Maybe it is intentionally called Indian Mango as an insult - very few people like it. Carabao Mango (14 variaties from the Philippines) is Guinness World Record for Sweetest in the World.
Humongous variety you say in India? Again, the Philippines holds the Guinness World Record for The Biggest Mango at 3.5kg.

It's called the "Indian" mango because it IS from India. That cultivar is more properly known as Katchamitha in India. It was introduced to the Philippines I think during the American colonial period or shortly after WW2.
Indian mangoes are quite different from Southeast Asian mangoes in shape, taste, and texture. In fact, mangoes are divided into "Indian-type" and "Southeast Asian-type" in scientific literature.
Indian mangoes tend to be fibrous (with long "hairs" in the flesh), rounder, less sour when green, and reddish when ripe, they are also monoembryonic (they only have 1 embryo in the seed). In contrast, Southeast Asian mangoes tend to have a smoother texture, have an elongated kidney-shape, are _very_ sour when green, and are bright yellow when ripe, they are also polyembryonic (with multiple seedlings in each seed). Over the years, the mango cultivars of South Asia and Southeast Asia have interchanged due to trade, but the basic differences remain.
