. If it was real life, the Nazis probably would've changed the meaning of "Liberty" to suit their deranged ideology rather than destroying historical artifacts altogether.
These scenes were meant to invoke emotion, but it honestly gets to the point where it just seems like evil for the sake of being evil.

As a German native speaker I can confirm that his speech sounds to me as if a person who is a native German speaker speaks an English speech. Not only would they have to defeat the resources of the Japanese Empire and Nazi Reich, but the millions of children and adults who had been raised in the Reich. They didn't know freedom or the United States, and would loyally fight to preserve the Reich. Not only would the resistance be fighting for freedom, but for the souls and minds of North America.

As someone from Poland I can assure you this is pure fiction. In reality, if we can talk about the reality here as it is a movie, but conquering souls and minds is always almost impossible. You learned it occupying Iraq and Afganistan. In Vietnam. We learned on the receiving end. We were occupied for 134 years. With laws forbidding us to speak our language, practice our religion, have our culture. For generations. The language, the customs, the culture, the religion, they all survived. Shortly after were faced with two world wars and USSR occupation that took more deecades. And we are still here. They could never win our souls and minds. It would be exactly the same for America.

@@KomradeSealsmy problem with the series is that it ended to soon. The reason being that amazon did not approve for any more seasons after the fourth season. The writers basically had to cram 2-3 seasons into one season. You can tell by the way they were passing them selves with each season. I loved it every step except for the last one. The world building was so incredibly done. We were supposed to see other areas of the world, like Africa and China, after the fourth. Unfortunately, they had to rush everything so dramatically that it killed off the series for me. I can’t even rewatch it now.

They _SHOULD HAVE_ turned Liberty Island into a massive Museum of Judeo-Liberal Decadence and established well-researched and persuasive exhibits showcasing American artifacts that contributed to the meaningless, self-indulgent existence of "individuals" and undesirable groups. By destroying the past, you martyr it but, by putting it on display and showing a _BETTER_ way forward, you tear away its mythological intrigue and thrust it naked before the eyes of those it failed. A stoned woman can be a heroine but, a humiliated one forced to be gawked and jeered at 'til her dying days is a pitiable message to all who'd stray from the straight and narrow.
